Debussy’s music is often described as "impressionist", but he often rejected the title. Either way his music is the perfect counterpart for visually representing the themes that inspired his songs. Each scene in this video depicts the song's theme:
1. Rêverie is a day dream, so this scene is a nice spot under a shady tree to day dream as the clouds pass by.
2. Arabesque is a form of artistic decoration consisting of surface decorations based on rhythmic linear patterns. I didn’t think a design like that would make a very interesting scene so I created this one with a little arabesque baluster for the stairs.
3. Clair de lune is based on Paul Verlaine’s poem that was inspired by the paintings of Jean-Antoine Watteau. In attempt to capture this masterpiece visually I went with a melancholic moonlit scene and a warm campfire painted in the style of Watteau. The words from the poem mention “with the calm moonlight, sad and lovely,” which I believe Debussy perfectly captures with his arrangement. The title was originally called “Promenade Sentimentale” which means a sentimental walk.
4. Pagodes are towers in eastern Asia usually with roofs curving upward at the division of each story and erected as a temple or memorial. This scene consists of a zen garden featuring a towering pagoda. The song was heavily influenced by Gamelan music that Debussy first heard in 1889.
5. Bruyères is a small village in northeastern France and the song was inspired by the purple heather covered fields near there. This scene is a serene view from the heather covered fields overlooking the village.
6. La cathédrale engloutie means “The Sunken Cathedral” and is based on the ancient Breton myth in which a cathedral, submerged underwater rises up from the sea. Sounds can be heard of priests chanting, bells chiming, and the organ playing, from across the sea. The cathedral then sinks back down into the ocean and the organ is heard once more, but from underwater. For this scene I’ve recreated the cathedral rising and sinking from the ocean.
7. La fille aux cheveux de lin translates to “The Girl with the flaxen Hair”. This scene is an impressionist style painting of the girl with flaxen hair standing in a field on a warm summer day.
8. Reflets dans l'eau means “reflections on the water”, this scene has a couple of swans with their reflections on the water.
9. Sarabande is a stately court dance of the 17th and 18th centuries that evolved from an earlier suppressed Spanish dance. Debussy, referring to how it should be played said it should be “rather like an old portrait in the Louvre” This scene is representative of a baroque era portrait you might find in an old museum, however because my animation skills are limited I went with a more simplistic diorama scene depicting the dance that became popular throughout Italy and France.
10. Prélude is the first movement in the Suite bergamasque. Bergamasques refers to masked festivals in the ancient Italian theatre tradition. The song feels like a celebration and is in a baroque style so for this scene I went with a sort of Italian festival in Bergamo in the style of Jean-Antoine Watteau.
There were three other songs recorded that didn’t quite fit the vibe of the lower 432Hz tuning so I’ll be releasing those with the 440Hz version at a later date.

Bullshit 432 Hz... Every note on the piano is a combination of 15 to 20 frequency bands, that to of complex intensities.
This is great .. take classic music and convert into some trash useless product...
I like Debussy, I love Debussy xD
Hello, you wrote, "Arabesque is a form of artistic decoration consisting of surface decorations based on rhythmic linear patterns. I didn’t think a design like that would make a very interesting scene so I created this one with a little arabesque baluster for the stairs."
It is also a position in ballet where the dancer poses standing on one leg while the other leg is held out behind them. It's a beautiful pose and I can't help but wonder if Debussy was not musing over a graceful ballerina doing arabesques to his enchanting music. If you're to ever share Debussy's Arabesque in a separate video using AI art, perhaps it could render a ballerina performing arabesques.
Thanks for the compilation of some of the greatest music ever composed.

I listened to Arabesques no 1 as my dog played in the sun one recent morning. The beauty of the moment left me so peacefully there. Just there. "Heaven" I thought.
Good stuff, friend. 👍
Being able to hear the slight crackles of the needle on vinyl really make this quite enjoyable. And very relaxing.
😂😂 so happy you pointed this out as I thought I had faulty speakers 😅😅
Debussy’s music must quench the thirst of the heart of hectic modern people, and evoke comfortable feelings and a peace of mind
imposing false universals on others obviously still quenches the heart of pre-modern devotees

I began loving Debussy when I was a child and listened my sister playing Arabesque No 1 and at the piano... I shed tears of emotion when faced to such beauty
I am not religious, but this is so beautiful, it makes me believe there must be a God! This is another world! ❤
Totally agree❤
Religious and believing in God are two separate things.
And which god would that be? There's about 1000
Yes! Because you were created in his image he is written on our hearts and our spirits know him. Ask him to reveal himself to you.
Tu es une création de Dieu ❤
I can keep listening to this for hours, it's so relaxing.

Thank you! Clair de lune already is beautiful, but this version in 432 is amazing. I can close my eyes and lock in and it will draw out deep emotions. My ears are defining what my eyes can’t in another dimension of beautiful that draws out tears. Thank you for this amazing set. God bless

The Wonderfulness and Greatness and Attraction of Debussy is immeasurable
The list of pieces is wrong. The first is not Claire de Lune, but Reverie.
This is the right list:
00:00 Reverie
05:43 Arabesques N° 1
10:40 Clair de lune
16:13 Pagodes
28:29 Bruyères: Calme
25:29 La cathédrale engloutie
32:35 La fille aux cheveux de lin
35:16 Reflets dans l'eau
40:48 Sarabande
46:08 Prélude
Thanks for the heads up! Yeah I have no idea what happened there when I copy and pasted my list, fixed it now
Merci
In the vast symphony of life, classical music is the timeless melody that echoes in the chambers of the heart, an art form that transcends the limitations of time and space. 🎶💖
Can you please explain what "transcends the limitations of time and space" really means? Thanks

It helps me feel normal and healed. I was frustrated and it was a great relief. Thank you very much🙏✨
I have never heard so beutiful performance for Debussy as this.
I surpose this attractive effect may come also from the pitch of 432Hz.
I would agree that it does create a different listening experience, thank you for listening! 🙏
Is the piano tuned to 432?@@classicaloasis

Congratulations on the beautiful selection of works and the explanations of each song. I am passionate about the pianistic work of Debussi and Satie. Please produce a similar video for Satie.
Clair de lune is just on a different level, so insightful, a true masterpiece.

This is a truly first rate version of Clair de lune. Just fantastic, up there with Victor Borge and others. Hats off to Artem Tenkeli for this performance.

great mixtape- I love your choices and sequence.
This is a beautiful interpretation. Who is the pianist and did Debussy used 432 tuning?
Artem Tenkeli, it’s unlikely that Debussy played any pianos tuned to 432Hz. Around his time most piano makers tuned anywhere from 435Hz-440Hz, maybe even higher.
Heavenly music! A real treat for the soul.

I'm usually not impressed or moved by a lot of piano playing. Oftentimes times the keys are struck rather harshly and without dynamic. Here, Debussy's touch and taste are sublime. It's quite the difference maker between mere piano arpeggios and heart-felt music that moves and soothes.
❤
Commentaire de Debussy : "Il faut jouer mes pièces (de piano) en faisant oublier qu'un piano a des marteaux !"
I love this! I’d say he masterfully achieved this with his music.
