Yesterday I tried dipping my toes into this whole LASO thing by starting up the first mission on legendary with all skulls on. On an unrelated note, I think I'm content with not getting all the achievements in some space alien shooting game.
I've never done ce laso (and having heard how hard it is, I may never try) but if you just want to do a halo game laso then I can recommend reach. It took me around a week, a fair bit of cheese and a bunch of brute force to compensate for my lack of skill but I did do it.
@@tatotaytoman5934 Keyes should be one of the easiest in CE if you learn how to flood bump through the wall at the start. I'd recommend it for anyone attempting to do LASO or trying to sub 3 hours on Legendary
If you want the fun of the skulls but don't have the skills for a LASO, I've found EASO quite enjoyable - it forces you to use some interesting tactics and strategies without the frustration of dying for hours on end.
Ya I was thinking that too. Backpack reload is when you press reload twice quickly then switch weapons. The gun that you initiated the reload on will now be reloading in your backpack and ready to go when you switch back to it after a few seconds. Only works on CE as far as I know. Useful tip for speed running or just playing CE in general as it eliminates your vulnerability of not being able to shoot while reloading.
Halo Completionist is definitely a great person to learn some LASO strats from, back when me and my friend were in progress of getting LASO master we'd watch his guide videos before every single level, helped out a ton.
I can get a lower score than that lol. but seriously, LASO is the ultimate thing that can break a halo player. The blood, sweat, and tears that can be expulsed when finishing a level is enough to help an entire blood drive. Thank the heavens that Halo Completionist made SOLO LASO tutorials.
I have some great memories playing Reach LASO with my friend! We tried CE but it was too frustrating, I generally think CE has aged like wine, but when you push it past it's intended limits in LASO, it really shows how archaic it actually is.
For anyone curious, the thing they talked about at the end of Truth and Reconciliation that triggers the end cutscene early was them confusing two separate exploits. The grenade jump they did in the hangar is why the mission ended without them having to go to the hangar, and the thing about killing the marines is that if you kill the marines enough to make them hostile before you go into the bridge and kill the invisible elites, it skips all the dialogue that takes place at that point. Really only useful for speedrunners tbh.
For anyone out there looking to do runs like this: backpack reloading is way easier than they explained. You can just hit reload twice then y. You don’t need the third weapon
I feel like a lot of things are actually much easier than they make it seem. Anytime they comment on some achievement saying how much trouble they had with it and how it’s impossible, I’m sitting here like… it’s really not that hard

Watching you two struggle with that grenade jump on the Hangar in TnR reminds me of me trying to figure it out. I think the way it's intended by speedrunners and LASO runners is that you plan it out in front of the OS. You throw one at the second floor bottom so it'll bounce back and land where you're trying to jump, then toss one where you want to jump, then grab the OS and jump in time with the grenade blast. If you can get a third nade in there, then you could probably get the the third floor. And yes, Keyes...for some reason, will follow just one player. Not sure why, but he does.
@@theneoreformationist it's better to do the jump in front of the OS because for some reason in Halo CE, when your overshield is charging, you don't take any damage, so if you do it right, you skip about 10 minutes of fighting for the price of 3 grenades. Much easier to do the jump than it is to play the entire level
To any of those who are struggling with the door on Two Betrayals, the "Visual information" he talks about is the way the animation loop on classic graphics. In the classic graphics, the door panel will have this scrolling orange screen that goes down. When this disappears, press the button a second time and then run and crouch behind either of the energy shields. This will prevent you from being spotted right away if the two jackles outside happen to be on a bad patrol loop.
One main trick that I learned the hard way about The Library is that you shouldn’t stop running, literally, just sprint to the next checkpoint, shoot the food that you think they’ll kill you, don’t be afraid to throw grenades to clear an area and try grabbing the shotgun as quickly as possible and just run like there’s no tomorrow.
Who taught you guys to backpack reload? Just double tap the reload button and switch weapons, so like x x to reload twice, the Y to switch to your other gun, and then after a second or so it's ready to go. That's why it's called "backpack reloading" homies, it reloads in your backpack. Hope this helps for any future runs
When you said "backpack reloading" I think you meant "infinite ammo reloading" glitch or whatever it's called. Man, I had to play this level solo on PC where you cannot do this glitch (or at least it's a lot harder to do). I've played through this level once LASO and will never do it again.
CONGRATS! Good luck on the others(Halo 2 LASO PTSD). I always forget not everyone has played the campaigns 1000s of times and know all the spawns, level layout, and tricks like the back of their hands. Learning all that stuff was so fun as a kid like flying backwards in the halo ce banshee will make it basically hover. Great vid.

