I'm a car guy. 1) the GT series LP doesnt conjure GT aesthetic amongst car guys. Flames and chrome are more a Hot Rod aesthetic. Nice...but think 57 Chevy Hot August Nights at the drive in...Rockabilly. The GT SG series is more of a Grand Touring aesthetic. Racing stripes do come factory on real GT cars. Flames do not. 2) The Corvette series depicts a one year only '63 split window Stingray. That isn't the hood. That is the rear of the car where the rear stinger points backward to the rear bumper. It is a very distinct feature of a particular car made by Chevrolet that is quite rare. It is sought after by collectors. Does that make that guitar rare? I dunno. I'm a car guy. I fit these Neutrik jacks on most of the guitars I build with a jack in this position. They should be fitted properly, not like this example , drilling an oversize hole , painting the body then throwing it in , it should be let in and bedded in wood filler ( if necessary ) before finishing . They also come in black and the plug can be removed with one hand thumbing the release button .

Nitro finish checks because it's such a hard finish. the expansion and contraction of the guitar causes it. The metal in the metallic finish probably conducts the heat and cold better. Good review. I've had the red ghost GT model for about 10 years- it's a KILLER Classic rock machine and NEVER goes out of tune. The truss-rod is actually a double truss and the neck never needs adjusting.
63 Vette guitar ... its the split window tail built into the guitar ( one year only) ... not the hood...*I know you said you said you know little about cars.
I absolutely love it. I'm surprised, I'm not usually a fan of the gimmick guitars. This one is appealing to me, especially after you said it was ridiculously heavy. It's a hot rod.
The Les Paul GT looks great but the SG GTs look badass. One thing I think would've been cool about the Les Paul is if they couldve done the binding in chrome . Next gibson needs to do GTO models . I noticed early on when you were playing that GT that it was mirroring a red tint on the inlays which made it look cool but otherwise looks cool reflecting light.
I got an 89 les paul studio, and never really cared about the fancy,a les paul sounds like a les paul, but for resale i understand the fancy i guess, I just mess with the pickups, I've settled for vintage t-tops, but a 490R can be made to sound like one if you change the magnet from the alnico 2 to an alnico 5 short magnets, you can get off Ebay cheap, gives a whole new life to the sound, without buying new pickups- for the DIY type guys like me, Gen X ...but yeah love your vids and learn alot still
Have a satin LP Classic. Found that It polishes up as you play it . So the neck ,where I anchor my fingers and to a lesser degree where my arm rests is glossed up from playing.
I see the split window covered in comments but not the ghost flames. Ghost flames are done with the same or similar color to the main but lighter. Where standard hot rod flames would be bold and bright....like red/yellow over a black car.
I recently bought a cherry sunburst that was built in 2000, appears to fit specs of a heritage 59. I have played a vintage 74 Custom since I bought it new so I know my Gibsons. My "new" burst has the same truss rod as your GT, which had me wondering for a while; however this guitar is definitely the real deal in every aspect. It's nice to know that information about hex adjustable truss rods.
That guitar shouldn't be called the GT. because there's a car with the name the GT. that was produced by Ford, and was originally the Ford GT-40. it was specifically a European race car. that was produced in the early sixties. and made history in 1966 when the GT-40s. won LeManns taking first, second, and third, place and were raced for several more years until the rules were changed for that series. and Porsche began winning in that series. and the production of GT-40s stopped. and then in 2005 Ford introduced a tribute car called the Ford GT. the 40 stood for 40 inches which the height of the car at it's roof line. and Ford couldn't use the 40 due to copyright issues. so in 2005 it was simply the Ford GT. and Ford had a hidden agenda, and that was to go back to LeManns in 2006. fifty years later and win again and they did. the reason Ford built the original car. was because Henry Ford II wanted to purchase Ferrari. but Enzo Ferrari backed out of the deal. and Henry Ford II was mad about that. so Ford started the GT-40 program to specifically beat Ferrari and they did. so this is a short history of the car that bares the name GT.
The 490R and 498T pickups are highly underrated. Those are Gibson’s Alnico II magnets. If you like the slash pickups, they sound really close with a 50’s wiring harness.
I have never taken the truss rod cover off any of my SG guitars. Never had a neck warp on me so never had a reason to adjust the rod. Unlike my fenders and Jacksons, which seem to always need adjustment, my SGs never seem to bend. Ever.

The flames should be going from the top of the body towards the tail piece. Classic hot rod flames go from the front of the car to the back. This one just looks like someone’s stood it upright in the campfire! (Or it’s being burnt at the stake!). ;)

Hey I just got an Epiphone GT! COMPLETELY different in every way, but still a badass guitar, especially once I get a chance to drop dimebuckers and a floyd into it! Greetings and well wishes from Utah man!
It always makes me laugh when guitar companies try to Gender their products. Such a silly thing to do. I might understand like… travel sized kids guitars, maybe you’ve got a little girl who’s interested in guitar, but also really loves princesses or something. Or maybe you have a little boy who’s interested in princesses. So you get one of those, Walmart 3 quarter scale sparkly guitars. But honestly, Gibson never needed to do that. Plenty of male artists proudly play pink, or sparkly guitars. Plenty of female artists play tricked out, pin striped, flamed, etc guitars. It’s just not necessary. Especially on the “Goddess” series. Why do the electronics need to be simplified for female artists? I dunno. It’s just a goofy thing to do. Those Goddess guitars are really nice though! Take care!
I certainly have a new appreciation for this model! Many cool specs you don't find on other LP

Please… no… as a car guy please don’t ever talk about cars…
This model is what finally got me off the fence and I bought the Orange model! It is a great guitar, it’s my go to for 90% of the songs my band plays!
490's sound great, one of My fav stock gibson pickup
Love the inlays, actually the whole guitar is really cool even the checking !
A split window stingray SG. Damn.
I thought it was gonna be the Scotty Kilmer Signature model!
I think you should hold onto that one Trogly. You were rockin’ out on it! ;)
That thing sounds really good in all three positions when you throw some dirt on it. I watch you daily it's one of the best sounding guitars I have heard in a long time . Sometimes I binge watch old episodes. This guitar just impressed the hell out of me
That is a beautiful guitar.
I always wanted the black version of this guitar
i love this stuff..........That was not the hood but the back glass split window of the vette. Car Guy
dude you're improving your playing nice!
Hey I just got an Epiphone GT! COMPLETELY different in every way, but still a badass guitar, especially once I get a chance to drop dimebuckers and a floyd into it!
Greetings and well wishes from Utah man!
you have to try the slash les pauls my guy..
Take care!
You have a great show, Im hooked. Do a show at the hall of fame in Cleveland. At the Les Paul display!! You could go on for hours.....
Trogly please learn some new riffs, things are becoming predictable
Cool guitar and video! Thanks for sharing!
