      Thank you. Took me like 3-4 test drives at different dealers lol. That’s the main reason why I kept looking around to get used to it, then finally pulled the trigger on the one I have now. Actually working towards a ZL1.

    better interior than the mustang, handling right there with the M4, power to rival the corvette, and crazy good balance. looks like a winner.

      +justin bouche aint that the truth, just wait till the ZL1 comes out... oh ya!

    • @coureurdebois
      @coureurdebois 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Todd Ison im also really interested in the 1LE, i really want to see how that does, seeing as the ZL1 will lily have most of the handling hardware from the 1LE then the LT4 to boot.

    • @Staki6908
      @Staki6908 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      justin bouche Heck ya bud both will be amazing cars no doubt. I'm honestly torn between which one to get (although price might come into factor). Just have driven 2016 z06/z07 a lot lately... you can't use the power (legally) unless you want to track it a lot... where as in the 1LE can still get to hammer down on it a good bit *somewhat legally*. Great job by GM though has me sold!

    • @coureurdebois
      @coureurdebois 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Todd Ison well, if you're looking at the Z06 but dont want the un-manageable power there is always the grand sport, looks like a beast, and has that crazy new "teal" color interior. if it was me i would go with a GS over a 1LE if i had the money for a Z06, but the ZL1 is still badass. good position to be in haha.

    • @Staki6908
      @Staki6908 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I got two little ones that have to go in the back from time to time or I would get the Z06 or even the Grandsport. I actually do like the teal color although my buddies think it looks terrible lol. Anyways its a family member who bought the z06 that i've been driving so I can always "borrow" that one hehe. Ya it is a great time for muscle cars and amazing that the hard choice is which GM car to get really shows who is dominating the market at least in my opinion.

      :D I think this car is fantastic. Haven't had as much fun test driving something since the E63. But, I respectfully disagree... I think this person's tone was a bit deliberate, but I just heard him saying how good everything was, with the exception of that window... As a matter of fact, since he WAS so blunt about the window, it made his other praise more genuine sounding? Just my two cents...

    • @TheFirstCause
      @TheFirstCause 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I came here to comment the same thing... a very WTF moment in the review. The 8 speed in this car is really the first to make me actually WANT an auto. I've been driving manual on different cars for almost 18 years. The speed in which autos shift now... and the objective fact that they are the faster cars now... is EXCITING... I love that shit. It is modern, it is the future. I like embracing new tech... the days of manual being the only option are done... there are just a whole lot of people that still don't understand that and are holding desperately onto the days in which manual was indisputable king. Sure... it is still a lot of fun... but that is the debate... which is more fun... not which is better or makes you badass or something.

      I have a Forester. The Camaro is a very viable performance option for people who aren't willing to, or able to, pay for the more expensive stuff. I used to argue from your perspective, and I've realized how unnecessarily douchey that argument really is.

  • @jamelmoore4356
    @jamelmoore4356 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    This is by far the best Camaro ever! GM sure knows how to engineer a serious performance machine! And for the first time ever, the Camaro actually has an attractive interior; albeit a tad gaudy with the giant rotary AC controls and glossy MyLink touchscreen!
    However, its major shortcomings (the poor visibility, unusable rear passenger space, high SS value) are enough to keep me looking at the competition! I prefer the Mustang's styling and smoother ride, plus the Challenger's usability and ZF 8-Speed!

  • @TheAngryHusky

    I have a 2015 1LE Camaro. It's an amazing drivers car and it would take a lot for me to trade it, though the 2016's are very impressive. In my opinion 2017 is going to be the year to get a 6th gen if you are planning to, considering the new 1LE, ZL1 and probably even the Z28 will be avaible.

    Great job reviewing a great car (yes, I own one). The best part was a young man who actually prefers a manual trans over the automatic. I couldn't believe it when I saw the "Rev Match" in a car with a stick. But as you said, it defaults to it being off. Thanks for a great presentation, Cappy.