38:11 if I remember correctly, you can can jump on the glass wall at the beginning of the double bridge and jump to the next bridge by using the buddy jump or grande jump method. I remember doing that with my cousin back on the original Halo when it first came out
I took this challenge on upon myself because of you. I currently have 4 achievements left and they are Halo 1, 2, & 4 LASO. I'm on a time crunch too. But damnit you owe it to me to finish this fight.
I beat LASO on CE, 3 and 4 within a few days. But Halo 2? It's been about a month and I still haven't returned. That shit is on another level of tedium.

Im excited for you guys! My friend has been on a similar grind and our journey has almost been parallel to yours. We also started with Halo 2 thinking wed get hardest out of the way first. About the same time you released the gravemind video we also got stuck on it. MCC freezing up and booting us out after getting through the impossible elevator the same way it did to you, and after 3 separate 5+ hour grinds, I gave up and we’ve been tackling all the other laso campaigns. Also got/ are still stuck on Truth and Rec, but we have finished Reach, ODST, we are on The Covenant on 3, and we are probably going to start 4 this week (im so glad to hear that ones easy).
I do love that you guys made it through and even inspiring others to try. Had soloed all of the LASO challenges was both a fun and very rewarding experience
This is a great video so far rocket sloth! Did you know your voice is the exact same as Whoever the guy is on the channel FilmArtsy? It’s basically 1 to 1
when it comes to the silent cartographer after you activate it, Ive stopped going back up the traditional way. if you go around back where the 2 elites are(usually just blow them up with a rocket launcher) following that hallway, you should see a corridor across the big room where all those grunts are located. if you go down that corridor, you'll come into a room where theres 2 jackets in a platform above you. If you kill them and then do a grenade jump, you can get up there and lo and behold, theres a cloak. You can take that and pretty much make your way past the next rooms all the way up past the hunters. Leaving just one big room where you can kind of sneak by real quick if possible and use a rocket launcher to kill the gold elite, then use the warthog to drive back and quickly get to echo 419 completely ignoring the invisible elites outside
You guys know you can easily take a ghost all the way to the end of Two Betrayals from the cave after the second pulse generator? Just park it in the gap in the door and push it with a banshee.
Finished 1, 3, 4 and infinite on LASO. By far Truth and Reconciliation after the gravity lift was the hardest. Took me 4 hours alone to beat that check point. Halo 2 just gives me anxiety
15:31 sad thing is, he never realized he could get that banshee pilot to fall out of the banshee, allowing him to get in the banshee. With just one simple trick.
3:45 Funny Story: I was playing this level a while back with a friend and we were fighting the hunters in that room. I was out of ammo and was jumping around and the hunter did a charging attack at me, and it flung me into the air to the next floor giving us a later checkpoint and then when we got Keyes, the game saw that i had that checkpoint and must have gotten confused because it skipped the whole part where you protect Keyes and take on of the alien ships.
On Two Betrayals you should have used the glitch to fit the banshees through the jammed door into the big room with the bridge you were stuck on. I used that glitch to more easily get through the level on regular legendary.
Truth and Reconciliation actually has a couple of different skips for the ending. Making Keyes hostile to you skips the dialog with Cortana in the gold elite room about how to escape. However, doing any kind of grenade jump out of the hangar skips a trigger that allows the enemies to spawn when you return to the hangar with Keyes. The level is coded to end after that conversation, when you press the button in the hangar OR when all the enemies on your return to the hangar are dead. Since they can't spawn because of the grenade jump skip, the level just ends when you reach that point. Combining these skips allows you to end the level when you reach the gold elite room with Keyes. Useful strat for that Legendary speedrun!🏃♂
Wishing you luck. I'm pretty close myself. Only hard ones I've got left are LASO 2, 3 & 4, Halo 2A environment kills, 4 player legendary final mission achivements and that's pretty much it.
