i have one of this robots and my cat had the exact same reaction (not interacting at all with his favorite toys when attached to the robot).
I never understood why until one day when a kitten video was playing on my phone and for some reason the kitten was meowing, my cat got visually worried trying to figure out where were the kitten in trouble, after a couple of seconds he went to his toys basket and with some difficulty got the robot out sniffing it and paying a lot of attention to it.
Apparently he think that the robots is alive (since it moves) and when there is a toy attached to it he is probably thinking 'he is playing with it, I will wait for my turn'.

Really depends on the cat. I got one for my girlfriend and her cat loves it so much, she actually drags it off of the charger and will go and hide it in her toy stash.

Yeah, cats and dogs love laser pointers. Especially the smaller breeds with a lot of energy.
You have to be careful because they're not particularly good for the animals mental health as they're never actually able to `catch` it which borks their hunter instinct

actually no, especially with families most of the time they buy a cat because the kids want one, and once the kids are bored of her in a month, it's just forgotten, gets one or two pets in a while and exists as furniture.... Also older cats (>5 years old) tend to not like playing that much in general

@@Askaly with the QR Code, they would be able to connect to his home WiFi network and have access to every single device connected to it, like his printer, computers, and whatever else. Ideally, the devices are secure enough to not let someone steal important information, but who knows. Also, they wouldn't need to even be close to his house because in a previous video he installed that long-range WiFi access point thing that let him connect even way down the road from his house. They wouldn't even notice a suspicious car parked outside because it would be a few houses away.

@1:27 your daughter is sitting in what we call "W-sit", that may be a cause for problems further down the road (depending on the conditions of why she chose to sit like that in that particular moment. i.e.: if she was tired or if thats her go-to sitting position). you can consult a physiotherapist thats specialized in children so they could do a basic assessment or if you cant find one maybe an orthopedic (medical doctor) could do it but im not sure.
the reason its a problem is because it shifts weight from muscles to joints and it can lead to disproportionate weakness in some areas compared to others. in conjuction to shortening the length in some muscles due to the position, it could lead to problems.
NOT ALWAYS THE CASE, but worth checking out.

I got one to check on my dogs while I’m at work as they can get into trouble while I’m away for a while on long nights.
It mostly makes one of my 3 dogs pissed off and barks at it, but it’s actually pretty useful to mob around the house and check on things as well as yelling at my herd to chill out.
I will say, it can sort of easily get stuck on small bumps on the flooring like where my kitchen and living room separate and earlier it got stuck on a chair leg.
If you want this as a “toy” for your animal: don’t. It’s more for checking things out imo.

The thing I don’t like about it is it tips over and becomes inoperative. I prefer the Skymee owl Robot. The downside of the owl is that it doesn’t self charge.
We were gifted an automated fetch thing for the dog once but had the same issue. Dog didn't care about it. The main part of the fun of the game for the dog seemed to be playing with a person.

I remember soldering together a kit from Mr. Lee CatCam like a dozen years ago, and it worked but was very rudimentary and only took pics on a timer. Subsequent searches later on didn't reveal much on the market. But with wireless tech, battery tech, and storage capacity having coming leaps and bounds since then, I bet you guys could find or make a cat cam with amazing specs. And people would LOVE to watch that.

You see the problem is you actually love your cat. The strategy is to starve it of any kind of affection or attention so much so that it’ll start playing with a robot.

I know most comments will be normal, but all I can think about is how Linus a successful small business owner with a lot more money than poor Americans is playing with advanced toys with his daughter on camera, and yet the dark reality is he works constantly despite being able to retire with the full knowledge that his business will mostly be fine moving forward even after he does; he doesn't. I think about the entire video saying he might retire. And how I really have wanted him to retire ever since for the sake of his family. You see wholesome family moment watching this I see all the moments that aren't and haven't happened because Linus has been working so much for so very long. Being among those who could retire young and spend time with his family he opts to keep going, and I can't understand this. Take care Linus whatever you decide.

My family and I have three Sphero Star Wars droids (one each - BB8 for me, BB9E for Mum, and R2 for Dad), and we use them like I guess this is intended for? Anyway, one is terrified of it (when using one of the wrist bands for control because it goes more aggressively), and the other enjoys playing soccer with them. So cats do seem to enjoy robots occasionally!
