Crazy that such a levelheaded player did that. The Benn cross check on stone was definitely more dangerous overall but Benn is known for doing shit like that. Pietrangelo is pretty respected and just doesn't normally do that, it reminds me of how McDavid was losing his head against the Canucks earlier this week.

Nothing. If the player gets hurt, the league does nothing. Cogliano got his neck broke last season due to an absolutely terrible hit and the league didn't even have a meeting about the hit.
Who cares? It's Deadmonton, and those creeps were trying to injure him the entire game.

That second round series was an absolute war. Kolesar trying to send Ekholm into the parking lot via the boards, Pietrangelo trying to make Draisaitl a member of the war amps and Kane becoming a UFC fighter mid-game. Wild series.

I think there was a calgary flames player that did something very similar lately and it looks super dangerous when it comes to a player's neck. Forget career ending that could be life ending.

@@colinlata6224 Hughes literally made it look worse than it actually was. Colton and Luke were battling for the puck and Colton was the stronger man. The hit that Colton laid was very similar to the one that Miles Wood laid. Which was clean, the guy is trying to wield the net. If you can’t see that then you should probably stop watching hockey now

As a Stars fan, seeing that Benn cross check was a shock but at the same time it wasn’t. Not shocking he could/would do that, but shocking that he couldn’t contain his emotion that deep into the playoffs, as a captain of a team that depends on you to be their leader. The rest of the game followed suit & was an utter clusterfuck, a complete unraveling of every playoff game up to that point. Plays were sloppy, short dudes blew up everywhere, and those emotions boiled over into the seats & back onto the ice via objects thrown. I’ve never seen a Stars game go THAT wrong before, and for once I understood how embarrassing it felt being on that side of the drama unfolding. I tried to bear through it till I saw the popcorn thrown at Hill, that’s when I shut it off & accepted the season was over. Those next 2 games were insane & I enjoyed each of them, but we can never let that kind of thing happen again.

@@peanutmwo6001 if it was mid season it would still be dirty, but it would be just that, a dirty play & game misconduct. but the fact it was that deep into playoffs set the stage for disaster. you can come back from a shitty reg season game, but a blown playoff game can lead the series down, which it ultimately did to some degree

the foligno hit on faksa was kind of a dumb call honestly, foligno doesn't actively move his leg out and he's clearly going for a body check that just doesn't connect. obviously it was a big hit but a game misconduct for an accident seems harsh. i know the commentators are usually pretty biased but i think they were right on that one, saying that it doesn't look like foligno ever changed his path to make the hit
That was a bullshit call and I don't like either of those teams. Just shitty officiating.
And the dude leaps right into him, that was just pure bad luck. Harsh call, it could have been worse the other way very easily in a collision like that.
Some of the most egregious no calls happened during last seasons playoffs. I can't believe some of that slid.
Most of what the Panthers did fell into that category.

I'm a stars fan have been since they were the North Stars but that was despicable by our captain and worse than any "cheap shot" I've ever seen! Benn Needs to be stripped of the C and gotten rid of never really liked his play anyway he is Definitely OVER PAID
I am a Vegas fan and I will say you guys played better without him in the playoffs and he seems to be a player that is taking a lot of cheap shots now. maybe its because he's getting older and less skilled he thinks it a way to contribute to the team? no hate towards Dallas just I very much dislike the way Benn plays hockey.

I hate this play with Kolesar and Ekholm a play eairly similar to this one ended my hockey season/career as it was 5th concussion and it was highly recommended that I stopped playing. So after some thought that’s what I did. But very scary still get goosebumps whenever I see plays like that
1:49 In case you don't know, the NHL released a statement saying that the refs made the wrong call on that play, and it should have just been a tripping minor.
But that call was just the tip of the iceberg in that series. Horrible, horrible officiating all around in the Wild-Stars series. I lost track of how many times thugs like Suter and Benn got away with nasty, dirty hits, including several cross-checks to a Kirill Kaprizov who had recently come back from a lower body injury that kept him off the ice for nearly a month.
I guess the NHL doesn't understand how dangerous that is to both players when knees collide like that. I think everyone but the NHL think they made the right call.
@@maekklyn That knee on knee did not look intentional. It's actually the only clip in this video that I thought was the wrong call. Unless I was going to say some calls should have been stronger.

Half of these clips are basically why we have boarding penalties. If someone puts themself in a bad spot it is your job not to paralyze them. You could hit them any which way except a crosscheck to the spine headfirst into the boards. That definitely should be a penalty or misconduct.

Durzi knew exactly what he was doing when he looked back and then cut in a few feet short of the boards and jammed in hard against Vatrano. It was a calculated move and it payed off.
The girl in the stands at 0:40 right above the hit got me cracking up.
That last one was how it used to be taken of, you get up and send a clear message. No waiting for the enforcer to come in and go at it after he gets out of the box. As a 50 year hockey fan, that was how it's done.

look im a knights fan through and through but that Edmonton series had us very frustrated. it was a very chippy series from both sides but im not gonna complain too much we’ve got the Stanley.
11:48 As much as I don't like fights in sports (keep in mind I'm not a big hockey guy) I find this scene a lot more palatable than most brawls in sports. The 2 guys with beef settle their own score, and the rest don't run out there to push and shove aimlessly and otherwise look like morons (baseball bench clearing brawls look rather silly to me). This is better, IMHO.
If you get off the bench to join a fight in hockey its a two game suspension

My brother got called for boarding in a tourney for squirt c’s so you can’t board someone but all he did was trip a kid and he got a 10 minute minor Penalty
If you get a 5 minute major at the end of a game in a 7 game series, you sbould start the next game with whatever remaining time of the 5 minute major.
The things I want for Germany at the moment are a better top tier cas as the tornado is defenseless in the sky at the moment, and a better spaa other than that I enjoy the tech tree

That last one was brutal. Refs don't call the clear boarding penalty, and then hand out a game misconduct to the guy who got boarded because his jersey committed a major infraction? Who was the ref, Angel Hernandez?

Benn’s is just baffling, so many dirty dangerous hits that were in some part unintentional and then Jamie benn, during active play, no puck, guy already down for a full second, decides to do a calculated thought-out cross check to a guy’s face, that’s the one that had me thinking what goes through some people’s heads

I'm as big of a Stars fan as there ever will be, and Benn's penalty in that game was one of the stupidest things I've seen. Very good chance it cost us whatever comeback we might have had in that series as well.
Him and Seguin are holding the team back. Robo, Miro, Wyatt, Roope, Otter and even Pavelski are playing like champs but those two plus Suter are dragging anchors.

They really really are. First game of the season this year, after they won the freakin' Stanley cup, what did they do? Howdon brained Tanev, only got a two game suspension while Tanev will be out for most of the regular season because of the injury. Absolutely disgustingly dirty. Also look up what they did to Pavelski in 2019.

Hockey jersey have a strap on the back that attaches to keep them from getting pulled over a players head. League rules say it has to be properly tied down

When your shirt is loose and you get into a fight, your opponent can't get as good a grip on you, you can even easily lose the shirt altogether and beat the everliving shit out of the other guy.

That first hit was crazy. If it was a split second later he would touch the puck and it wouldn't be interference. But, he never touched it and the hit was malicious and trying to hurt his opponent. "Legal" or not that hit was nasty. I can't endorse hits like that. A young player gets caught in a bad spot and you try to hospitalize them? Clean hits are part of the game but that was not one.
