I still get great info from JC, thanks to him, he has helped thousands of people to learn this great hobby. I also want to thank his brother for keeping this channel up and say my thoughts are with you and your family
Great video JC. I've got 3 quads with IA6C receivers. Rebind every time, no fuss, no muss. One of my AWK 210s was dead last weekend because I couldn't rebind the X6B in the field. I've got two more IA6Cs on order, and yes I'm blaming JC...
JC thank you for yet another great video. Also on behalf of the guys dealing with the fs-a8s issue. Thank you for making the reference to the thread on RCGroups
Hey Mate thanks for your hard work you put in on all your videos iam new to this hobby and i am in the process of building a 250 size quad off your omnibus f3 videos Great work easy to follow thanks.
The IA6C is my preferred receiver as well. Flysky really needs to come out with a small full range receiver like the frsky XM+. Fitting the IA6C in my 130 quad was a pain in the ass.
JC i should have changed a8s rx to the x6b rx in my eachine falcon 120.after 2 weeks of testing all worked fine.yesterday it flew away.just within 150 feet away i lost it.i did test failsafe like on all my quads.so stupid was just having so much fun and the range was good for the area i fly.130$ gone with the wind.i actually avoided a hawk attack and chased it into the woods the day before.my eachine vtail 210 now has the new x6b with 2 antennas and so will my next falcon 120.
thanks great information once again.i just notice this video after installing a8s in my falcon 120.i have an early version of the x6b that only has 1 antenna wire it caused my vtail 210 to crash so now have ordered the new one with 2 wires.the ia6c is next.
The A8S (v2) is super sensitive to interference in some quads. Have three of them in various brushless micros and out of the three one worked flawlessly while i had to reposition the second one and wrap the third one in aluminum foil to stop the signal loss/brownouts. Might also be a good idea to add some filtering caps.
I love the turnigy evolution but i've had no luck using the fsa8s with it. I've tried v1 and v2 versions of the receiver. Both worked for about 10 flights then they started acting real crazy. My quads would fly fine for a few seconds then just lose connection not even 30 feet from my transmitter. My throttle would get stuck on its last recorded value so i almost had a fly away into a neighbors house once. The full size receivers are where its at.
Nice vid as always. I agree but only If you were going to the length of messing around you did on those, Given a lot of your viewers won't have your skills at removing connectors (I simply can't be bothered) and run the risk of destroying the receiver I use the X6B. The connector on the turnigy sticks out almost half again the length of the receiver, it's incredibly annoying in pretty much any build and gets damaged easily. It also has horrible plastic wires unlike the silicon ones of the X6B. In most of my builds thickness is not an issue, but length surely is so that's why my turnigy receivers are in a pile in my garage. Anyhow, thanks for all the vids, I've learnt a lot from your posts.
I use the X6B almost exclusively, works great but I do hot glue the antennas, so they don't pop off. (so cheap and easy to replace (about $1 at Banggood), if you damage one). Also, I usually use double-sided tape to attach them to the underside of the top plate of my models.
Great vid as usual, hey if you don't need those x6b's - I'll put 'em to use! Really need like 3 or 4 more ia6c rx...back order..story of my life, haha. It's like a hot Christmas toy that's impossible to get (mostly due to scalpers) comes out about every other week in this hobby.
Regarding the A8S. The problem seems to stem from high powered 3S and 4S builds. There seems to be some sort of EMF or RF interference that cuts them out. On smaller brushless builds they seem to work okay. On X6B versus ia6C. I've had several ia6Cs just die for no reason. Similar to how the ia6b used to just die for no reason. I haven't had that with the X6B.
I have a question, when you TX in bind mode, and kwad power-up how are you gettin around the different endpoints for each kwad! When I tried this the endpoints from one Kwad to the next is different, so what do you do in this situation??
hi i currently have flysky radio's. Can i bind flysky receiver with the turnigy evolution - I use flysky protocol and have eachine 120, 130, kingkong 65 and eachine fb90 - Please advise
Hi JC, your video series on the Turnigy Evolution really helped making my decision to transition from a Taranis X9E (yeah) to the Evo. Love the size of the Evo. Two questions remain in my mind: 1) Is there a way for the TGY-ia6c to send RSSI data to the BetaFlight OSD (using the infamous Omnibus f4 v2 FC)? I relied a lot on the FrSky stuff to do that via OSD and not via radio telemetry. Seems it's nearly impossible to find any info on that. 2) Can the RSSI telemetry on the Evo be calibrated? seems like it's a matter of calibration as I believe 99% if not all of Evo users experience what you have demonstrated in this video.
I have an IA6C receiver that came in a drone I bought.. will this link to a FlySky FS-I6. so far no luck.. I agree about the antenna connection.. those clip-ons like to pop off with impact or vibration.
hey bro maybe u can help me. i got a tgy ai6c and my antenna fell off and in the prossesof repairing it the souldering pad to ome of the antennas came off, are there any extra leads on the board? i thought i mighta heard u say something like that on another reciever or video thanks bro
Thank you dude! I really appreciate you doing this comparison. I only have 1 quad at the moment and I have the fs i6 radio for now. Would you say that I should be good with either ia6c or the x6b? Right now the ia6c is out of stock and I need a replacement. Ok to go with the x6b you think? Side note: the balance lead of my good battery got chopped in my prop after I came loose while attached to a battery meter I use... long story short I want to use vbat instead now lol. Thanks again man!
Thanks for all the great content!! The flysky x6b seems to be the best option since it's in stock for me. What replacement antenna should I use after I break the originals? Amazon has some Irctek antenna but the length is different and I'm not sure how big a deal that is for long range?
is there any way to get the old 1st generation flysky turnigy receivers to work with evolution i have 4 models with them in and they all work great just i would like an evolution due to the small size and so i can eventually get some telelmetry on my models the receivers that were bundled with a 9xr, and turnigy 9x ?
? lol fs-x6b voltage sensor you really just need middle positive wire to vbat pin on board right no uart and what you get is true voltage ? or do you need to do something beyond that sorry I have searched your stuff cant find it. I know two wires on sensor jst are ground not sure why though. its an f4 board. and thanks for knowledge drops have learned a lot
Hey blue falcon, Some days ago I saw a video about changing all motor directions in betaflight. th-cam.com/video/RPuFGK_dEXE/w-d-xo.html What do you think about this?
I've seen guys doing this, and Raceflight has incorporated a system that lets you reverse direction even easier. I don't have too many thoughts on it. The two reasons for this is 1. It keeps dirt off the camera lens, and 2. It supposedly makes performance in turns better. The dirt on the camera thing is true, thats easy to prove. But the performance in turns thing is hard to prove. I've tried both and personally I cant tell a difference, but I'm not saying the difference isn't there. I would have to do more testing to get an accurate answer. But I see no cons or bad sides to doing this.

