    To the best of my knowledge, the Egyptian Army never widely used the RPM as its SAW. Its primary SAW was the local license-produced version of the RPD, until the Army transitioned to the local license-produced version of the FN MAG. The latter also serves as the Army’s main MMG. Before the FN MAG, the Army used the local license-produced version of the SG-43/SGM as its primary MMG, and it remains in use, especially as a vehicle borne pintle mounted weapon. Some special forces units used (and continue to use) various versions of the US-made M-60 as their SAW, but generally speaking, the FN MAG has taken over both the SAW and MMG roles. I’m not 100% sure if the RPD remains in the SAW role as well, but it wouldn’t surprise me, given the numbers of RPDs that were produced in Egypt.

      As a maadi owner they are awesome. Little crude in the 70's models with underfolder.

    Egyptian Army issue Kalashnikovs are generally of quite good quality, as they are built using good quality steel and chrome, using original Soviet-supplied machinery and gauges.

    Maadi 20 inch barrel is not a RPK. It’s a DMR for longer ranges about 500 yards. In Iraq the Army had the same can of rifle but it wasn’t Egyptian it was made in Iraq.The Egyptian squad automatic rifle was RPD and PKM.

      In recent years, the standard infantry squad machine gun and MMG is a locally manufactured copy of the FN MAG, which is produced in Egypt under license from FN. During the Egyptian Army’s deployment in Egyptian cities during the revolution and counter-revolution in 2011 and 2013, FN MAGs were all over the TV screens, both as vehicle-mounted MGs, and in the hands of the infantry. I don’t think that the Egyptian Army’s Infantry has ever used the PKM. It has used the RPD, the SG-43/SGM, some versions of the American M-60 by some special forces, and more recently, the FN MAG. But the PKM? Never.

      @@samy7013 I seen videos of the Egyptian army using the RPD in the 1960s and a parts kit mark Egyptian. I seen the PKM was mounted on a truck in the Egyptian revolution when president Obama was in office.

      @@scottflowers7780 : I’m pretty sure that it was an FN MAG that you mistook for a PKM. The PKM isn’t in service with the Egyptian Army.

    • @scottflowers7780
      @scottflowers7780 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I believe u are right about the PKM. It can look like SG-43 with carry handle. The MG that was mounted on the truck had no butt stock.It was the SG-43.

    • @samy7013
      @samy7013 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scottflowers7780 : Ah! Awesome. I’m glad you got to the bottom of it. The SG-43/SGM was produced under license in Egypt for decades. I’ve even seen footage of it still in service from the ongoing Egyptian Army’s counterinsurgency operations in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. The most recent photo I saw of an SG-43 was one where the MMG was mounted on an army BTR-50 tracked APC, at a guard post somewhere in Sinai. The SG-43/SGM is a solid workhorse, and with their chrome-lined changeable barrels, those guns can last for decades, even with hard use.

    In your opinion, what is the difference between the Egyptian MAADI PARS & the RPN? What is more rare? Mishaco has a review and mentions the PARS and others. I like your video. Thank you for sharing.

    How would you say the Chinese Norinco/polytech AK compares to the Egyptian AK? I want to make the right decision in which AK I purchase and I can't find a Russian AK.

    • @jameslonano5659
      @jameslonano5659 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Both are arsenal built AK's and are outstanding. The type 56 Chinese AK's are of their own pattern having a thicker receiver, barrel , blued finish, and some gas systems differences. The Maadi is a full on Russian AKM pattern made on Tula tooling. It is the closest arsenal made Russian pattern AKM imported into the US. Maadi's are semi gloss black enamel paint over park just as the Russian were at the time. A collector and shooter should really have both but I do personally lean towards the Maadi's.
