there are overhaul every 11k hour operation, when everyday work about 11 hour, than the cat has work for 1000 days, if work for 16 hours a day than there are 687 workdays, so that would be overhaul for every 2 years
no, You're wrong, 11k means there are need 11k hours to complete the overhaul process. so if a machinist work 200 hours in a month so there would be need 55 machinist to complete overhaul in a month
@@tepskincaretangerang9382 Hahahaha, no you're way off and wrong. 11,000 hours is the time the top end is due to be overhauled. That's not how long it takes in man hours. The 3516's we have in Antarctica get a top end every 7500 hours. So less than one full year of running 24hrs a day.
@@inothome why so frequently? I remember cat manual gives a guidance calculation that includes total fuel used since last overhaul. To me 7k hrs looks too frequent. Cat 3512/16 need to give 12k hrs for upper half and I mean just CHeads and turbos and 50k hours for total overhaul.
@@dieselengines1760 Depends on the RPM, the usage and climate. We run them at 1800 RPM and they are prime rated. So they get more wear than a 900 RPM standby generator would. We have a big issue with valve recession too, so well before a top end we have already installed a few heads on the engine.
Common problem on cat 3500 prime 1800 rpm, we suspect high intake temperature (90 celcius) to be the root cause, also we were running a heat plate exchanger for heating the camp. Frequent overhaul and major valve recess (experience from Nunavik, Quebec)@@inothome
No Second team. Hope they don't do it more than twice a week! On the turbo free wheeling , misc oil no load ,have seen a turbo seize on a 12 cylinder cat under full load you will never forget it! Month later holed a piston spun a rod bearing , they should have gotten some guys from a co like this would have saved mega money.
Most repetitive job ever, first one is cool , the rest are just a boring ballbuster. Finished the last one in 2017 after 30 years. Dont miss it one bit. Neat video though. 👍
Nope. If only you knew how much valvetrain and or vakves and cylinder head trouble had it would blow your mind. We have have 3 of these 3516's on our dredge and usually do this service around 10k hours.
Hello Sir,
Did you used Pneumatic tool for giving angle torque to cylinder head?
Perfect job Done
3512 major overhaul in tug board how times take to make it
Cómo reparan los múltiples de escape? Le ponen alguna pasta en los manguitos y colectores?
2:50 Turbocharger is spinning
There is enough overpressure in the engine room for the turbo to spin :)
Thomas T i was wondering about that.... what happens if someone sticks a finger in there??

I thought it took 11,000 hours to rebuild, from the title.

That poor turbo shaft turning with the wind with no lubrification