    Although the 6 spend manual is more fun to drive the 8 speed is actually "great" it will crush a manual every time. I enjoyed the 8 speed and initially I was going for a manual. I will say the Challenger 8 speed feels like it shifts slightly faster. Also the performance numbers you state are for the auto not the manual 0-60 in 4 sec and mid 12's for 1/4 mile are only attainable without mods with the auto. Love the heads up display in your video great job showing that.

    I don't get all the hate towards the 8 speed. Shifts are super smooth and barely noticeable. It's a couple tenths quicker from 0-60 and in the quarter mile than the manual. The only thing I can see behind is the paddle shifter's reaction time to the inputs, the shifts are fine but a little delayed. Other than that the 8 speed is an awesome transmission. It's like 1 critic says something negative about it, and then everyone jumps on the bandwagon and says it's garbage.

      +1LE Camaro actually it's because despite its impressive performance it was too expensive for the average consumer. Besides, it was the last real Camaro. The 5th gens didn't even have the red, white, and blue stripe logo. They share nothing I'm common with Camaro heritage

    • @VaunShiz

      +Unbearable Pain no because the camaro was priced the the same as the mustang so that's not why, it's because it was to ugly and was rock bottom in sales and the new crash standards came and they didn't want to invest the money..

      +saquist You mean complains about things that are wrong with a car? Sight lines and belt lines are two areas where an automaker can make mistakes.
      Also, not a car guy? Because I know two terms for styling portions of the car? Please...
      I guess owning a 1965 Ford F100 and a 1984 Mercedes wagon also don't make me a car guy? I guess running races at LeMons don't make me a car guy? Turning a Lap at the 'Ring doesn't make me a car guy?
      You know what makes *you* not a car person? Bitching about bullshit and dissing other people who like cars...

    • @saquist

      The Hooniverse
      I MEAN... A video that comes out months after everyone else has reviewed the car and the only good insight on the vehicle is don't get the 8 speed manual because it's not very good.
      IF you're such a good car guy WHY is that the only insight you scraped up? Are you really passing off this rehash piss as a "Car Guy"'s insight?
      Every knows the camaro has poor sight lines. everyone comments on it like it's not news and people still buy the car.
      And SORRY...but I just don't care about your credentials, I care about what you can tell me about the car. Every affordable great sports car is drying up. Nissan doesn't make 350z anymore, Mitsubishi is on the last EVO. The WRX STI is less than equal. Level all the piss and vinegar you want but at the end of the day this video wasted time saying what everyone else said.

    Nice review - I enjoy the style and atmosphere of your videos. While I realize the Camaro is lighter and can handle better, I'm still infatuated with the Challenger Scat Pack or SRT 392. I'll be in the market in the not-so-distant future and plan on test driving both the SS and aforementioned Challengers. Since you've driven both (Scat Pack and SS), which car do you prefer? I should mention I'm an "older" driver in his mid 50's looking for a great highway road-trip car. Because of this, I'm leaning towards the Dodge. Is my thinking correct here? Thanks and keep the videos coming!

    • @TheHooniverse
      @TheHooniverse  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +MN saint I really love that Challenger too... I think you'll appreciate the internal sight lines better in the Dodge. Both cars are good, but I enjoy the Challenger a bit more. I'll readily admit that the Camaro would kick the Dodge's butt on a track, but that isn't my main concern with a vehicle.

    • @MNsaint
      @MNsaint 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good point. I look at it this way (and this is purely a personal thing): How often will I be on the track with my car vs. how often will I be on regular roads? That said, I don't think one could go wrong with either car. When it comes to the current choice of "muscle/pony" cars, we're living in great times. Thanks for replying.

