For a keeper who likes to come out to play the ball, he never comes of his line on a one on one.
was going to say that. He is awful on one on ones, even a kid who has played for a while knows you have to come out, narrow the angles, attack the ball if possible. Just mind blowing an elite level keeper stays on his line, and waits for the attacker to slot an easy finish either side.
His feet are glued, his reaction and reflexes are a second slow all the time, positioning is questionable , does not parry the ball away cleanly, he never looks like he can grab the ball cleanly , always fumbles a bit. I dont think this is a confidence issue, we are spoilt by the stop stopping done by De gea and now in that regards this is clearly a level below. He is better with the ball at his feet and better handling during corners, but his mistakes are much more costlier as compared to the benefits we are getting when compared to De gea and where he fell short.

Nice to know de gea single handily kept united relevant after SAF. There’s literally no difference in the defense United always concede 3-6 chances a game but they don’t have de gea to make insane saves anymore
You lack information. Onana has faced an average 6 shots per game with 3.5 from the box while Degea faced 3.6 shots per game with 2.5 from the box.
Degea had a total of 101 saves in 38 games last season. Onana already has 72 saves in 20 games.

i was surprised given all the flak onanas been getting but from these highlights i counted something like 4 obvious errors, a bunch of penalties, and even more goals where he was completely isolated and/or had no chance
sure those are a lot of goals and 4 mistakes is not great, but if the defence is so porous im sure it puts a lot of pressure on onana which makes mistakes all the more likely

you're joking if think there's only 4 mistakes, stuff like getting casemiro sent off is a huge mistake, just because it didn't result in a goal doesn't take it away from being a mistake
I agree that not all these goals were his fault, but there were goals that any decent goalkeeper would have kept out. There were moments when he dived too early, or when he didn't put a strong hand on the ball, so it went in. His positioning was also poor for some of them, either due to poor reaction time or being to slow to close down the ball. He is also dreadful in 1 on 1 situation, because he doesn't close down the attacker and make himself big in front of the ball (like any decent keeper would). Plus don't get me started with him single-handedly being responsible for us crashing out of the UCL this season. Onana has become the maguire of goalkeepers. When he doesn't make any mistakes, he is considered to have had a good game.
No way in hell is there only 4 mistakes, you have definitely never played in net. His positioning made half of them far more difficult than they should have been, a better keeper would have been positioned better. At least half of these goals were very much saveable by a top class keeper.

It doesnt really matter which personels are playing, we had licha, varane, shaw, casemiro, and mount in first 5 games this season and our midfield and defense ALWAYS got bypassed easily by opposition players. The tactic was just svtpid

His footing and positioning is so awful is laughable. He RARELY closes in to narrow the shooting angle, and I am not talking about 1-1 situations, I am talking about when someone is aobut to shoot, you have to move forward and away from the goal line few meters to make yourself easier to parry or block the ball. He does not.
I agree that is footwork and positioning is not good, but shouldn't he just say on his line when someone is about to shoot? Wouldn't that give you a longer reaction time
@@randomystic8602 depends on the situation but not always. You gotta think about the shooting angle. Further away from the ball you are, the angle widens and your body can't reach the ball more. This is why goalkeepers almost always dives 20 degrees forward instead of straight left or right, especially in a penalty situation. It is easier to save a ball in tighter angle than wide angle
