Thank you for the great in-depth content you guys always make. I have a request. Can you guys add a part in one of your next videos where you go into detail on how to run ether one or two sets of speaker wires through a stock door boot. Those grommets where they are plugs and have very little room. How do you guys pass wire through those?
PT Cruisers have this issue and it was really annoying to try to wire a aftermarket stereo. I thought about wiring to the cigarette lighter accessory wire at the front console but these devices seems more convenient. I might order one... You also mention that speaker amps have this feature? I am considering installing an aftermarket amp now if that is the case.
Thanks mate 👍 appreciate your video, i recently bought a vehicle that runs canbus and i was going nuts trying to find something to power a reverse camera monitor with acc control, up until I watched this video i had to manually switch it on and off (wired in to 12v constant) so I didn't drain the battery.
Do either the tr-4 or ign-3 have a current draw when the vehicle is not running or in ignition on mode? Say I leave my car in a parking garage for 3 weeks unattended. Would I expect to have a drained or low battery 🔋in that amount of time ?
I wish car audio manufacturers would work with car companies to make car audio easier it’s so hard now a days with factory amplified systems the voltage is so high locs can’t handle it most amps hi level can’t handle is then you have canbus factory eqs etc etc so frustrating...........
Hi I'm not sure if you guys are going to get this soon or not but I have a question I wanted to know when you're hooking up a dash cam and you're directly wiring it for the parking mode so that it's surveys the vehicle 24/7 Can I put an aftermarket switch at accessory switch in my dashboard where when I'm parking the car it safely in my garage I can push that button and that disables the 24/7 monitoring so the dash cam is not with is not using any power and then when I'm in the vehicle outside of my garage driving I can hit that button and the dash cam goes on and it's it enables the parking mode so I was wondering if this is possible It seems like it is but I just wanted to check with someone and I'm not getting any answers here where I'm located Thank you
Can you use the pac ign-3 with A Dsr1 dsp and 2 Amplifier. Am getting a thumping sound when I turn off my radio and I wasn't doing that until I add the Dsp. Thanks
Could you still use the head units speaker wire when you use the RCAs for an amp on the TR4? I’d love to use it to trigger an relay to supply power to an fuse block.
hi d&f i take the ignition wire to a relay( ignition master) pin 86, then pin 87 of that relay go'es to "relay 1 (slave) pin 86" "relay 2 (slave) pin 86" and so on
Hi I have 87 firebird with key ignition start Which only have off , on, and start .NO acc and the radio I brought says I need acc or I cannot install this radio. Which is a pioneer DMH - 130bt . Can I use one of these devices or is there a device I can use or should I just return the radio.
OOOHHHHH!!! I always wondered why the F I kept hearing a vehicle ignition start while sitting at a red light!! I was like "dang who the heck turned off their vehicle while just sitting at a red light??!!"
My 2016 Chevy Malibu has this feature. I like to compare if the German cars can start up faster than mine. Turns out both American and German start up and take off just as fast. So the tech is near consistent now a days.
I have a kicker front row Digital signal processor an every time I turn off the car it makes the speakers 🔊🔊 make a loud pop .. so thank you 🙏 for this product....iGN-3
Have you done this to a Ford Fusion I have an Audiocontrol LC7i and using the GTO but I get a speaker pop turn on and once I turn the car off it pops a few times and finally turns off
Hey Dean, could I use that IGN3 with a relay to power a set of Daytime Running Lights? I've been trying to figure a way to have them powered ONLY when the engine is actually running. They currently come on with ignition, even if the engine is not actually running.
Because in some newer vehicles, there's NO wires that are hot with the key on, the accessories are all triggered by the databus. If you can find a fuse that is only hot with the key on, then you don't need any of these products.
Scott Haydin How about the rear wipers, sunroof or rear window defroster, electric seats, heated seats...? I'm sure some of these are key on wires... As long as you don't touch the important fuses like abs, engine management, airbags, and other safety items, you'll be fine, and some dollars richer...
But SOME vehicles have a module for the sunroof, and rear wipers, pwr windows, etc. And that module is triggered by a data wire. But most have a keyed ign wire to them. The ones with data modules on EVERYTHING are the ones that you would need this on. But also, some installers would rather use these if they can avoid running a wire across the car. Time is money after all......
forget modern vehicles. WHat about an old vehicle with simple + and - . When turning off key, the radio shuts down, all channels are lost, all time returns to factory zero.
All you need to do is to search with a multimeter for a fuse that only has power when the ignition is on, then find a way to connect a wire to that fuse and boom 💥 now you have a “red ACC wire for your radio that only has power when you turn on your ignition.

Amazing video, I'm currently doing a 2018 Wildtrak and the 12v accessory is a pain lol. Thank you all the way from Trinidad!
Thanks Dean and Fernando! Your instructional videos are awesome and appreciated!
So if you have turn off pop on the sub amp , I’m guessing the tr4 would work but how do you wire it up for a sub amp ?
PT Cruisers have this issue and it was really annoying to try to wire a aftermarket stereo.

You guys are master instructors

Can the IGN-3 be used by tapping the red cable directly into a fuse that's permanently powered? This way I'd leave the OBD port free.
Hi dean and Fernando I have a question do I have to connect the Both turn on wire to the pac- tr4
Could you use the OBD2 one to hook up hook up a device that requires an input of 9-16 V DC and has a current draw of 80 amps
Great video. Suggestion. Look into the lens. Not the lcd. ✌🏼

Are the two data wires for CAN-L and CAN-H (Pins 14 and 6)?

Can these be used to turn a 12v outlet (cig outlet) on/off with the ignition? In my Suburban, the 12v outlets are on all the time.
How do you add a relay to this - to create more amperage load?

Thumbs up for the vid very informative
Very nice Video

Yes that will work.
New garage door? Most videos had a fan above it
No there was people talking outside. There were not get the hint. We just shut the door
Cool. I need to rewire my dashcam permanently instead of using the cigarette bulky plug.
I like this
What's wrong with just using a toggle switch to turn stuff ON?
You might forget to turn the toggle switch back off every time? Or someone else driving the vehicle might?
Why not use a fuse tap, instead...?

I hooked up the TR4 and I still get the pop. Now what?
Is there any way to have the accessory power on until the door is opened?
Is you are using the tr4 and your radio stays on until you open the door yes.
@@FiveStarCarStereoInc nothing like retained accessory power, though? Where the door triggers it off?
And that is why you wear gloves when working on a car... which nobody does... myself included.

Go to your fuse box and find a switched power source
U say 'go ahead' so much that that u r going to jam it between the letters instead of words
I did say it 8 times. Thanks for paying super close attention. I think we should go ahead and make a drinking game of it.
