Oh that's a great suggestion with the pliers, thank you. Doing my best to handle them as gently as I can. I know I'm not perfect, but striving to do better so I appreciate the encouragement. Tight lines.
@@BenjieKimFishing nobody is perfect but when you able to get on the water and catch. Everything is perfect. Only suggested the pliers because that water gets cold and easier. Be safe and maybe see you out there one day having a great time catching 👍
Wow! Those were some strong little trout, that looks super fun and I bet the heater in the car felt good on the ride home and hey, what happened to your lip? Oh no, after seeing what happened that day with your hand, we hope that is not what happened to your lip! Great footage, thanks for sharing. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! and tight lines. Danny and Kim in San Diego, CA
Hi Danny and Kim, thank you so much for comment and positive vibes! haha as for my lip, I was getting over a cold at the time of filming so they are canker sores lol. Pretty embarrassing but the show must go on haha! Merry Christmas and happy holidays!!
Oh man, that's actually on my list, just waiting for the next stop. Hoping to take my Scout Inflatable with trolling motor on there (assuming that's legal).
Benjie, Great video bud ! I've fishing trout in Cali for over 40yrs superdupers, Thomas bouyton and kastmaster are just great trout lures try them they rock !
Hi John, thank you for the amazing tips based on years of experience! I'm 45 so my first time trout fishing was about 40 years ago as well. Problem is I stopped doing it for about 20 years in between haha. TB's, kastmasters, and super dupers were great then and they are certainly excellent options today. Super dupers were my favorite when I was a kid!
Thanks Joey, definitely trying my best to handle the release better thanks to tips from guys like yourself. Yes brotha, would love to see and fish with you again. I'm knocked out with covid right now and I'll be on vacation to end the year so hopefully in January. I'll definitely be out and about at the local ponds so stay in touch!
Aww im sorry to hear that you got covid, it sucks and for me it was painful as hell, but you'll get thru it. Let me know if you need or want anything bro, anything at all please dont be afraid to ask ok
Thanks for showing us your tackle in detail! Too many FishTubers fail to do that... even when they're trying to teach you how to fish 😑 Now get yourself some hot chocolate to warm up!
Thanks so much Jake!! Haha yea man, it was cold for sure! It's a lot easier for me to share tips from surf fishing because its what I've spent more time doing, but I'm looking forward to hopefully sharing helpful tips for those wanting to learn the trout game too!
What's up man! This was great. 30 degrees and no gloves? You're a tougher man than me for sure. Do you have a clip or anything so you can quickly change spoons and jigs or are you trying to tie each one on with freezing hands? If you use a clip, what kind? I could use something like that when I'm float tubing in Mammoth when it's in the 30's. Hope you and your family are doing well. I'll try to catch more of these videos. Miss our time in the Elmo bullpen! :-)
Hey Bobby! Dang, so good to hear from you, I hope you're well! I do use a clip for swapping out spoons, I believe it's from Spro and it's size 0...so super small! Def very convenient...almost a necessity for swapping stuff out quickly.
@@BenjieKimFishing Awesome. Thanks! We'll have to try meeting up for some trout fishing soon. Are you still living in OC? I love the enthusiasm and fun faces in your videos. Cracks me up! Keep up the great work.
No need for a swivel...or at least I don't use them and it seems to be just fine. I may try using a clip some time soon but the only reason would be for swapping out colors faster.
@@BenjieKimFishing thanks bro I appreciate the info I bought some little spoons and I have not tried them because I wasn’t sure if you need a swivel but now I’m going to get them wet this weekend hopefully at tricity regional park !
Have you tried the dragonfly mod action? Do you prefer the fast over the mod? How does the dragonfly compare to the mirage? I’m looking for a dedicated spoon rod and I already have a mirage 771 for minijigs. Thanks!
Hey brotha, thanks for the awesome question. I'll be honest, I've only held the mirage in my hand once and I've never thrown the moderate Dragonfly so I can't give you a good assessment. The fast dragonfly that I'm throwing now is good for both jigs and spoons but I'm curious too on what is optimal for each and I'm planning on expanding my trout rod arsenal in the coming months/year. This is just a guess but I'm thinking the fast action dragonfly would be better for spoons than the mod as you'll have more action and sensitivity at the tip. The rod itself is a bit noodly as expected but it shuts off well after the set.
Fast action with spoons, so you know it’s swimming well. We are going to Wohlford on Sat. I haven’t wet a line since September….😐. Tight lines! You killed it BK.
Dang what a day!
Trout were small and it was FREEZING but super cool experience Josh!!
@@BenjieKimFishing sometimes the days you’re freezing but the fish are just biting are the best!
Appreciate the Socal trout content 👍
Holy Cold Sore! Great video! We’ll never share drinks!
lol! One of the best comments I've received hahaha. Tight lines!
Nice fishing congrats.
Thanks for another great vid! Happy Holidays!
Great video. Yes, the spoon bite has been great at the wood. Just get some pliers so don't even have to touch the fish. Great catch and release bro

Thank you so much Doug, wishing you a very Merry Christmas to you and yours as well!
Nice video. Love that lake! Hope to fish with you one day.
Thanks brotha, always appreciate the encouragement! Maybe one day we can make it happen!

You killed it BK.
How do you cast so far with such a light lure??
I use a 1k reel paired with an ultralight rod and 5 lb braid. The braid makes a huge difference.
@@BenjieKimFishing I’ve heard braid is the way to go with spinning reels but I’m not great at tying knots for leader lines. Thank you!
You'll get there with practice. Just gotta make the investment in time. Tight lines!
What size spoon do you use?
2.8 grams at smaller ponds or when they're close. 7 grams at larger lakes.
What time did you start?
What’s the name for those spoons? Merry Christmas btw
they're jdm spoons miu. Pricey but I like them. Merry Christmas!
