      I don't always hear about the crimes that happened in South Africa on TH-cam, and when I do, the people usually butcher the names of the towns or the Afrikaans (my first language that's almost similar to Dutch) surnames. You've done none of the sort and I thank you. If you want you can do a video on the first serial killer we had in the 90's. He killed I think almost 50 woman. A friend of mine was the only survivor. Great job BC. 💐

      @thebigdog2295 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Figured that out after the second husband. The woman who the modern media dubbed the black widow and made the term so popular was from Pensacola Fl. Most people think she was from California or Hawaii, but she killed her first husband in Pensacola Fl., and the woman who caused toxicology tests to become more intensive was from south Fl. She used a poison so unknown that it ten years to catch her. The coroner who finally caght her had to invent a toxicology test to even find it in a body. She made the same mistake as the woman in the video, she kept killing people.
      The lesson to be learned is be careful about marrying women from Fl.

    Thanks for covering this! My mom used to tell us this story when I was young as well as the story of the Panga-man serial killer that used to kill couples that visited the drive in movies (unfortunately I don't know which ones) after hours in South Africa. It has always fascinated me. Think that's where my curiosity regarding murderers started. 😁

    Those who engage in mariticide or uxoricide for financial gain seem to always make the same mistake of not knowing when to stop; most likely because they tend to get away with the first, or even second attempts and get the idea that they are smarter than they actually are.

    Nothing got my generation so motivated to do something as when a grownup said....just like Daisy de Melcker. For instance go brush your hair, you look just like Daisy de Melcker. Oh dear, this takes me back.....and school children having to go on school trips and one of them we went on was the police museum in Pretoria. A spooky place, very, very gruesome. Those photos of her. My giddy aunt, I STILL remember it 60 plus years down the line. (It would be interesting to hear if any other people of my generation remember the above.)

    I wasn’t expecting her to be executed so quickly…I guess it’s because I’m so used to the longer process we have now. And as to why she killed her son…She’d done it before, gotten away with it and was “rewarded” for it via inheritances. So why wouldn’t she think it would go her way again? Maybe she was tired of having to take care of him if what the sister said was true. So getting rid of him, getting money and not having to give him his inheritance might have been too good to resist.

    • @KVBB-k2z
      @KVBB-k2z 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I don't think she'd have killed her son at age 21 when he would have been self sufficient, earning wages and bringing that money home every week to his mother. It doesn't sit right with me. If her son was a burden she'd have done away with years earlier when he was a child. He was an asset alive. She inherited 100 pounds. Realistically speaking, was that motive to kill her son. Personally I don't think so. Alas we will never know

    I've read about this case before, but this was the first time I saw a photo of Rhodes or most of these photos of Daisy. I'm not terribly surprised that her last husband believed so firmly in her innocence. We've seen that before, haven't we? People see and believe what they want, regardless of the truth.

  • @cyankirkpatrick5194

    If he was lazy then why was he working, in the first place, I figured she killed him due to that she spent the inheritance already, and had no plans of paying it back.

      My mother spent my brother’s inheritance from his father which he found out about when he turned 18. Sure he was pissed but I’m glad she didn’t feel the need to kill him over it! Obviously in both cases the money was spent on them anyway!
