The only scratches that bother me are deep ones on the crystal as I see them every time I check the time. As my favourite watches are brushed steel cases on straps any scuffs on the case aren't really noticeable so I don't really care - but I only buy watches I like and want for myself. Resale value is irrelevant to me as I don't buy to resell.
great story about your scratches, but in reality most of them that we have are stupid ones (we bang our arm against a table, a wall, a protruding object that shouldn't be there, etc.). so sometimes you just don't want to see those scratches anymore.
All scratches do is show that you wore the watch a lot. When I’m gone, I want my boys to have a watch that they know was on my wrist during my life’s adventures…not a watch that was sitting at home in a safe.
Collectors generally do not use the things they collect. It's not weird when watch collectors do it. A watch collector also buys watches that don't fit them or are not a type of watch they wear, so they are never going to wear it.
@@NorthernWatchClub I sensed some ridicule re. leaving toys in the packaging. How do you feel about buying two toys/watches and using one? Do you feel you need to wear both?
@@NorthernWatchClub My other question would be: If you bought a house and found unopened Star Wars Toys from 1977 in the loft, would you give them to your kids to play with?

I don’t understand how you could become emotionally attached to accidental bumps on door knobs, scraping the clasp against a laptop, or events like that. Scratches are just damages to objects l love, so I hate them.
Yes!!! I HATE the, every scratch tells your story bs nonsense. Oh yeah? My “story” is the damn seat belt buckle flipped upwards and smacked into the side of watch? The time I didn’t turn slightly going through the bathroom door and the doorknob hit it? Great story.
For outdoor and work activities, F91 or any casio resin material works for me my nice watches deserve better treament! LMAO. Your message is lost on flippers and Instagram addicts. They don't care about watches or horology they care that people see them WEARING expensive shit.
Sorry dude but that's a crock. A scratch is just a scratch and nothing to do with memories. Do you enjoy the damage on your car because you went some place in it? I have a lot of watches but very few big memories attached. Nice when you have them, but don't expect them to be your friend....... get a friend.

Watches are to be enjoyed and you're 100% right. Patina is something we should welcome, and if you don't get scratches in life are you really living?!
I agree! The more wear and tear the more character a watch gains.

True, crystal scratches are tougher to swallow indeed
I have the same Hamilton, the buckle got scratches cleaning up dog shit on the lawn! Great days😂
XD hasn't happened to me yet, my dog always poop on grass haha

Actually the brushed or polished bracelets are pretty easy to maintain. You can restore brushed watch at home.
With those magic wipe things right? I saw a friend do it once

I guess similar to the people that collect toys but leave them in the packaging?
@@NorthernWatchClub Sounds good to me.
So many things I wish I had kept in the box lol.
You can enjoy an unworn watch more than a boxed toy though.

I get that. I just don’t care about the scratches so I just make my peace with it and try to be more careful next time.

There's beauty in the mundane too, scratches are unavoidable, maybe this whole video is just cope lol
Like they say : scratches brings character to the watches !
Really good perspective on the subject, I think it does add character to a watch👌⌚

Buy two of same watch 😈

Scratches give personality to a watch
Just like how a scar on a human body is a trophy.
A Scratched watch is a sign that it was worn and loved
I wear them with pride. I made those scratches all by myself. Lol
My 8900 has scars
If you buy a watch to flip it, then you are buying it for the wrong reason.
EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!
Sorry to see that. Prefer wearing something like gshock or something less valuable when u hiking bike swim 😊😊😊
I should have done that lol , brought my G-Shock on that Portugal trip too
