As an E55 owner, I approve. Also, you can still upshift even when in either C/S modes. It just has to be at shift points that the TCM allows in 'automatic' modes.
E55 Wagon owner here, over in Germany. You can also put the TCM of a CLK DTM AMG in it (also had the M113K engine). That has a genuine M manual mode and will shift in real time as you pull the paddles. It also removes the torque restrictor the factory TCM has so you have full torque available in all gears. Only word of caution your tranny has to be somewhat fresh as the gear engagement is quite heavy on the box. I can also confirm that even with 530+ horsepower at the crank with the wagon on 275 Michelin PS4S tires it deadlocks from a standstill and will do 3.5sec to 60mph 😊
I had almost the exact journey! I got obsessed with the E63 Wagon after your video, but didn't want to spend that much on a new car. So I picked up an '07 E63 Wagon on BaT (black with tan interior, all options) and deleted the resonator. Loved every minute of driving it until someone changing lanes pushed it into a curb and it was declared totaled. Congratulations, and enjoy!
The window visors are marketed by the automakers as a way to ventilate air on a rainy day, but really they are for smokers. I live in Japan and both of our cars have them. They get included in nearly every dealer installed option package to pad up the price. For cars with metallic trim around the windows some of the visors will replicate that so you don't ruin any lines.
I don't smoke but I have these (original lexus accessory) on my IS250 and they have the chrome trim strips on them which match the original window line. IMO your car is not proper VIP JDM unless it has them fitted. lol
Not really for smokers, our weather at the Kenyan coast is quit humid and we need to crack open the window when it rains to regulate humidity in the vehicle
I always buy monsoon shields for my cars because i like ventilation in the car during hot/rainy days, whether its parked up or we are driving, its nice to have.
The W211 is such an awesome combination of luxury, power and reliability. What I loved most about these Kompressor Mercedes was their relentless power delivery to readline and that supercharger whine. It's a bummer they moved to turbochargers in order to comply with tightening emissions regulations, but superchargers will always be the enthusiast's choice in my book.
Finally, a real car! The E55 was my dream car, then I bought one. Now into my 15th year of ownership of my 2005 E55 Sedan. It is Obsedian Black, has 19" AMG wheels and is in stealth mode (no badges). Congrats on purchasing one of the best AMG's. After doing a ton of reading and researching just like you did, watching Alex (LSC) and AMGmeister, I purchased a 2006 E55 sedan with 112k miles on the clock 2 years ago. These cars are very easy to work on. FCP Euro is your best friend for parts. And the reliability everyone talks about, it's 100% true. I daily drive mine, and enjoy every mile of it. I've also kept mine 100% stock, just like you intend to. Also, change that grill back to factory with the hood emblem.

Since my 2nd daughter was born last month, I’ve been doing research on wagons for a daily. The fact Jakub got an AMG wagon is amazing and look forward to joining the wagon nation soon enough. Congratulations on your purchase, insight, and review. You too Yuri, thank you
Nice work! I have a ‘19 E450. It’s 8/10 as fast, 8/10 as cool but gets 31mpg on the highway. Three pointed star wagon owners UNITE! The most non-SUV I could find!
Would this be legal to import since it was also offered for sale in the states? I thought the 25 year thing was mainly for vehicles that were never offered in the states
Really glad to see you happy with such an iconic car. I am sure you already know but if not, the metal part below the hazards is actually a button that electronically opens a secret compartment behind the said buttons. I think that along with the cupholder are the two coolest quirks. Congrats again, enjoy it Jakub!
Get the regular grill, but without the standup logo thing. The regular grill match the design of the car and make it look more dignify, but without the standup logo make it feel more sporty
Not having keyless go is actually a great thing, people would constantly touch the start button when shifting into drive and would then have to restart the process. Think of it as having to pinch the gear lever instead of just holding it

One of my all time favorites. Personally I’d have to have keyless go, one for convenience but two because I love the starter button being on the shifter!
Congrats! Love wagons and the 7 seater E55 has always been a special one imo. Just did a 6500 KMs road trip in Europe last month with my Cupra ST. Absolutely loved it!
Having lived in Japan a few years before this car was built, there is generally only one group of Japanese who would have a large block left-hand drive Mercedes, although they'd normally be in white. Your car has likely had some interesting former owners!
One of my favorite videos in the earlier TH-cam days was a E55 AMG vs a Terminator street racing video with TI “24s” as the soundtrack. Good early 00s vibe.
