People I've asked if they liked Radiohead, said their music is depressing. I don't know why... their music makes me feel absolute bliss in my most depressed of states.
Yesss. I love Radiohead. I remember when I first heard the daily mail by them I loved it. I sent it to my friend and he said “wow that was really depressing” and I was really surprised that never occurred to me haha
I wish I had the vocal range to sing the first part in the lower octave because the “beat goes round and round” octave change is such a fundamentally beautiful aspect of the structure of this song
Exactly me. I can sing it just fine, but only if I’m singing in the same octave throughout the entire song. But then that second part doesn’t have the same impact!
People, it’s only a one octave jump, so you can easily sing it-you just need to find the right key for your voice. If you’re a woman or a man with a higher voice you may need to play it in a higher key; if you’re a man with a lower range, you’ll need a lower key. But I can pretty much guarantee you, if you can sing at all, you can sing this song if it’s in the proper key for you. I doubt there is a person on earth whose voice cannot cover a one octave range.
I come back every now and then, I’ve read some of the comments that were posted here years ago. Whoever you are, and wherever you are now, I hope you’re all doing great. All the love -Guillermo.
for everyone's knowledge: the great Jonny Greenwood is playing brilliant the "ondes martenot" which is very rare and unique instrument, used mostly by the great french composer Olivier Messiaen. Bravissimi!! I'm so looking forward to come to your concert in Milan in June!
A really distinctive, beautiful and underrated AF song. Someday, this song may be remembered as a work of art and would be tried to be interpret by musicians and many others. Fuck those 2 negative reviews of In Rainbows by Dusted Magazine and The Wire. In Rainbows may be by far the most artistically accomplished work by Radiohead.
in 2012, composer Steve Reich took this song and Everything in It's Right Place and composed a piece for an ensemble of classical instruments, check it out, its called Radio Rewrite
Its very reassuring to know that I'm not alone in my music taste. Besides my one other friend who loves this song, its awesome to know that there's over a million other people who appreciate it too. Sometimes the world doesn't suck.
I have a suspicion that they’re going to release one more final 10th album to end it off. They’ve given us 9 albums of great music, they’re not exactly obligated to release any new material, but it would be great. For now it seems to be going good, we will see I guess.
Just as you take my hand Just as you write my number down Just as the drinks arrive Just as they play your favorite song As your bad day disappears No longer wound up like a spring Before you had too much Come back in focus again The walls are bending shape They've got a Cheshire cat grin All blurring into one This place is on a mission Before the night owl Before the animal noises Closed circuit cameras Before you're comatose Before you run away from me Before you're lost between the notes The beat goes round and round The beat goes round and round I never really got there I just pretended that I had Words are blunt instruments Words are sawed-off shotguns Come on and let it out Come on and let it out Come on and let it out Come on and let it out Before you run away from me Before you're lost between the notes Just as you take the mic Just as you dance, dance, dance Jigsaw falling into place So there is nothing to explain You eye each other as you pass She looks back, you look back Not just once Not just twice Wish away the nightmare Wish away the nightmare You've got a light, you can feel it on your back A light, you can feel it on your back Jigsaw falling into place

If I saw Radiohead perform this live, I wouldn't be complaining about the quality. Better than anything I could do - even in my dreams. A fascinating insight into a studio performance. Who cares if it was the final take that made the record?
"Words are blunt instruments, words Ones sawed off shotguns" - One of my favorites songs ever. Definitely on my top 10,if it's even possible,it surely is!
The more i listen the more I realize it's probably a good thing they don't perform this one live. The low octave vocals are probably a big struggle for Thom to do.
I'm from Singapore, I'm a big fan and there's alot of other radiohead fans all around me. To me their music always bring me to another realm, it helps me realize how weightless my troubles and my weary life could be. It will be great if their music could be experienced by more people from this part of the world. Therefore I just hope that they will be able to perform live in Singapore.
Radiohead is perhaps the best "how it started... how it's going" turnaround there ever was. To think that they went from "FAT.UGLY.DEAD" to this is still mind-boggling.
I've just discovered Radihead thank to my father. In fact, he's a really big fan and he made us listening to it in the car, last summer... I'm 16, i've dicscovered an amazing band with an uncredible music and i can say "Thank you Dad"
what a great idea, let make not one music video for each song but two videos per song with us in the recording studio and us goofing off. Radiohead is amazing.

I have the opposite problem lmao. Can sing the lower octave just fine but then have to really strain to go up the octave.

This performance has such a raw and uncut feel. They all look relaxed as if they are welcoming us to their studio via the song.
This song hits a very serious piece of me.
Same here
I know the felling
it makes me want to both cry and dance
Me too But unfortunately Thom can’t sing it very well live then or now
normal singer: I'm gonna use a delay pedal
thom: im ok 3:11
For the effect he’s going for most singers wouldn’t use a delay pedal

You’re epic. Hope you’re doing great.

very kind of you ! take care everyone
2:45 till the end- Yorke gets into "the zone". That, my friends, it's beauty unmatched.
How he has any breath left at 3:18 I have no idea.... amazing
+DG Barclay agreed. He's amazing
God bless the you tubes
Krnflakgrl
Thom was playin the hell out of the guitar....everybody was playing at an EXTREMELY HIGH LEVEL.....I am totally blown away
Beautifully dark, hauntingly melancholic chords paired with Thom’s effortlessly gritty voice. This song is so damn effective. Thanks Radiohead 🫶
God, what I wouldn't do for Radiohead's creative song writing ability. So tight.
the bonesauce I sincerely second that.
@skonkiesskonkies82114 years late but was it?
So you would do anything?
If that’s the case… Take action. Practice. Improve your skills. It’s been 9 years, but hey, you still have time.
He's just in the mode. He is a real artist who has true emotions and is feeling the music.
How you doin
How you been
love Radiohead but wish they made some happy music one of these decades. Thom yorke emotional range is rather narrow in the grand scheme of things
This is the song that made me fall in love with their music.

Me too. And makes me feel like my best moments are gone.... jaja
Check out Mars Volta

Jonny and Thom finally asking Ed to jam with them
this is a haunting song. I keep it on repeat for years now.
I like Thom's voice in this version.

This song....is everything...
This song touches the soul, the Ondes Martenot is ethereal and Radiohead is unmatchable.
2:30 Jonny's puzzled face when Thom says "the weed goes round and round" instead of "the beat goes round and round".
He wanted some
They're a virtually flawless band.
There are few arts and musicis that make me feel I have a soul. When it comes to Radiohead's songs, I just can't run away from that!
Even in 200 years we'll still be looking back at Radiohead and learning things.
The more i listen the more I realize it's probably a good thing they don't perform this one live. The low octave vocals are probably a big struggle for Thom to do.
Always coming back to these sessions
I'm much too glad to be alive to watch this band live! They're among one the greatest, and every one of their songs proves it, just like this one.
And I’ll never get to see them live cuz I discovered em last year…
