- Three videos about the murder on 30th October 1983 of 16 year old Colette Aram, this was the first ever reconstruction on Crimewatch. Paul Stewart Hutchinson was charged with the murder, 26 years later in 2009.

The mom and daughter look just the same. I'm so sorry for their loss. They've been through hell for a lot of years. I sympathize with family and friends. A cross to heavy to carry.

@sarahmartin1409 yes we were told that in school apparently people will listen for more detail after that, because if you were fine you would say it in a conversation tone of voice.
Yes my sister works in the police force and always says " try not too scream at people in the night because people automatically think it's people being silly or messing about or an argument so then they don't want to get involved not that people are being awful its just human nature to protect yourself " Oc if your hurt and need help scream and try to call for help and try to get to a better lit area. People are more likely to stop.

crimewatch UK was awesome back in the 1980s, and collette aram case was the first ever case to be broadcast in a show that featured many reconstructions of notourious cases over the years.
The UK was going through a massive violent crime explosion in the 1980s - it ended up with the highest rate in Europe. The fact that so much of the UK was very run down due to deindustrialisation added a very grey, desolate and menacing feel to it all. So many of the cities and towns were full of abandoned buildings and wasteland. It was a pretty grim era.
So glad they caught this evil Beast,was too Coward to serve his sentence, pray your resting in peace now Collette,beautiful Angel 🙏🙏🙏

The interview with her Mum broke my heart' i probably be a grandmother now ' that's what these killers take not just the victims life and future but everyone they knows futures
This was one of the very 1st cases I ever remembered on crimewatch uk, such a sad case as well, and that b*****rd who murdered and raped her, hung himself 8 months into his sentence, I hope he's rotting in hell eternally, R.I.P Angel Collette in heaven.....🙏🙏🙏
It was the first reconstruction they did on CW according to the host.
@@TF80s yes, you could be right there, although I always thought the murders of Linda Mann and Dawn Ashworth (R.I.P.P Angels in heaven...🙏🏻🙏🏻) but I need to watch all the crimewatch uk programs, from the very beginning, in chronological order...

hutchinson told his family he was ill with cancer, but this was part of his alibi. that is how far he went to cover his tracks.
I really don't believe that the guy that killed Collette wasn't already a serial killer
My guess is that this case was an escalation. He likely had committed other sex crimes such as indecent exposure, and ramped it up until this happened.
If they had his brother's DNA, why wouldn't that have been noticed? I agree with the detective 100%, he shouldn't have been allowed to ki himself. I'm furious when it happens.
I don't think someone who commits suicide needs permission.

As I understand, the police obtained his brother’s DNA later after Hutchinson was arrested and proposed to blame him - they didn’t have it on file.
As the brother was already dead, and any DNA on file would have shown a link to Hutchinson as you say, it seems likely the brother’s DNA was effectively obtained from a family member such as a son or daughter of his.

They did not have his brother DNA on fille only the hospital had it on their archive file police had to obtain it
Interesting case. A few things not resolved though, did they recover the fiesta? If so, where and when? It was seen in the reconstruction parked for a couple of hours outside some houses - 'was he going for his tea?' Where was this and was it anywhere near Hutchinsons house? Where did he live in Keyworth and how close to his victim? How did, if a local where everyone knows each other, as we are told, did nobody he pestered in the fiesta nor the barmaid recognise him???
Apparently from source of the original crimewatch episode he returned the car nearby where he took it... it's taken till 2010 when his son was stopped for a driving offence to apprehend him. He tried to blame his dead brother but later admitted it because the police had DNA samples from the pub he stopped after he killed that innocent young girl.
Yes, they mentioned how it was a small village, how everyone knew each other and even referred to him as a neighbour at one stage but yet nobody recognised him.
The documentary was very badly written, most of the dialogue was for dramatic effect, the facts didn't match what the narrator or participants were saying half the time.
I also wanted to know what he said to his friends & family after he came back from his so called "cancer treatment" but they didn't even comment on that..is lung cancer something that's even treatable? Awful programme...it was like something from Ch 5.
Why were they judging him on his decision to drink a pint of orange and lemonade.
It was a slightly odd drink for a young man to order in a pub

It's interesting to note that some killers are such control freaks that they are teetotal.
It’s not the type of drink that a male would order in that area and in the 80’s
He had stolen the car and murdered a girl. I doubt keeping his blood alcohol level below the legal limit was that high up on his priorities lol.
I think they were only making the point as they are police. It is a strange drink to drink. So if he drank that same drink all the time. Then this could be a piece of information to help track him down. If ppl could put the orange and lemonade drink together with a person it could get them leads.
No amount of long fringe, or hair curtains on both sides, will ever be able to disguise a huge double chin, only losing a significant amount of weight can do that.

Despite leaving DNA on virtually everything it's a shame it took decades to catch him, whilst the victim was robbed of her life, so good 'old school' detecting was rubbish before DNA which is why so many of these serial rapists and murderers were able to get away with it for so long, And Collette wouldn't have been the only victim in all that time! Justice wasn't successful in this case as the scumbag took his own life to evade it. Enjoying these old CW's, they remind me of how bad the system was...sorry...is!

I think he usually picked her up in in his car but it was off the road. He tried to make contact with Colette via house phone but missed her, he told Jacqui Aram he would ride his bike to meet her along the route she was walking.
@@sarahmartin1409I suppose nobody ever thinks these things will happen to them. It's largely because of what happened in the 80s that we are so conscious of these things now.
I've always hoped the murder of Julie Pacey would be solved by familiar DNA . Sadly after 25 years no apparent leads .
Her killer is probably dead now. The same with Playboy bunny murderer Eve Stratford.
He may have committed suicide but Paul would have met a much higher power and whether you believe it or not he is suffering the punishment of his crime now, and it is much worse than anything he would suffer on earth, this goes on for eternity.

These are great, although don’t watch some of them if your, giving up, or an ex smoker. I’m just nipping out to splash £20 on 10 BnH. It was luck, longshots and hard graft back then.
After all those years the Police got him. Thank goodness for DNA. Very interesting video case . Hutchinson will get his punishment in Hell. Thank you for the video.
Interesting that Hutchinson didn't offend again after that one time. Classic "moment of madness", I suppose.
This show has way too much padding and dragging out of expositions that are obvious or trivial.
And I didn't see how Hutchinson committing suicide was that bad, some kind of cowardly and tricky evasion of justice. Death has traditionally been considered the ultimate price to pay for an offense. The real shame is that it took so long to catch him.
I suppose, playing devil's advocate, the suicide gets to choose the time and means of their death, as opposed to the old 'three clear Sundays' system of hanging.
@@Spectrescup my feelings are why should he get to choose to go? He lived all those years after Collette seemingly carefree… he should have suffered more in prison for longer !!!

Terrible documentary...overly repetitive & badly written. The land lady clearly said she found him odd & suspicious, then we had the so called experts bang on & on about how he went into the pub and acted calm and normal. All the participants came across really cocky & annoying, especially that ex detective guy. I struggled to get through it and all the flashing scene transitions & dramatic music and the sharing of sentences between participants gave me a headache.
Why continue to watch it then ?
I have to say I am struggling with the second part also but I need to know who did this horrible thing.