Rip JC. May Project Blue Falcon live forever!

I've had this happen on my 5" build. It gets very "laggy". Definitely some interference issues.
I have a question, when you TX in bind mode, and kwad power-up how are you gettin around the different endpoints for each kwad! When I tried this the endpoints from one Kwad to the next is different, so what do you do in this situation??
Ps any recent flysky radio will bind with any of these. If you bought a flysky i6 with its brick receiver feel free to swap.
I'm using the A8s on my race quad on SBUS with Raceflight. I'm not having any issues with range.
Have you had any issues with the A8s yet?
hi. how can i get the rssi from the ia6c?
from the x6b i know the place who i need to solder a tiny cable.

The IA6C is on backorder everywhere!
Does that not mean with the ia6c someone could put there evolution into bind mode and hijack your quad when you power up without the transmitter on?
Would be great if they were in stock anywhere. Haven't flown in 2 weeks, sucks. About ready to sell my Evolution.

I've never tried them, but the protocol might not be the same. If not then no, you'll have to use different receivers.
is it possible to install an ia6c receiver into a emax hawk 5 racing drond
R.i.p. dude
IA6C is hard to find it seems to be out everywhere.
You didn't show what was hooked up to the alt b/r wires which us noobies need to know. Thanks!
Where do u buy your clear shrink tube
Seems you may need a m2.5 screw to fit the x6b in your fc stack and most
Stacks use the m3.
Thanks. Good explanation. Helps.

really want to fly the hawk 5 with my turnigy evolution thanks
good day will the frsky receiver xm plus work with my turnigy evolution?
danian irons no
where can i get replacement antennas for the ia6? Great videos!
Brian Hallock I just bought some from Get fpv they look like they will work
or can you bind the hawk 5 with the turnigy evolution
this does help thank you.
other small receivers for flysky : fs82 or fs-rx2a
is that a kingkong 100 frame ?
the iA6B also works with the evolution, although it is a pain to de-pin it. And the range is lacking. But if you have one, it will work.
Rob Fleming ia6b has the best range of those...
mine cuts out way sooner than the others. worst failsafe crash ive ever had. but you may be right.
A little bit of hot glue on the U.Fl connectors will help keep them from popping off.
just 1 binding only....u cant create over 20 models different for 1 binding...
Has anybody tried this receiver? Thinking about buying a Evo but not sold on the recievers yet. www.gearbest.com/radios-receiver/pp_619146.html
IA6C will bind with Flysky radios right?
Not sure. I've never used a Flysky radio.
Exact same Protocol. Yes it will. I have an i6S radio and it works just fine.
Can confirm X6B and A8S will work with Flysky i6. Should also work with iA6A/B/C - same protocol.

DO NOT BUY FS-A8S! YOU WILL LOSE YOUR QUAD!!!