Silver's HaloCompletionist guides made LASO not bad for me. Quickest and easiest (and most boring) way to get the H2A Environment kills is to search only H2A SWAT, wait til you get Lockdown, and sit at BR3 shooting down the Sniper Tower and Middle stalactites. I got 3-8 per game that way. And while you wait for the stalactites to respawn, sit in the corner opposite of the fusion coil barrels BR3, wait for enemies to come up, and shoot them for more Environment kills. Lots of barrels around the map like in Library and Blue 2, but that's the sneakiest/easiest spot to get a few. You got this!
@@casey45334 Yeah not having too much trouble with LASO, it's more I never get Lockout as a map. Biggest reason I advocate for a veto or map selection option in multiplayer. Didn't know SWAT had that though, thought it'd be lockout without stalactites, thanks mate.
The glitch in truth and reconciliation worked because of the grenade jump, you skipped a load zone, it has nothing to do with killing marines. in speedruns they kill marines to skip dialogue and to aggro so they move faster.
That's actually some really good info! I've been searching for the mechanics of that skip and wondered how killing the marines would factor into the skip.
@@darren_cx3 like most games theres invisible "boxes" that trigger events such as enemies spawning, dialogue, cutscenes, etc. . These boxes are typically big enough to cover the pathways players are expected to go through (doorways). They dont usually extend all the way to the ceiling so with clever maneuvers you can get around them and break the level.
32:53 that one is suuuuper easy! Watch the round thing on the left side of the control panel. The moment it starts to turn is when you have to hit the button again. It is frame perfect so you're technically aiming for 3 frames after it starts turning, but aiming for that is a good way of getting within a frame or two of success (about 1 in 5 runs it will work).
15:40 PRO TIP FOR ANYONE ATTEMPTING THIS: you actually can do the assault on the control room bridge drop in co op. Once one player lands on the ledge and then to the ground below just run forwards through the level and the player left behind will be teleported to you soon.
I'm working on Reach LASO once I finish that I'll have every achievment on MCC! Also quick question will there be any rewards in Infinite for 100% the MCC I feel like there should be.
Not any we know of. Even then they would most likely be exclusive to camping achievements. Multiplayer achievements are *way* too luck based while being way to cheese-able to reward anything of substance.
We must not forget these heroes and what they had to sacrifice. For their decision required courage beyond measure. Sacrifice. And the unshakable conviction that the fight, their fight, wasn't forsaken. They have been ennobled, and they will be saluted. (Nice twist on halo 3's funeral scene to respect these guys).

The Library on LASO is my favorite CE campaign to play. Also, when you described “backpack reloading” I wtf’d so hard before realized you were talking about the infinite ammo glitch instead. You’re still not backpack reloading, which must have sucked because it’s pretty useful. It’s where you reload your secondary gun while it’s in your backpack, not on the floor. Also, impressive doing the last part of TB on foot. I always push a ghost through the broken door.
Hey, congratulations and welcome to the club of beating Halo CE LASO! On your comment at the end about your disagreement regarding the traditionally accepted ranking of LASO difficulties (Halo 2 > Halo: CE > Halo: Reach > Halo 3 > Halo 3: ODST >= Halo 4), it should be noted that these rankings are based off of doing them solo. Playing with multiple people means that you restrict yourselves from a lot of speedrunning and load zone techniques used primarily in solo runs.
It could be argued that Halo CE is equally as hard as Halo 2 due to how different its gameplay is compared to the rest of the franchise. Players are just getting less and less used to CE. Plus Halo 4 is only so easy cus of the Catch Skull, I'd argue ODST is much easier imo.
@@tTaseric That is a fair point with Halo CE, because of just how different the game plays. The one major benefit to Halo 2 is its spaghetti code, allowing for tricks that allow much easier play. The one difficulty I really had with Halo 2 is just how damn quick you die. Halo CE on the other hand offered health packs.