Great looking Hellcat Dodge Magnum, or uh, E55! On that note, a Magnum SRT8 or even an R/T would make for a great family car too. Have fun with the new addition to the family.
Love E55's and one of the best and most reliable AMG engines ever! The factory gill and hood star looks wayyyy better than that aftermarket grill IMO. If it were mine, I'd do a E63 front end conversion. Make the car look a lot newer. And Monoblocks and coilovers. And super charger pulley, tune, long tube headers, couple intake and heat exchnager mods to make 600whp on pump gas while remaining tame and usable w/ family. Let's gooooo!
This video is 9 month old now and the owner will probably not see this comment but please do don’t start your Mercedes’ engine like that. Just rotate the key and let it go immediately, this car knows how to engage/disengage starter by herself. If you hold the key while it starts - your starter will be damaged in a long term
Put the OEM grill back on, looks way better! Congratulations on the new car, I’ve loved the W211 chassis ever since my family had one in 2005. Hands down the best car ever made. Can’t wait to see what you do with it!
Congratulations 👏👏 super sick car and what a steal! Sounds absolutely disgusting from the outside when the kompressor kicks in. And my vote is to stick with the existing grill. Looks great and most probably won't know it's not factory. Mad Props.
You guys forgot one of the cool features of the center console; the multi CD loader. Push the silver button underneath the hazard button. Growing up my mom had a 2004 E-class. It was one of my favorite features along with that cup holder.
Nice! Japanese imports are awesome, I’m on my 3rd now. How are you getting on with the menu? I’m 2 years into learning the language so I love it. Do you have a translator?? 😂 Also Yanase is Ya- Na- Seh
I prefer the OEM grille and star on the hood than the big logo on the aftermarket grille. It looks much more subtle and classy but if that's not what you want, then the current grille doesn't look bad.
Honestly, getting LHD cars from Japan are a lot cheaper than getting them here. I've been looking at getting another RHD car from Japan, and its so much cheaper just importing it through someone than buying it from someone here who has one. Great purchase on the AMG. One of my favourite vehicles out there.
I got one 5 years ago with a pulley, tune, and exhaust. My job has since radically improved and I could afford a new E63S. I refuse. My 2005 E55 wagon is so good, so gorgeous, and so fun I can't let it go. Not as fast as many new true hot rods but fast enough that I cackle like a maniac 90% of the time I drive it. Best 0-60 so far is a 3.9s using my dragy.
Omg this car sounds absolutely orgasmically amazing. Lol. That low down revs on pull away makes me smile so so much. My friend's parents had an E55 sedan back in the day and it was always such a treat driving in it. The new ones don't feel as close to special or as well made as the W211 E55. I can't count how many times I replayed 0:33 to 0:45 just to keep hearing that sound.
make sure to try out all your hidden features. I own a 2009 E6.3 AMG, in silver I LOVE IT!!! I learned all the hidden features. Fave is the recirc button, hold down and all the windows and sunroof closes and AC comes on. The key fob can open and close the 4 windows too
Hey a tip for if you are driving it in sport mode , if you press the downshift paddle then proceed to choose the gear you want to take off from. The computer does shift for you but you have to floor it all the way down and it will shift on its own right before the redline. I own an e55 sedan thats why i know. But you are correct it also does downshift for you.
Sweet wagon! This one is on my dream list too! Window deflectors are for the rain most likely. Japan can have a similar climate to the PNW of the US so these are useful to crack the window with out rain dropping in or pouring off the roof into the window and all over your lap. Worth mentioning they are popular with smokers so that you can have the window open for venting without getting wet.
Rain guards used to be really popular in the U.S. as well. Great for a rainy day to keep the windows from fogging and keep the rain from getting in. Some like the look of them on certain cars. Many people still use them just not as much now a days.
Finally, congratulations,Jacob! You bought the right choice of high performance family car. My father have one W211 E280 CDI (facelift)in India which is a precious model from Mercedes-Benz. I really adored your car because of iconic Supercharged 5.4 liter engine. I highly recommend to fix the 5 horizontal line grill with standing 3 point star logo which would be looking elegant. Now I’m in Norway and I’m hunting to buy used W211 model with 4matic and OM642 engine because I don’t want to loose the feeling from my dad’s car due to the best. Again, my hearty congratulations to Jacob for the proud owner of that dream machine.

