Ya, thats what I love about these old Metroids, sequence breaking. I can't really remember where I did some crazy stuff to get Super Missiles early, but I did it cause its funny to kill Kraid with Super Missiles, it takes 1 shot.
2:15 Okay, I bought this game a couple of weeks ago and I'm having trouble getting the 100% because of the speed secrets... I guess I can pass to another game now, this is impossible
If you want some more metroidvania with a bit more challenging combat, try Hollow Knight. I'm currently playing it and having a lot of fun with its bosses.
Wow, it seems as though Nintendo decided to make item acquisition difficult with Zero Mission, if they expected players to figure out that trick on their own. Nice job! BTW, that heavy metal track at the end of the vid would've been perfect for the escape sequence :)
It's the same as running, when you hit the slope, continue pressing the direction you want to go, then, press down to shinespark. In the party i do that, if you want more info, jump while pressing left or right, with that you wont activate the effect, then, activate it in the upper part, and do another shinespark; you can deduce the rest xD
after the activation, quickly press the direction you want to go. In other words, you have to press A to jump and activate it, and the direction right after jumping.
@@mussim2919 keep on charging? Do you mean how to keep the charge? All you have to do is press Down after getting to full speed. You can't stop mid air. You need a slope or something to go into a running animation again first.
i discovcered all that by myself. if you look at the floor you can pretty much see the areas where you can do this but i still liked the video. It brangs back good memories that metroid only can.
You are probably going up the wall in the ball form then missing the edge when the block reappears. You need to stand up and shinespark up the wall, then you can immediately catch the edge.
holy shit i didn't realize the platform in the tall area of the last one was there to regain power, i thought you just had to jump down before it ran out. Thanks for making my life a lot easier!
wow, you're great at this...those are some of the techniques I can never do and some new secrets I didn't know about (esp. the last energy tank). you're a pro at this, great job! I could only beat the game with 73% collected items
I think that the last one is definitely the hardest. Especially the way you do it. I always end up falling through the floor instead of stopping half over the ledge like you did. It only means that I need another running start though. The one that you said is the hardest, I don't agree, its the one in the room above and to the right of 1:12. You know the one, boost - blaster - missile - sommersault. Augh, that ish is tough!
That. Was badass. The escape was really impressive. I didn't even know that route existed o_o (at least I don't remember it existing, it's been a while since I played Zero Mission) The video was really cool though. Makes me want to play this game again.
Pretty sure it's needed for 100% as far back as Super. Fusion then added the slope mechanics for regular Shinespark and Zero Mission followed up for Ballspark.
I actually did some of these by myself because I used a lot of Powerbombs and could see the Shinespark blocks everywhere. It got easier using a screenshot map and walkthroughs
I applaud you on this, but no offense, I figured most of these out on my own. BUT, the one in Tourian, the way I did it was a speed boosted and space jump all the way through the wall. I didn't know you could do it the way you did. And I had no clue about the speed boost run away. THAT WAS EPICALLY AWESOME!
Excelente, viejo. Aun asi, excelente.
like in any shinespark, press down. If you continue without stopping you are not flying, you are rolling, so you end up being dropped at the other side
@ajax1904 yep, after getting the Power Bombs go to the Glass tube hall thing and use a power bomb there, it will break and you can then head to the other areas.
@0940349 to get out of the pirate ship you have to go to the bridge made of glass and use the powerbomb and it breaks the glass, and to hold the speed booster when u use it you click down and then you have to keep using it on ramps and click down again that way you keep it going
I had already found a lot of these on my own, though I did not know that it is possible to spark while in ball form. That would have been useful to know.
@Kalebfenoir No kidding. I was just doing a new run on Zero Mission trying for 100% and I didn't know the full details on shinesparking. This guy is amazing... but why would the devs make it so ball-busting hard to get a few of those things? My left thumb was bleeding a bit earlier.
Great shinesparking there, and I didn't find the one in Chozodia that hard. It was pretty easy, but it's a bitch to do without the screw attack. It took me about 20 tries and nearly 45 minutes just to get it.
theres one in the space pirate ship where theres a pipe that u can break with a power bomb. but cant tell how to do it. i remember doing a small jump during the speed to jump into the 4 sppeed blocks....
o thanks, that's the one, but i saw someone else do it by jumping down while in shinespark-ready mode (y'know whe your flashing but you can move normally) and right before he hit the laser on the floor he shinesparked to the secret.
After you get the Power Bombs you have to go to some glass hall in the pirates ship and use one there, the glass will break and you can continue exploring. You should be able to find your way back to the main game then.
How do you keep active the shine spark? You seem to dash with the shine spark (without bursting full speed) activated in order to take it to next room. Because once you activate full burst it wont stop until you hit a wall or something.
Damn i hate you!! I suck so bad with the Shine Spark, i tried for like 3 hours straight to get the stupid energy tank in Chozodia/mother ship. Your very good at this game. I love sequence breaking, i did it and got Varia suit, screw attack, and super missle early, but it screwed me over one time and i was stuck in Nofair/ ridley area.
Do you think you could get the Energy Tank at 2:13 WITHOUT the Screw Attack? It’s possible, but you’ll need extensive training! Good luck, completionists 😉!
@Lordmeats Lol, i'm surprised you realized it was a korean guy singing, most people think its japanese... i did that because the audio desynched horrible in that part, so i replaced it with something. The ruined part is Tourian. After beating Mother Brain thats how it looks if you come back.

