  • Today we are taking a head to head look between the 2023 Mazda CX-50 and the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan! I have full reviews of each model as well if you want more of an in-depth view!
    👋 In todays review we take a look at the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan! This is the SEL trim level with the R-line package! For right around $40K, this is a very nice SUV that has a lot to offer! From all the technology, to the comfortable ride and the amount of space, it's hard to not like what's available! The exterior on this model has a great look and color! The exterior lines are very similar to that of it's sister company Audi, along with most of the interior components! The interior has a nice design to it and great materials! The technology is easy to use and laid out well! Over the week that I had this 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan, I thought it was a very nice SUV to be in. After a few hours of driving, it's a little stiff feeling. I wish the seats were a bit longer under my knees, but that's a personal preference. It's a quiet driving SUV on the highway and smooth too! Overall, for the price, you have a great SUV option to go with and if you are looking at an Audi, but want something that is a bit cheaper in price, the Volkswagen is the answer to that question!
    👋 In todays review we check out the all new 2023 Mazda CX-50! This is the turbo with the premium plus package so it's the top trim level for this new model! This Mazda has an MSRP just over $42K and it's a really nice option for the price. The exterior styling is pretty bold for the front end and has some unique design elements! The rest of the exterior isn't as bold, more curved lines and flowing to the rear, but overall a nice new look!
    The interior is pretty simple as most Mazda's are. For it being simple, it does offer tech features like adaptive cruise, blind spot and even a built in navigation system. The one downside I see is the infotainment is not a touch screen system. In a world where almost every vehicle has that user interface, it's interesting to see that not incorporated into this Mazda.
    The driving experience is nice! Super comfortable and quiet which makes for a great daily! Plenty of interior space and just a solid driving vehicle! It's got plenty of pep from that engine to get up and move and in the chance you need to tow, it's capable in that aspect too!
    Definitely a great option for the money for a reliable point A to point B vehicle.

    Cx50 for the Money, 256hp vs 184hp is day and night, cx50 driving and handling better, cx50 actually has touch screen when using android auto or apple carplay
    plus Mazda supplies right now is good lots of car available and you can easy negotiate and get bellow msrp, the think i like about VW is their ambient light plus full digital dash, but for the money i will take 256hp but with the Terracotta leather way nicer than the black leather

    I personally prefer cars\SUVs with alternatives to touch interfaces because it's much more convenient and safe to use regular physical buttons, knobs, etc while driving without even looking at those elements of input. Just grab that knob and turn it, simply as that. But you can't grab a virtual button on screen, you can't get a the proper feedback, you can't read virtual buttons with your fingertips.

      I do not agree. In for example cx5, why when the car is not moving, you cannot set the address using touchscreen. I think Mazda cannot deliver a smooth touch screen technology, otherwise they could make it available at least when the car is not moving.

  • @efavuzza73
    @efavuzza73 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    In the Mazda when in CarPlay the screen is touchscreen. Also the VW lacks power. I had 2022 VW Tiguan and the power is lacking

    • @BrosFOURRSpeed
      @BrosFOURRSpeed  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Why would a manufacturer make a screen only touchscreen for one thing and not the rest? That’s very weird. They have adequate power, they aren’t performance models.

  • @spinedoc893
    @spinedoc893 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    I've driven both these vehicle because my wife is looking at buying one. Looks is obviously a personal thing but i think the CX-50 is much better looking on the outside. The VW just looks like another egg shaped generic SUV like the CX-5 and almost every other SUV in this segment. The Mazda actually does have a touch screen, perhaps that's a new addition since this video was made? Having said that its still very far from the driver and awkward to use. The VW set up is more user friendly for sure so I'd give VW a bit of an advantage for the interior. One thing I totally disagree with is the power. The Mazda is significantly more powerful and its very noticeable. The numbers in the video for the Mazda are 227HP/310lbs/ft of torque but that's on 87 octane if you run 93 octane its 256/320. That's over 70 hp and 100lbs of torque better than the VW. It's very noticeable in vehicles of about the same weight. Even on 87 octane the Mazda is still 40HP and 90 lbs/ft better than the VW. the 0-60 times say it all 6.6 vs 9.0. Granted the 6 sp trans in the Mazda is a bit archaic and I'd love to see an 8 or 9 sp but its a very reliable unit and seems to work very well. If you plan on towing anything at all the CX-50 is a much better choice.

    I like both, Tiguan has more Cargo and rear room , Mazda has way more power .
    Mazda is build to last longer while VW should have warranty at all times of ownership.
    I always use Android auto and Mazda has touch screen if you want to use it for some reason but you need to get it activated in menu .
    Mazda control knob is far better , easier to control of infotainment but it requires few weeks of getting use to while touch screen only is just 20yrs old way of controlling the screen and it is not as safe or comfortable as the knob on Mazda and I would not buy a car without it again . Had Jetta for 3 years and touch screen drive me crazy and on bad pavement roads often i was not able to pick correct screen icon on the first or second try and it was super frustraiting ....
    System on Mazda and it's drive and power are big reason I would choose it over VWs best and sportiest trim you shown here .
    Also audio quality is better on Mazda.

    Much rather pay for the Mazda reliability, but I am biased as I have a cx50. Aside from Toyota I found the others in this class unreliable and or overpriced for the market conditions. I also wanted low tech, nothing dumber than using capacitive buttons and huge screens. No other cars could justify their price aside from dumb “tech”. I’ve had a phone/tablet before and that same slow down WILL hit your car - miss me with that.