Congrats, I tried laso but got tired after thirty minutes with barely getting to the cafeteria in the first level. You guys keep on trying, you never know infinite might get delayed again.
In the library, after you grenade jump onto the cube, you can just jump and crouch into the ledge of the thing after that- so you just need to do 1 grenade jump.
Been doing the same shooting for a perfect MCC before Halo Infinite. Halo Reach, 3, and ODST were tough but doable. Halo 4 was a pushover, we did the entire campaign in one weekend. But Halo 1 and 2 have been our only holdouts because the glitches we have to use to get through are so tough to get right when a single plasma pistol shot can end you
I did this trick before, and it was really easy! I even managed to do it in single player! Basically you have to stay on the side of the Mountain, and drop down, and do a Crouch jump that breaks the fall! I’m really good at Crouch jumping in long distance from a long fall, and I’m pretty proud of that!😊 15:10
Doing that grenade jump on Truth and Reconciliation solo was such a brutal spot for my LASO run. I don't know how many hundreds of times I tried that before getting it. Very nearly broke me though, that's for sure.
Somebody probably already explained this, but the killing marines part in T&R is not necessary. Basically what allows you to skip that final part is having grenade jumped from the hangar bay, and so after the marines' and Keyes' dialogue, it skips you to the end. The reason speedrunners kill the marines is because if Keyes is angry at you he will skip the dialogue as well and you shave off that part as well. But it's not necessary to skip the last wave of enemies.
For the control room there is a fairly easy way to prevent ennemies from spawning. You have to throw a grenade on the side of the covenant turret on the bridge, get inside the turret before it starts rolling because of the explosion then if you fall in 2 step first on the cliff and then on the ground you will not die. It works on the og xbox at least.
Its so frustrating when youre about to get to a checkpoint and you just "grunt bombed" the last elites and jackals then you see a dying grunt fly towards and before you can run you just think back on your life decisions as the grunt explodes sending you back to a checkpoint 20minutes ago

I struggled just beating ODST on legendary. The amount of grunts with fuel rod cannons was just unfair

On silent cartographer when jumping down the shaft, there’s actually a dark platform you can jump on instead of jumping down the entire distance.

You need the 3rd weapon to preserve rocket ammo - if you swap the weapon out after hitting reload twice it doesn't consume ammo when it reloads

I did laso on halo ce 4 months ago i had 2 levels to finish it. However i lost my progress :(

About the same time you released the gravemind video we also got stuck on it. MCC freezing up and booting us out after getting through the impossible elevator the same way it did to you, and after 3 separate 5+ hour grinds, I gave up and we’ve been tackling all the other laso campaigns. Also got/ are still stuck on Truth and Rec, but we have finished Reach, ODST, we are on The Covenant on 3, and we are probably going to start 4 this week (im so glad to hear that ones easy).
I do love that you guys made it through and even inspiring others to try. Had soloed all of the LASO challenges was both a fun and very rewarding experience

when it comes to the silent cartographer after you activate it, Ive stopped going back up the traditional way. if you go around back where the 2 elites are(usually just blow them up with a rocket launcher) following that hallway, you should see a corridor across the big room where all those grunts are located. if you go down that corridor, you'll come into a room where theres 2 jackets in a platform above you. If you kill them and then do a grenade jump, you can get up there and lo and behold, theres a cloak. You can take that and pretty much make your way past the next rooms all the way up past the hunters. Leaving just one big room where you can kind of sneak by real quick if possible and use a rocket launcher to kill the gold elite, then use the warthog to drive back and quickly get to echo 419 completely ignoring the invisible elites outside
You guys know you can easily take a ghost all the way to the end of Two Betrayals from the cave after the second pulse generator? Just park it in the gap in the door and push it with a banshee.
Or just jam that banshee through the door and take the banshee itself through the rest of the mission

