Thanks a bunch for the detailed review of the compressor. I've been thinking about a new one and the Harbor Freight compressors like yours is the size I need.
Just a couple tips on your desiccant filter.. use it only when you spray materials. also place it as far away from the compressor as you can, it gives the air time to cool and allows the moisture to be captured by the traps. the Motor Guard M30 is also a good moisture trap to have on hand. regular rolls of toilet paper can be used in a pinch to get the job done!! keep up the great videos.
I would not run this with an extension cord do to the cord will be hot and catch fire.. Just backing you up with a bit of advice.. Thank you for doing the TH-cam thing
Yea, i got you! I need to find a place for it. Although it's a portable model.. it's probably going to stay in one place for most of its life. It'll be connected directly to a plug, probably cornered against the wall to keep it away from any paint overspray, but with good ventilation and easy access for maintenance. 😎👍
@@Michael-xl8dz 😅 I haven't seen any videos on it.. yet. Someone in the comments offered a similar air compressor (the motor didn't work, but was great for the tank), and suggested I connected both of them together. I really liked the idea, but my air compressor is really old, I wasn't sure if it was going to handle. This new compressor, tho.. 🧐it would be 50 Gallons ..
Nothing will catch fire if the extension cord is rated for that power. Where I live, most extension cords up to 5 meters are rated for 230V 16A single phase, 3500W max. I could plug this 1500W air compressor in to an extension cord and run it all day long.
I just bought the same compressor. old stock at harbor freight. I have no 220 in my house here in Joshua Tree ca. the high desert. I have a 60 gallon dewalt 5 hp new but needs 220. so I bought this for now. you can probable put on beefy rubber larger wheels? you might even score a 3hp or 5hp electric motor for more psi pressure? or would you need a better pump unit? I have a spare $175 pump I bought because they are closing those out too.
GTP, could you remove the electrical cover on the motor and give a good view of the wires and how and to what terminals they are connected to? (Show/tell what color wires are to what numbered terminal) Thanks.
Not sure that came out right what you said about the moisture in the tank. There's lots of water vapor in the air especially where you live. A compressor like that with a nice aftercooler on the discharge line will put more water in the bottom of the tank (the tank is a big condenser) which is very good because the air leaving your regulator will be more dry. If the line had no aftercooler and the tank got hot, then more water would STAY in the air and it would come out at your paint gun or D/A. So yeah bigger tanks and aftercoolers are better but more water will have to be drained which is good for your dry air leaving. Yeah where are you I have to go to Longview for something possibly....
The discharge will convert the air vapor into moisture, so it runs down the tank instead of being vapor in the air, traveling through the air line.. 🧐±
I know exactly what you mean. I bought a half mask off Amazon, took it out the box to look at it, haven't used it yet. There was no way in hell no was going to get that respirator back in that tiny box!!🤣🤣
When you bought your new compressor why didn’t you instead tear your old one apart separating motor from compressor so you could simply buy a new 3 hp compressor pump and install it on your old tank.i have a 60 craftsman tank with 6hp motor that I’m doing it with and it’s not that big of deal
This review helped me, thank you. Was on the fence about buying one for my metalflake and candy paint projects. Thanks again

Those high flow fittings really help with the bigger tools. Night and day difference.

I have had this compressor for four years, it's great! Only thing is last week I had to replace the electrical plug, the ground pin fell off
Technically you don’t need a ground pin…….so I’d say that’s a 🏅 win
can you let me know the model nuber,, i am looking for oil filter , need your compressor part #s pls,,wher do u get oil filter from @@trentdawg2832
An intake muffler will help reduce the noise as well as putting some rattletrap sound deadener on the tank.

Boss whats the cfm on your spray gun?
Does this trip a 15 amp breaker? The specs say to use on 15 amp breaker but that amp draw says it will.
are you sure there oil in the compressor? that tag said you need to add oil, not that it had oil
Yea, it already had oil in it.
@@GTsPerformance good, im glad, i was worried you were going to blow it up and you already had the bad luck from the other one, that was a shame
