John Scofield - yasssss! And Tal is so very versatile. Her heart is in jazz, and she's a hard rocker. Saw her many times now, most recently in December backing the Allman-Betts Family Revival and she really held the engine room together. This is a great performance - thanks for posting.
amazing drums work. Scofield goes hippy which I love and then the sexiest musician alive the one and only Tal Wilkenfield, bass from heaven. What a band!!
I saw them at the Newport Jazz Fest. They were really good, but the experience was lessened by the number of rude people holding their cell phones up to take photos and videos consciously disregarding the fact that others are actually there to hear the music and see the band.
Too much virtuosity, not feeling a smooth groove, although Tal was keeping it going with what seem a struggling drummer. She had to take rest since the drummer was not locking in to her lines. God bless all.
Ted plays the least amount of groove gigs, yet he’s by the best player up here. Seriously. This about as straight ya ever hear him play. Well there’s also Larry and john up here as well, ask them.
It's not the drummer, it's Tal lagging behind..She is among my favorite but she was not used to such perfection & a little to much for her on this night.
Also to mention still warm and some of electric outlet. Those albums and songs were higher than the Everest. There is also other music being nice, like this song is. These musicians are great and enjoyable. Greetings
they are trying to make her bigger then she is i am a listner and i like the bass i am not going to listen to this in my car i never heard her play funk
you are a fan ..iam a fan of victor wooten .Marcus Stanley and a saw them live with their own band . multiple times I know what I am talking when I talking a bout bass pioneers
Since Tal developed finger strength she has become great. Back when she was little (with Jeff Beck) she couldn't really grip the strings and all her notes rattled.
@@greenlightwilly He was right to pick her because of her technique, and his determination to give players a chance. But listen to her back then and compare to her recent work. Back then was a lot of fret rattle, now her sound is perfectly clean. Finger strength is the difference.
@donepearce finger strength is a factor for a little kid learning to play, not for the seasoned Tal. She was no beginner with Beck. Fret buzz has more to do with action set up, how straight your guitar is, and what your pickups are sending to the amp
@@axetu just no. I am both a player and a luthier and I can recognisecfret buzz when i hear it. Sadowitz sponsored her bass and would never have given it to her in an unplayable condition. As a last resort Jeff's tech would have sorted it out before she stepped on stage.
Although I don't feel this song, Tal is the only one whom I felt could swing with the frantic timing given her. Please, Shut me up by posting a video to this same track with your own bass parts. I dare you.....
John Scofield has never been a great musician in my opinion !.. Of course, technically he is a good guitarist player, but his music doesn't touch me at all !..
Was good enough for Gary Burton, BIlly Cobham, Miles Davis, Bill Frisell, Pat Metheny, Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Steve Swallow, Dave Holland and Jack DeJohnette, let alone creating an immense ever evolving body of compositions and improvisations for over 40 years, so you'll forgive us if we blow off your specious self important exercise in trolling.
@@vernhillbass905 Where did someone state he would be a better musician? Also it is absolutely relevant if one likes music or not. That is what it is all about. It only matters if music touches you in some way. If it does not, it is not "good" music for you. That leaves someone else open to love it! Enjoy the performance, when you do. But everybody has the same right to find that performance boring, non-touching or whatever! And technical great musicians do not always make the music which touches you most, btw.

No matter how great the guitar player might be, if Tal is on bass, thats who i`m watching and amazed by the most.
Good grief, so much talent on hand here. That princess with the bass is dangerously creative, unpredictable on so many of those lines!
WTF ---so cool! : )

So cool! This is a super-group, w/ Sco, Tal, Larry, and Ted?! Amazing!!
Tal goes fro playing with one legend (Jeff Beck) to another. She's a beast
Love Tal!

can she play funk
Can’t decide if I like this band better with Mono or Tal. Both so good!
Wow great players
Great! Going to see John with his trio Thursday night!
Go Tal🎸👏👍

Tasty drum solo!
Nice, nice moves Tal 😘

Jack is always so animated.
Came here for Tal. Stayed for Tal. Her name means "morning dew" in hebrew, BTW.
It's like those dudes on the left were conspiring together but Tal was with them and sometimes ahead. The best of her generationl!
It’s Jack Conte, not Jack Cohen. I love Scofield and Scary pockets, nice jam
oh is it I will check and fix typo if so thanks
Is that a Hammond G4? Loved it! Tal is in her element on funk bass.
ted poor? More like Ted Excellent
Wilkenfeld the best. A niece with her grandfather!
dude from Pomplemoose gets around
Is that Mitch Mitchell reincarnated on drums?
"Jack Cohen" 🤣🤣🤣🤣

2 guitars and a Hammond?! Come on. Overkill w the chordal instruments.
That is a huge step down from Blue Matter, Loud Jazz, Pick hits. This is so forgettable that it is memorable LOL

Maybe she liked that Sad with buzz. I've got a Pbass thats set so low it buzzes. I've had it that way for years cause I like it.
Nice but too bass heavy in the mix. Tal is great.
I hate this woman’s playing. Stanley Clarke she ain’t. Why does she keep popping up on my feed?

Sorry, but i think this is a poor performance....
The only thing worse than the little fat girl on bass is the video itself.
