I like that these audio logs reveal that at least, whether the people that made Saints Row 3 and 4 were mostly new or the same, they know exactly how the story went from the very first game. Usually games like this are made by different developers who don't understand the actual writing and ethos of the games that preceeded it.
Julius: I knew early on what it was I let loose on Stilwater. The playa was reckless and uncaring. Left a wake of bodies pointing right back at us. Think more of the city was destroyed than saved in the end. Sure the Saints were taking over, but at what cost? I couldn't risk letting a sociopath run things, so I did what I had to do. Never thought the bastard would survive the explosion.
Ben: I always knew the Saints were ambitious, but I never thought I'd see them end up in the White House. And when the playa called me saying how they couldn't do it without me, how could I say no. Thought maybe I was in line for Vice President, but I guess Keith beat me to it. Still, being the President's Chief of Staff certainly had its perks. Not bad for a kid from Sunnyvale Gardens.
Johnny: Aisha's death... hit me really hard. I thought I'd made peace with it, but Zinyak's fucking simulated hell took its toll. I know the whole point was I'd never be able to save her, but that shit would never stop me from trying. If the boss didn't show up to help, I don't know how much longer I could've kept it together.
Asha: From an early age, my father instilled a pride and patriotism in me that carried me far in life. I dedicated myself to serving the Crown. I don't regret it, though it's not been without its challenges. One of those challenges was working with the Saints in taking down Osama bin Laden.
Kinzie: Oleg is one of the best things that ever happened to me and right now it feels like the worst. I'm up here trying to save us from captivity and psychological torture and all I can think about is him. He's the only one who ever truly understood what I was saying. I never thought I'd meet someone with an intelligence nearly matching my own who made me feel like I wasn't constantly missing something in my life. Now, I am. Now, I miss him...
Lin: Donnie said I was his girl? Can you believe that? I mean, we were pretty close, but that never came up. We talked about engines, weight distribution, suspensions... But his girl? I never expected that. It was a nice surprise.
6:02 Too bad we will never know who the fuck this is. If they ever did a Vice King prequel game.....THAT would've been a good plot point but Hey Reboot, nerds and Santo Ileso.......
Saint's fans has the mission to do the same thing that Devil May Cry fans did. They brough the old series back. And if we ever get a prequel with the VK's, let's hope that the main character is Tony Green, since he's the VK's version of the Boss or Gat (an unstoppable bad ass)
I mean, they did that with the whole series, by design. If people want gritty, psychopath violence, play GTA. If you want over the top, hilarious mobsters and action scenes, play Saints' Row. All they did was stop trying to make a clone to become something original and everybody completely trashed them for it. It's not like the Boss has any hesitation about outright murder in 3 and 4 anyway.
@@King_Yef no it wasn’t always overly ridiculous. The previous saints row games had funny side missions, dressing up in costumes and killing people but the characters had their seriousness. I mean your character is a joke. They even all acknowledge they’re ridiculous. It’s like going from Teen titans to teen titans go. There’s millions of modern open world crime games, GTA doesn’t own it anyway. If anybody thinks SR1 and 2 are copies of GTA they gotta get their brain checked.
@@ZachofPotatoes732 I mean, you do realize that the only negative reviews SR1 and 2 received were due to their perceived "lack of originality", right? That's pulled straight off the Wikipedia article for them. Say whatever you want about 3 and 4, but they never had that problem. You give up getting to roleplay as literally just some normal gangster for the opportunity to getting to roleplay as a gangster who moonlights as basically a demigod of violence, kind of a linear upgrade imo. Just because he actually cares about the people in the Saints doesn't make the character a joke.
@@King_Yef but hes not a gangster. He’s a dork, they all are. It’s a game about a gang lol It’s like they market it for kids but there’s cussing. I don’t get it
@@King_Yef and they realized they strayed too far which is the reason for the reboot. Back to what it’s about but kept the humor that killed the seriousness. It’s a step
Shaundi (Stilwater): I shoulda known dating that asshole was gonna end badly. Veteran Child, what kind of a name is that anyway? Sure, he had hook ups for some of the best drugs in Stilwater, but that's no excuse. And he comes and tries to kill me? Whatever. He didn't have a chance against the boss. I tried to warn him, but he never listened to me. Only the boss really did.
Shaundi (Steelport): Ever since that night on Loren's plane things haven't been the same. I used to be fun and carefree. I used to smile and laugh. Now, I just want everyone to pay for what the Syndicate did. Johnny didn't deserve to die like that. He was the toughest person I knew. And it's my fault. I should've gone back for him.
Pierce: The boss was a lot more hardcore back in the day. Managed to pull the Saints back from the grave. Didn't take any shit from anyone. Especially the Brotherhood, the Ronin or the Sons of Samedi. Hell, anyone that got in the way lost everything they had, not just their life. Still, it's too bad what happened to Carlos though. He was a good kid.
DJVC: I knew where Shaundi was, so that part was easy. She was alone, so again, easy. But that damn boss of the Saints fucked everything up. Things were so much better when the Saints were just a Stilwater memory, but they couldn't stay dead, could they. Never thought they'd come after Shaundi in my own club. That bitch made me lose everything.
Maero: I thought I had that Saint dead to rights. I mean, they couldn't kill me in my own home. What chance did they have to survive my trap? I had the perfect setup, even used the truck that killed Jessica for a little poetic justice. But it didn't matter. I lost. Fucking Saints...
Sharp: Donnie let himself get too close. He was Joseph's friend, but he valued his relationship with Lin too much to see what was right in front of his face. Lin brought everything down and Donnie let it happen. If he wasn't so close to my nephew, I would have put him in that trunk with her.
Viola: Fucking Murderbrawl tickets. That's what Killbane thought would make me feel better after he murdered Kiki. He took the Syndicate from us, then he took my sister! I vowed to get revenge no matter what I had to do, and no matter who I had to ask for help.
Matt: Working for the Syndicate was a great job. That is until Phillipe Loren died, because Killbane was one scary psychopath. I mean, I watched him kill Kiki right in front of me, and right in front of her own sister! So I went after the Saints instead. Wrong choice on my part. But they let me live, and surprisingly so did Killbane. Only option then was to leave the country and hide.
Maero sounded so similar and i had to look up his voice actor. Turns out he voiced Frank Horrigan and Marcus from fallout 2 as well!