I loved the ashtrays in the back doors on the old Cadillacs and Lincolns, but this takes that luxury to another level.
I actually really like the grill! Always thought the symbol could be worked to break it up better and your “cheap eBay” solitons fits that
I think the other grill looks much better. Hahaha different tastes I guess
I bought a 2003 E55 last November and it was the best thing I’ve ever done. Wouldn’t trade it for a new AMG. Best cars ever 💪🏼💪🏼
Love this car man
I'm a fan of all "fast" wagons...CTS Wagon V, STR8 Magnum, etc.. this one did not disappoint It's even better to me when they are quiet.
Congratulations 👏👏 super sick car and what a steal! Sounds absolutely disgusting from the outside when the kompressor kicks in. And my vote is to stick with the existing grill. Looks great and most probably won't know it's not factory. Mad Props.
My 05 300 c. Srt 8 has same transmission…18 years and zero problems
I'm not sure how anyone got this car for under $20,000 USD. I guess the mileage is pretty high, but damn this feels like a steal for this car.
That's why I got it in Japan and higher mileage. Eclection Auto is the best
Cars from japan normally have low km’s as they don’t really get driven much, compared to other countries
Also Yanase is Ya- Na- Seh
I changed the menus to English
@@TheStraightPipes Tsumaranai desu 😔 (boring)
I prefer the OEM grille and star on the hood than the big logo on the aftermarket grille. It looks much more subtle and classy but if that's not what you want, then the current grille doesn't look bad.
What a weird coincidence how we were talking about these things earlier in the year. 😅
What a coincidence indeed haha
Before I was drooling over the R34 but now I really dig the E55 AMG. Thanks Jacob
Much cheaper too
Waaaaaaay cheaper specially here in Morocco you can find a berline version with 10k$-15k$
This is the best lookin wagon you have had on this channel... unghhh I need one
Jakub: SUPER AMAZED BY HIS CAR AND THE FACTS
Yuri: That’s interesting.
for 2005 that launch was most excellent
Honestly, getting LHD cars from Japan are a lot cheaper than getting them here. I've been looking at getting another RHD car from Japan, and its so much cheaper just importing it through someone than buying it from someone here who has one. Great purchase on the AMG. One of my favourite vehicles out there.
5:39 keeep it the way it is!! Congrats on the new ride, its awesome!!
Ultimate car video. So satisfying. Affordable. So much to love. Congrats on a great purchase!
Your enthusiasm for the new whip is infectious. Congrats 🎉
I bought a W211 E55 last year. A few wrinkles in the first year, but it's dead reliable now and I love it. Great on purchase.
Fantastic buy! I'd definitely say OEM grille with the raised badge
Owned a 2006 S55 AMG and a s65 AMG and did a slew of mods to it. I absolutely loved both cars. They were animals. Big Body Benz hustled!
That Kompressor spooling up.....SWEET!
make sure to try out all your hidden features. I own a 2009 E6.3 AMG, in silver I LOVE IT!!! I learned all the hidden features. Fave is the recirc button, hold down and all the windows and sunroof closes and AC comes on. The key fob can open and close the 4 windows too
Not officially insured through Hagerty unless we see Camisa in your vid. This car is truly beautiful...congrats, Jakub!
I have a silver CLS55 AMG as my family car. 600hp! FLAWLESS. I took it to harris hill raceway. Beast on the track too
You forgot to open the secret compartment !! Below the hazard triangle is a silver button click it will raise open
Replace the grille for the slat and get the raised star... favorite part of my E55 is when I floor it and the star lifts up with the front of the car
Drive that car in the rain and open the window a bit. Small hint. Waterfall…. Without those things
OEM grille and the bonnet star for the win!!!!
Rain guards used to be really popular in the U.S. as well. Great for a rainy day to keep the windows from fogging and keep the rain from getting in. Some like the look of them on certain cars. Many people still use them just not as much now a days.
Loving the videos back to back C6 ZO6 and the E55 wagon! Both my personal favorites!
Congrats, sir. Amazing family car for an outstanding price.
Leave the grill and add the star but black star. Thing is rad!
Oh yuri n jacob living their best life i swear 😂💙💯💫
Ash trays in the back.
"Oh. Hell yes"
Lol, I loved that response.
Again, my hearty congratulations to Jacob for the proud owner of that dream machine.
that thing is CLEAN and the engines are rock solid. Jelly AF. I had an 08 63 sedan but this is the one to have. watch the price skyrocket