Finished 1, 3, 4 and infinite on LASO. By far Truth and Reconciliation after the gravity lift was the hardest. Took me 4 hours alone to beat that check point. Halo 2 just gives me anxiety

3:45 Funny Story: I was playing this level a while back with a friend and we were fighting the hunters in that room. I was out of ammo and was jumping around and the hunter did a charging attack at me, and it flung me into the air to the next floor giving us a later checkpoint and then when we got Keyes, the game saw that i had that checkpoint and must have gotten confused because it skipped the whole part where you protect Keyes and take on of the alien ships.

On Two Betrayals you should have used the glitch to fit the banshees through the jammed door into the big room with the bridge you were stuck on. I used that glitch to more easily get through the level on regular legendary.
If you guys plan on going for all achievements for mcc it should be noted that there is a ODST achievement for completing the game solo Laso (SLASO)

Truth and Reconciliation actually has a couple of different skips for the ending. Making Keyes hostile to you skips the dialog with Cortana in the gold elite room about how to escape. However, doing any kind of grenade jump out of the hangar skips a trigger that allows the enemies to spawn when you return to the hangar with Keyes.
The level is coded to end after that conversation, when you press the button in the hangar OR when all the enemies on your return to the hangar are dead. Since they can't spawn because of the grenade jump skip, the level just ends when you reach that point. Combining these skips allows you to end the level when you reach the gold elite room with Keyes. Useful strat for that Legendary speedrun!🏃♂

I set and succeeded in my goal to beat the halo campaigns on legendary before infinite. I'm happy enough with that.
Wishing you luck. I'm pretty close myself. Only hard ones I've got left are LASO 2, 3 & 4, Halo 2A environment kills, 4 player legendary final mission achivements and that's pretty much it.
Silver's HaloCompletionist guides made LASO not bad for me. Quickest and easiest (and most boring) way to get the H2A Environment kills is to search only H2A SWAT, wait til you get Lockdown, and sit at BR3 shooting down the Sniper Tower and Middle stalactites. I got 3-8 per game that way. And while you wait for the stalactites to respawn, sit in the corner opposite of the fusion coil barrels BR3, wait for enemies to come up, and shoot them for more Environment kills. Lots of barrels around the map like in Library and Blue 2, but that's the sneakiest/easiest spot to get a few. You got this!
@@casey45334 Yeah not having too much trouble with LASO, it's more I never get Lockout as a map. Biggest reason I advocate for a veto or map selection option in multiplayer. Didn't know SWAT had that though, thought it'd be lockout without stalactites, thanks mate.

The glitch in truth and reconciliation worked because of the grenade jump, you skipped a load zone, it has nothing to do with killing marines. in speedruns they kill marines to skip dialogue and to aggro so they move faster.
That's actually some really good info! I've been searching for the mechanics of that skip and wondered how killing the marines would factor into the skip.
@@darren_cx3 like most games theres invisible "boxes" that trigger events such as enemies spawning, dialogue, cutscenes, etc. . These boxes are typically big enough to cover the pathways players are expected to go through (doorways). They dont usually extend all the way to the ceiling so with clever maneuvers you can get around them and break the level.
Oh that's exactly where I thought my LASO dream would die too. The raw hatred for the grav lift room forced me to grind out the grenade jump.

