The max fine is 10k according to NHL rulebook (15k for repeat fines given within a year), but anything more than 5k or 5 games suspended requires a hearing, and I guess the NHL doesn’t want to bother with that

I am a caps fan and I totally agree he shoulda gotten more out of the Panarin beating 5,000 was a bit too shallow. But Panarin was also the one who attacked him so he shoulda known better. And there are tons of other people just as bad as Wilson and even worse. Not saying he is great! But he could be much worse. He does need to learn to play with a cooler temper but his physical gameplay is just part of how he plays. And I bet you probably defend the goons on your team as well.
Colorado has dealt with a lot of injuries in the regular season, but they overcame them in most games. I sense a deep playoff run coming from the Avs this season
I don't think you understand the role of penalties in hockey. There are times when it is advisable to take a penalty. For example, do you really want a player to have an incentive to give up on a backcheck to stop his opponent's breakaway knowing that he's probably going to take a penalty?
Why are there even fines when minutes in the box is penance enough? These are some WEAK ass called like that light cross check in practice and the pre-fight.
I prefer guys getting fines more than suspensions myself, I feel like you had to purposely put a guy in an ambulance to get suspended. Also sometime the call on the ice is good enough I feel.