    Awesome video. Mustang is out ponied. The Challenger lost. Camaro is the sport car of 2016 and beyond. When you weigh it all. It is okay to hate Camaro because everyone else is either late to the game, or not even playing. I drove the SS1, and SS2 with the 8 Speed automatic and the 6 speed manual. GM has hit the gold with this car. You can hate the beat sports car value in the world. Cool, that means more Camaro foe the rest of us. Yeah, this coming from a former Mustang fan.

    1:14 The 8 speed is a solid transmission, and the new 10 speed is nasty also. They are tanks & are very consistent transmissions.

    You can always tell when Chevy builds a great car, because people will look for anything they don't like, and make it a big deal as to effect the quality of the car. This is 2016 not 1986 buddy.

      so we can just except things that we don't like... You've just watched a review, which is an opinion. It doesn't have to match *your* opinion, but it presents the hosts opinion.
      Did you not hear the part where I talk about how great the car is? I'm not also allowed to tell you about the parts I don't enjoy?
      Seems pretty lame to just shovel bullshit at your face...

      @ricorob100 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +The Hooniverse I assume you can you can apply that to yourself as well huh? Assuming everyone needs, can afford, or entitled to a car with a suede lined dashboard huh. I for one am grateful to know how you take care of a car, will protect its longevity as well. Just because it has plastics parts (in which majority of cars have) never determines its a bad car. They (GM) did something right if the current Camaro is selling better that the vehicles in its class.

    Funny... People getting into the Stang vs Camaro camps! These American cars have come a long way! Love this new Camaro! Yes stock to stock it's faster than the 5.0 but there is about a $4-6k difference in price. I drove both and quality wise one isn't better than the other as they are both very good. In my opinion if you like to modify your car the Mustang is the less expensive to start with. The coyote motor with its forged internals loves forced induction and is very dependable even at over 700 whp. In fact for $50k you will have a mustang that will walk away from a Hellcat and even most cars costing much more. But in the end... Camaro, Charger/Challenger, Mustang... Goodness you really can't make a bad choice! They all serve American Muscle in just a slightly different way!!

    Besides looks, what don't you like about gen 3, 4 and 5? Gen 4 in particular was a real heavy hitter in the 90s
    No they aren't as gorgeous as a 1969 charger rt, no they aren't as refined or fast or comfortable as the super cars of today, but they each held their own during their time.
    They are each extremely cheap now aswell. Not so much gen 5 of course, but I paid just over 2 grand for a 4th gen with a 5.7 v8 and a 14.0 quarter mile stock. Not too shabby for what you pay

    • @TheHooniverse
      @TheHooniverse  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jeremiah I agree that right now, they're great power value for money. Just growing up, they never did much for me... I was more attracted to the Ford Mustang. I don't really actually *hate* the Camaro, haha... It's just never been the car for me, is all. I may have gone a bit dramatic in the video.
      As the years pass, I find them more appealing though... I'll admit that. I saw a Gen II the other day that was just excellent.

      +The Hooniverse I see where you are coming from, fox body mustangs and SN 95 mustangs were both awesome cars I love them myself.
      I just wonder what it is exactly that turned you off from them. Looks? Handling? Interior? Couldn't have been strait line performance that's pretty much all they do ha ha

  • @Oreo_5oh
    @Oreo_5oh 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    It has direct fuel injection. Good luck modding these to get more with just bolt ons! That's why the newer mustangs weren't direct injected so people can mod them and get more out of mods.

    The new GM 8 speed has been revamped for 2016 with much faster up and down shifts as much as 1200X's for up shifts and 500X's for down shifts, much smarter track recognition which can repeat track lap times from your best laps. Also, It's faster than the 6spm, and by a wide margin. The 8spa 0-60 in as low as 3.90 seconds, the 6spm does it in 4.20 seconds. 1/4 mile 11.95 in the 8spa, 12.30 in the 6spm. The 8spm at the Nurburgring was faster than the 6spm by just over 3 seconds! Enough said, you need to do some more homework on the Chevy's you hate so much ;-)