32:53 that one is suuuuper easy! Watch the round thing on the left side of the control panel. The moment it starts to turn is when you have to hit the button again. It is frame perfect so you're technically aiming for 3 frames after it starts turning, but aiming for that is a good way of getting within a frame or two of success (about 1 in 5 runs it will work).
15:40 PRO TIP FOR ANYONE ATTEMPTING THIS: you actually can do the assault on the control room bridge drop in co op. Once one player lands on the ledge and then to the ground below just run forwards through the level and the player left behind will be teleported to you soon.

Not any we know of. Even then they would most likely be exclusive to camping achievements.
Multiplayer achievements are *way* too luck based while being way to cheese-able to reward anything of substance.

The Library on LASO is my favorite CE campaign to play. Also, when you described “backpack reloading” I wtf’d so hard before realized you were talking about the infinite ammo glitch instead. You’re still not backpack reloading, which must have sucked because it’s pretty useful. It’s where you reload your secondary gun while it’s in your backpack, not on the floor.
Also, impressive doing the last part of TB on foot. I always push a ghost through the broken door.

Hey, congratulations and welcome to the club of beating Halo CE LASO! On your comment at the end about your disagreement regarding the traditionally accepted ranking of LASO difficulties (Halo 2 > Halo: CE > Halo: Reach > Halo 3 > Halo 3: ODST >= Halo 4), it should be noted that these rankings are based off of doing them solo. Playing with multiple people means that you restrict yourselves from a lot of speedrunning and load zone techniques used primarily in solo runs.
It could be argued that Halo CE is equally as hard as Halo 2 due to how different its gameplay is compared to the rest of the franchise. Players are just getting less and less used to CE.
Plus Halo 4 is only so easy cus of the Catch Skull, I'd argue ODST is much easier imo.
@@tTaseric That is a fair point with Halo CE, because of just how different the game plays. The one major benefit to Halo 2 is its spaghetti code, allowing for tricks that allow much easier play. The one difficulty I really had with Halo 2 is just how damn quick you die. Halo CE on the other hand offered health packs.
I might be wrong but I think (in T&R) you can hit the hangar bay shield door switch early to trigger the end cutscene where you did.

Congrats, I tried laso but got tired after thirty minutes with barely getting to the cafeteria in the first level. You guys keep on trying, you never know infinite might get delayed again.
In the library, after you grenade jump onto the cube, you can just jump and crouch into the ledge of the thing after that- so you just need to do 1 grenade jump.
Been doing the same shooting for a perfect MCC before Halo Infinite. Halo Reach, 3, and ODST were tough but doable. Halo 4 was a pushover, we did the entire campaign in one weekend. But Halo 1 and 2 have been our only holdouts because the glitches we have to use to get through are so tough to get right when a single plasma pistol shot can end you
I did this trick before, and it was really easy! I even managed to do it in single player! Basically you have to stay on the side of the Mountain, and drop down, and do a Crouch jump that breaks the fall! I’m really good at Crouch jumping in long distance from a long fall, and I’m pretty proud of that!😊 15:10
Doing that grenade jump on Truth and Reconciliation solo was such a brutal spot for my LASO run. I don't know how many hundreds of times I tried that before getting it. Very nearly broke me though, that's for sure.
Somebody probably already explained this, but the killing marines part in T&R is not necessary. Basically what allows you to skip that final part is having grenade jumped from the hangar bay, and so after the marines' and Keyes' dialogue, it skips you to the end. The reason speedrunners kill the marines is because if Keyes is angry at you he will skip the dialogue as well and you shave off that part as well. But it's not necessary to skip the last wave of enemies.

For the control room there is a fairly easy way to prevent ennemies from spawning. You have to throw a grenade on the side of the covenant turret on the bridge, get inside the turret before it starts rolling because of the explosion then if you fall in 2 step first on the cliff and then on the ground you will not die. It works on the og xbox at least.

Its so frustrating when youre about to get to a checkpoint and you just "grunt bombed" the last elites and jackals then you see a dying grunt fly towards and before you can run you just think back on your life decisions as the grunt explodes sending you back to a checkpoint 20minutes ago
