Reminds me so much of the last four years of my late wife. She lost the ability to do everything over that time, to include not knowing me, which was the most devastating. Together 51 years. Together again soon for Eternity.
This song should be an anthem for anyone dealing with this horrible illness. Glen (through the song)shows the back side of the disease.. and the fact that there is a "small silver lining to it all". Just lost my aunt to alzheimers December 19,2023 it was heartbreaking to see her health decline. I came across Glenn's documentary and saw all the similar things him and my aunt were doing. Now I can't stop listening to this song it's sad but beautiful 😢

I just finished watching the documentary for the hundredth time, give or take a couple, and it just leaves me crying because I know all too well what it's like to have your parent get Alzheimer's Disease. When it gets to this part and it tells that members of the famed Wrecking Crew were accompanying him. I guess that would be a cool honor considering he had been a member of that group of studio musicians. Makes me wonder how they got through this. This song really tells what it's like.

My dad battled it and now my mom is. I am right here with her. I will not leave my precious mom for anything in the world. This is such a terrible disease. One of the greatest! I met him in new orleans when he did a concert at the Marriott hotel. I worked his security detail. He stopped and thanked each one of us. And yes I got to see the concert back stage. One of life's treasures!

Definitely hard to watch this without tearing up. To have enjoyed the music of this talented man most all of my life leaves me wondering how something like this could happen. Though I volunteered for many years playing music in nursing homes to once great citizens taken by this dreadful disease. It was difficult to see the fading away process. I witnessed so many family members hurt so badly.

Brought tears to my eyes...What sad story life can be ,We will all have too face the end one day ..No cure for Alzheimer's Donot not eat , junkfood , Baking goods , No alcohol ,No restaurant food , no damged fats like mayonnaise ,fried foods , no vegetable oils ,no dairy , no fatory chicken or meet full of hormones , pesticides and nitirites ! no toxic vitamin pills , No factory food , not drinking alcohol , not drinking city water , no fruit juice , no tropical fruit (sugar) .....only eating a very low carb diet , keep your blood sugar below 110 ! eating everything organic and keeping your blood sugar below 110 ! Control your cortisol ..Stress ,get rid of your debt ! sleep 10 hours a night , The less you eat the longer you will live , doing a fasting , going to sauna 5 times a week , detox your liver and kidneys with water and lemon .
I've never been a huge Glen Campbell fan, but, enough to recognize his voice. The first time I heard this song on the radio, I had already pegged the voice and turned it up. When I heard the words, I had to pull over, I couldn't see a damn thing, for some reason. I don't know who wrote this song, but to have Glen sing it was probably the most touching thing I've ever heard. Will always think of Galveston and this song when I think of him.

I lived this. The absent look in her eye. Not even realizing this is her daughter, sitting in front of her. The desperation, when she keep asking me to take her home, because her long deceased mother will be worried. Then the complete absence of thought, and the waiting for it to all be over. And the guilt for wanting her suffering to end. And also your own suffering to end, because you become trapped in an endless cycle of caring for someone, who doesn't even know they are on this earth. Many caregivers die before the person they are trying to care for, due to stress. It's a miserable life to have to live. There is no help for you, even with the best insurance. Mine had the best, and we got nothing, except a visit from a nurse a couple times a week, and someone who came and sat with her, once a week, for three hours. I guess that was when I was supposed to go have some fun. It wasn't. That's when I went to my room and cried.

Definitely hard to watch this without tearing up. To have enjoyed the music of this talented man most all of my life leaves me wondering how something like this could happen. Though I volunteered for many years playing music in nursing homes to once great citizens taken by this dreadful disease. It was difficult to see the fading away process. I witnessed so many family members hurt so badly.
Saw this whole film on PBS. Lovely.

Makes me cry I remember working with many sweet people on Alzheimer’s unit . God Bless those who have it as well as all caregivers. My great aunt had Alzheimer’s and it caused me to want to work and care for others going through it.

Brought tears to my eyes...What sad story life can be ,We will all have too face the end one day ..No cure for Alzheimer's Donot not eat , junkfood , Baking goods , No alcohol ,No restaurant food , no damged fats like mayonnaise ,fried foods , no vegetable oils ,no dairy , no fatory chicken or meet full of hormones , pesticides and nitirites ! no toxic vitamin pills , No factory food , not drinking alcohol , not drinking city water , no fruit juice , no tropical fruit (sugar) .....only eating a very low carb diet , keep your blood sugar below 110 ! eating everything organic and keeping your blood sugar below 110 ! Control your cortisol ..Stress ,get rid of your debt ! sleep 10 hours a night , The less you eat the longer you will live , doing a fasting , going to sauna 5 times a week , detox your liver and kidneys with water and lemon .

I've never been a huge Glen Campbell fan, but, enough to recognize his voice. The first time I heard this song on the radio, I had already pegged the voice and turned it up. When I heard the words, I had to pull over, I couldn't see a damn thing, for some reason. I don't know who wrote this song, but to have Glen sing it was probably the most touching thing I've ever heard. Will always think of Galveston and this song when I think of him.
It was written by Glen Campbell and Julian Raymond (who also produced it). Glen wrote it as a tribute to his wife.
Julian Raymond basically took things that Glen had said and wove it into a song. Glen sort of cracked a half joke, regarding Alzheimer's, saying something like "It's not as if I'm gonna miss anyone"
We will miss Glenn for a long time :)

I lived this. The absent look in her eye. Not even realizing this is her daughter, sitting in front of her. The desperation, when she keep asking me to take her home, because her long deceased mother will be worried. Then the complete absence of thought, and the waiting for it to all be over. And the guilt for wanting her suffering to end. And also your own suffering to end, because you become trapped in an endless cycle of caring for someone, who doesn't even know they are on this earth. Many caregivers die before the person they are trying to care for, due to stress. It's a miserable life to have to live. There is no help for you, even with the best insurance. Mine had the best, and we got nothing, except a visit from a nurse a couple times a week, and someone who came and sat with her, once a week, for three hours. I guess that was when I was supposed to go have some fun. It wasn't. That's when I went to my room and cried.
