I did all of these legendary three hours a few years ago, and what's really funny is that Halo CE and Halo 2 are the only ones where speedrunning/glitch strategies are 100% necessary, wheras all the other games only require two decent co-op players to play on Legendary.
Can you just play the levels on legendary and the as long as the par times all add up to be under 3 hours you get the achievement?
@@lazarusrivera6373 Yes, but the point I'm making is that I felt in Halo:CE and 2 specifically, some of the levels or sections are so hard that the best strategy is the ones they use in speedruns. Things like getting out of the map, or difficult jumping sections to skip big sections of levels.
In the other games though, I felt if you just played the game normally while on Legendary co-op, as long as the two players are decent and have played before it should be easy, or at least I felt it was.
Basically, if you play Legendary co-op on Reach, 3, ODST and 4 you might just accidentally get those achievements without thinking about it, while CE and 2 require you to do some research.
My brother is really bad at co-op, so I'm doing it solo. It is really hard. These kinda guides are helping though
My brother and I did this fairly recently. We saved gravemind for last and had nearly an hour to spare for just that mission. It ended up taking us 40 minutes to get through.
wait can you tell me if you have to do the missions front to back or do each mission on legendary whenever you want and when its under 3 hours combined you get the achievment?
@@noe2212 its a bit late, but you can do the missions in any order it combines all of your best times.
as soon as i've heard that they needed to beat halo 2 on legendary under 3 hours... every fibre of my being immediately sent a shiver out of pure fear.

Having completed this achievement, i commend you both. This achievement almost broke me mentally and i consider anyone who completes it a halo hero!
I started doing it last year, started doing other things and now I'm back to doing it. I'm feeling super determined :p
How long did it take to do successfully
@@calebtimmons4458 probably about a week and a half of solid trying. Some missions were just a torture to complete.

@@calebtimmons4458 I can’t give you specific hours but it’s like this, (if solo) you wake up, play halo the entire day no break until you literally can’t stay awake any longer, then sleep. Repeat.

Shoutouts to Mr. Monopoli, the famous Halo 2 speedrunner who this achievement is named after. He's put so much work over the past decade into pushing the limits of the game (and its engine) and pushing the World Record to almost unbelievable times.
Damn I haven’t heard someone else in the Halo community mention Naked Eli in years. For this achievement you just need to have all of your fastest time add up to 3 hours? That makes my life so much easier. I thought you had to run through the whole thing back to back.
Yeah it's just the sum of your best times. As long as that sum is under 3 hours, you're golden. You can even split it between co-op and solo. Just whatever your fastest time is on each level is what contributes to the achievement.
The most fun I’ve ever had gaming was completing this achievement.

Make sure to check out rocats' casual John Wick% runs when you go to do par score. He's devised the fastest way he can find to beat the missions while killing every single enemy. This should be considered the start of skull%, though. That could be a really interesting category with a lot of cheese skips and glitches

After doing all of the speedrun achievements from the trilogy, halo 2 has both the hardest and the easiest levels in the series. Regret, and gravemind are awful, but it has so many levels like outskirts, quarantine zone, and uprising that are a breeze.

I did Gravemind very last which was fantastic. I had 40+ minutes saved, so I just breezed my way through it without any worries.

Three hours?! Hell no! My personal record on legendary is 4 and a half, and that was when I was actually good at playing Halo! X'D
28:00 the low gravity is left over from when you were cutting the cables ( normally when you cut them and it starts dropping, if you jump you get launched so far up that you die)
I really recommend trying this. I was intimidated at first but I did this easily in a couple of days. Use halo compeletionists guides and you will be cruising through this. I am Not a very good halo player either. I encourage you all to try this.
here's a glitch when you try to kill the prophet: hit the prophets chair with an energy sword then hop on his chair an dont punch him you can scare him to death and its much faster and easier
Get it on Steam and cheat your way through each mission with EAC disabled, save and quit just before the end, swap to the EAC enabled version of the game and finish it. Rinse and repeat, job done. Don't work hard, work smart

oh yeah, gravemind is a really fun level. But its also very difficult and is probably by far the hardest level to get a GOOD time on in the whole halo franchise.

It's been a year.
I managed to finish Halo 2 on Legendary on Steam. And I proudly use that Achivement badge on my profile with a lot of pride.
My proudest achievement is beating halo 2 on legendary
I have been running these with a friend from Australia, mind you, I'm from the east coast of the US, we have about a half a second of lag for whoever isn't hosting, we just finished Monopolised today, and have already beat the halo 4, odst, and reach LASOs and every other 3 hour legendary achievements. Moral of the story... if some laggy bois can do this stuff, so can everyone else. Goof luck to anyone attempting, if anyone ever wants the times I got, I could always post it here, but I ended the achievement with 2:56:19/3:00:00.

I did mine solo back in 2019, doing it coop is not really a challenge. Also did 3 of my Laso's solo. Not for everyone to do it solo but you definitely feel more accomplished.

I've been crying being challenged to stay patient for the last 5 damn months just to wait on November 15th for Halo Infinite to come out for Xbox One. My heart sank into the fricking abyss of disappointment waiting for Halo for this long. I can't even sleep knowing that I need to see every single update to see if the release date changes again, and again it's killing me. I'm planning to take November 15th off from work just to be able to get it.

for the beginning of regret we just took out the left snipers, get a checkpoint, take out the 2 on the right, and then right outside the main building you can nade jump straight to the gondola and it was pretty easy

Halo 2 each enemy has a pattern to the way they shoot so if you're decent you don't even have to fight anyone. Grunts if you're facing them head on 2 right 1 left, just walk between the gap.

I've gotten all the legendary speedrun achievements for each game (before reach, need to finish that) and this one was by far the hardest. The regret boss specifically was hell. Probably the achievement I'm proudest of in any game.
On my solo play through for the achievement I was dreading the boss fight in regret. Ended up getting it first try and I knew that I dodged a bullet. Thank you for confirming it sucks!
For anyone wanting to recreate the prison skip with the brute shot: active boom, sputnik and feather, while you fall in the elevator you want to align your arm and leg so that you can only see your arm and after the loading done message just spam your brute shot.
I don't understand how this is even possible. I only just beat Halo 2 legendary with my buddy for the first time. IT TOOK 11 HOURS. We're both well seasoned halo players, but Halo 2 is just insanely hard

when I ran regret I used sputnik to launch myself from the door to regret to hijack him in one motion

Gravemind still gives me nightmares. I spent an entire day in the summer just to get it down 27 minutes, and that was the absolute fastest. Let's not even talk about the mission Regret. I commend you guys for doing this achievement since it can be hell at parts. I originally did my run in Co-Op with a friend but he kept getting sniped by a Jackal in the city streets and rage quit, so I had to finish it alone.
