Charles and Diana in Australia and Thailand (1988) | Royal Specials

On 2 February 1988, ITN aired a special programme covering the travels of Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales in Australia and Thailand. More specifically, "From Darwin to Bangkok" compiled footage of the Wales' trip to a crocodile farm in Darwin and highlights of the couple's three-day trip to Thailand to celebrate the 60th birthday of Thailand's King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Charles and Diana were hosted by the king and his wife, Queen Sirikit, and spent time with their fellow prince and princesses - including Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, the crown prince who would in 2016 ascend to the throne. As well as the capital of Bangkok, the Waleses visited the northern city of Chiang Mai as well as the region bordering Burma (officially renamed Myanmar in 1989).

Diana was an immature, rebellious, & manipulative young lady! Charles told her that he loved Camilla but wasn't allowed to marry her. Diana wanted to go ahead with the wedding believing that Charles could never divorce her. Remember, Charles asked Diana's older sister Lady Jane to marry him before Diana.
