People fly fishing the north part of the east lake (east of the dam and just east of the rental shop) were catching a good amount of rainbows, as was another guy with a C-rig with PowerBait on the bottom, but almost everyone else was struggling big time 😳 Next time I'll try the west lake.

I have planned to take my son trout fishing,. However, Covid and holiday plans have delayed our fishing plans. Mid to late January I have to take him. Maybe SARL? I have never fished Fin.... I am open to fishing somewhere new. My favorite way to catch trout is on the spoon. The bite was fire! Surprised me that they were biting that quickly after the drop. Tight lines!
Hey Jason, wishing you and your wife rest quick recovery brother. SARL obviously loads up with huge fish but from what I've heard it can be a pretty tough bite...and it's expensive. Still an option though for sure. OC county stocks are super fun (and cheap...just pay parking) and fish quality is not the best but they still get some good fish too. Just got to keep an eye on stocking schedule....in my opinion you should fish a lake that's been planted within the first 2 to 3 days.

In terms of which day, nobody knows but from what I've seen it looks like they do it closer to the end of the week. So I'd start checking on Wednesday of each week for specific ponds. Hope that helps.

hahaha you know I've always heard that too and I'm thinking maybe that applies better to bigger lakes? I don't know. I've had plenty of days where the bite is super finicky on stock day too so I think it just depends.
I was surprised that they bit right away. Usually the fish are sedated. The delivery guy said they came 900 miles. It must have worn off because they were biting like mad! Great video.

I hate to say it but I can't stand farm raised golden trout. They look so much different than wild. Like way more drastic than any other trout species. I really wanna fly fish a wild golden trout. That would be a real accomplishment. The dream fish for me

Yea they vary which pond they stock, I'm not sure the rhyme or reason. The small pond is fun though when they do plant in there haha.