@WatchAndGameMr Nah, you've played just enough. Finding other spots where you can use shinespark is sooperfun. It can be used all over the place to get through some otherwise obnoxious rooms in seconds.
aaah, that was the question. Well, if you pay close atention, you will see that first i fire the beam and then i do the shinespark. So, you have to jump in a somersault, fire a shot and quicky press A while not pressing any direction, and quiclky input the direction to fly xD.

well, that energy tank is the hardest to get, that doesn't means that its hard at all, but its harder than the others =P. I didn't figure that out, and idk who figured that, i just saw that and i wanted to try myself xD
the area is easy to acces: get the power bomb bomb the glass tube leading from the ship to the ruins follow the left path and youre back in crateria.and from there go back to the mother brains room and there you are
just do as i show, shinespark after breaking the speed blocks in the morph ball state (it's the same, press down while you are going forward) and do as i show, jump up and shinespark right to take flight again. If you go straight without shinesparking there, you will be rolling, not flying, so you will be dropped after the cave.

There's a much easier way to get the Super Missile tank at 2:06. If you hold the charge into the room with the roaches, just stay put in the right corner, jump, and then shinespark to the left. None of that other stuff is needed. By the way, for anyone who's curious, the energy tank in the space pirate mother ship is a LOT easier once you've done it once. Shinespark is one of the best things with Metroid games,
so happy they included it in Other M

I don't really consider the first one to be a secret, I just used missiles to destroy the bugs on my first playthrough.
For the spot around 0:42, it didn't even occur to me that one cound do this easier with a Shinespark. I always tried using a regular Speed Boost Jump, which usually ended with me reloading savestates 9 billion times.
Also 2:01, is that roundabout way the intended strat??? Waaay too complicated, just store Shinespark before the set of Speed Booster Blocks in the connection tube. OTOH if you try grabbing both tanks in one go, that's probably the fastest route.
Also 2:37, do this one with Midair Shinesparks for extra style points (and faster probably).
Also, I know from experience that 3:42 is more likely intended with Space Boosting, due to the way the Speed Blocks are laid out.
4:18 with the back and forth is actually quite a bit cooler than I usually do it.
The final one is the only one I didn't know at all.
Speed Booster isn't needed anywhere really but in Norfair unless you want to collect everything then it's essential to have it
its needed where it needs to be....
You can Sequence break in Norfair in that long corridor section with the Speed boost tiles...
see ive completely forgot how to stop mid shine spark cause i know itll continue longer if i start it up and stop it for a second
You can hit any slope to reset the timer on it. I do it a few times here.
I got it in half the time it took me the first time I tried it.
I made the one from Chozodia on like my fifth attempt. The hard part was the first room where you have to keep charging the Shinespark until the next room, which is how you get a Powerbomb Tank in Fusion, which was also very hard to me. The rest was pretty easy, just charge it one more time in a slope to the left, and use it in a platform to the right
