      This song certainly could be one of the greatest rock songs of all time, though you must bear in mind that Radiohead borrowed lots from other influences. Radiohead are actually a very humble band who perceive their influences' music to be far more intellectual than their own. They borrow lots from other genres such as classical music, avant-garde jazz, progressive rock etc., all of which use extremely advanced compositional technique. I wouldn't say this is one of the greatest compositions of all time, though definitely one of the greatest of its own time.

    Holy Mother of God, that middle section at 2:07 where what they are playing is practically jazz with Colin Greenwood's bass playing and his brother on the Rhodes piano, to then just explode into a full on distorted onslaught where yorke channels out his punk side, "you don't remember, you don't remember". All the new "post punk revival" and windmill scene could be an artistic peak again, this year we've got BNCR's ants from there, black midi's hellfire, Wu-Lu's Loggerhead, the upcoming Courting Album... There's a lot of great music coming out of britain now and I advice anybody that has interesst in Radiohead to take a listen.

    The most fascinating fact here is that for 99% of the bands to come up with a song like Paranoid Android it means literally a Milestone. It'll be the best accomplishment ever. The peak of a musical career 'Impossible' not to descend artistically after a composition like this. While for Radiohead was just another good song. That's why for me they shouldn't get typecast as the Pink Floyd of our time. For me, they're more alike The Beatles. Where The catalogue of albums and songs is so good, varied and evolutive that you just cannot pick a favorite song among all them. Not easily (an album either)
    They've defined a favorite different album for at least 3 different generation most cases. Therefore If you want to talk about their best songs. When their best music was done. You need to name an album to start with to come up with a conclusion. And if that weren't enough. In paralell we have Thom Yorke making The Eraser, Anima and Suspiria OST which is like...ok..yeap...
    Radiohead is just too hard to compliment to. So I'll just play a song and chill whilst clic here and send this block of thoughts to you.

      Well that's why they get compared to pink floyd. Pink floyd are equally as amazing in that they made the dark side of the moon and then went on to make wywh, abitw and animals all of which are arguably even better which no1 thought was possible after the dark side of the moon.

      @@shortyrags I don't know, pink floyd had a really creative spell with 5 separate albums from 1972-1979. Animals is a masterpiece.

    • @shortyrags
      @shortyrags 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      @@dylanwesley3964 Agreed 100%. But I didn't say the 5 album run wasn't creative. It most certainly was. I just don't think the albums themselves differed that much stylistically in terms of tones, timbres and orchestration. Of course each album has its own identity, but the Pink Floyd sound is kind of characterized by that run of albums. If someone asked me to name the Beatles sound or the Radiohead sound, I feel it'd be a little tougher to pinpoint it.
