Yes the glue line does show, but it not highly visible.What you mostly see is the wood grain change. I usually make it with 6 blocks of wood glued vertically together like Hal Taylor....there you see five glue lines and grain changes. This method leaves the entire front of the headrest as a single piece of wood and lines on the back. So I do like this method.

What did you use to sand the front curve? Also is the grain running vertical? Thanks
I did it by hand with a Festool RO90 sander
