De Gea works for us. United defense are shambolic at best, abysmal at worse. The teamwork, rigidity, is not there yet and however the manager wants to play, it wouldn't change this fact overnight. For us expecting Onana to overtake this position, to play from the back and at the same time picking up the slack David all this time has been picking, is a VERY huge ask.
De Gea works because he is one of the best shot stopper and fastest reflexes. Ever since Fergie left, he has been correcting defensive mistakes left and right. He made mistakes, sure, but that is bound to happen when the defense is unreliable and the need to worry about contract nearly every single season.
Really ashamed of how we treat David De Gea. But, that is a theme with this United management.
