It's been amazing to watch you grow jimmer! From a shed dwelling pretend race car driver to racing actual race cars, winning races, championship, and also becoming a dad now! All that success couldn't have come to a more deserving guy! You've brought quite a few of us chat gremlins through really hard times, and for me you're one of the people who inspire me to keep on fighting against my depression. So thank you Jimmy, and may the future hold many more successes for you and your family
Jimmy's videos are honestly probably the reason I bought a PC, wheel, and iRacing subscription when I had the chance. His videos on stuff like Assetto Corsa mods left me with an itch that Nascar Heat and Forza could no longer scratch. Then in my first few weeks of iRacing, I ran into some dude named Justin in an ARCA Lime Rock race, and he posted a link to a track guide on youtube. Ended up running into that guy again a couple of times. And now I'm on a Hakkinen level sabbatical, but I'm getting that itch again. The world is a weird place.
I was already into PC gaming but I agree, I remember watching him just because it was fun in late 2016 after high school. took me another 6 years to actually learn to enjoy motorsports and get a rig but I think jimmy sparked it for a lot of us EDIT: probs more like late 2017 I wasnt that early
Jimmy is responsible for me spending more than $10,000 of my hard-earned money over the last decade on silly sim racing equipment and software. And I would not have it any other way.
Jimmer is an absolute legend. Back in 2020 a friend of mine got into SimRacing during lockdown. We both watched Jimmer a lot during this time and I helped my friend to learn more and more about sim racing. We ended up doing a 24h of Nurburgring race on iRacing as part of a league, just the two of us, and some how we won it! It was an amazing feeling and it was mostly down to Jimmy that my friend got into sim racing to begin with. Sadly a few months later, my friend took his own life as he was very depressed but never told anyone about it. It absolutely shattered me and I didn't know what to do with myself, I even had to take a break from watching Jimmys videos. But in November of 2020, I decided to pay tribute to my friend and race in Jimmy's Race for Mental Health (I think it was only the 2nd year back then!) and did the entire 23hour race solo. I was an absolute wreck come the end, but I completed it, and I was so elated! Getting to race on a virtual track with Jimmy was such a cool experience and I hope I can take part in the 2025 race again :) I also ended up wrapping my real life car in the same livery that my friend and I drove to victory in the n24h, complete with massive anime girl on the side lol. As Jimmy's whiteboard always says "It's ok to make mistakes, share your passion, enjoy yourself!"
M140itasha? Or are there 2 Jimmy community members with anime girl liveries on their cars? It's a real possibility. Gutted to hear about your friend, that makes the livery much more poignant 😔
I met Jimmy at Brands Hatch circuit while looking for a job, always watched his videos and was amazed to so him there, the best character such a nice guy! That day he inspired me to make my own videos! Thanks Jimmer!
What drew me to Jimmer wasn't only just the memes and sim racing, but his openness to share his struggles with mental health and encouragement for others to do the same. Jimmy's annual Race for Mental Health is this weekend for Mind, a mental health charity in the UK.
25:25 grown man see, grown man cry. I can still remember watching this very video and the smile it brought onto my face, and it still brings a few tears to my eyes. The same smile comes back with every new video, *every single time* for years. You're an absolute *LEGEND* Jimmy!
I was there at Donington when Jimmy had won his first two races, a bunch of us had decided to go through the garages just to try and give him some support before his races. Jimmy spotted us and immediately stopped what he was doing and invited us into the garage and showed us around the car answering any questions we had and just having a normal conversation with us all about racing and cars in general even though he could've been preparing himself for the race. Super nice guy and definitely deserves all the success 😄
Jimmy Broadbent is one of my heroes. I've always thought sim racing is a perfect stepping stone into real racing; if you're fast in a sim, you can be fast in a car. I remember subscribing when he was just over 100K subscribers. I remember watching video after video of laps around the Nurburgring (I even salute the Rebel Tree whenever I pass it in a game). I remember his win of the iRacing Indy 500, when he's not really an oval racer. I remember him being broadcast in the US, racing F1 and Indy drivers, during the pandemic. I remember watching his first kart race, his first Praga race, and his championship run in a real racing series. Through it all, I've watched a man in a garden shed realize a farfetched dream while making sim racing content for guys like me. I don't think I've ever cheered on a guy I don't really know any harder than I cheer for Jimmer. I feel fortunate to know who he is.
Watching Jimmer grow maybe saved me, I think I found his channel at the right time in 2020, I 'd just found out I had secondary progressive MS and had to give up my future hopes, I had to move in with my parents and give up a decently paid job. Luckily his enthusiasm for racing games made me pick my pad back up and start enjoy racing games again (I'd had to stop driving because my eyes were effected by my MS), Now I'm in a new house with a PS5 and Moza Set up (still have the MS-Never gonna lose that but I don't feel down about it because I won't let it). Thanks Jimmer for being there man.
Beautiful video Justin. Jimmy has been a great ambassador for our hobby and for mental health. He richly deserves the rewards hes received for the joy he's brought to so many of us over the years
Never NOT going to cry listening to Jimmy's story. Just like I will never forget, having been made redundant from my dream job in the middle of 2018, deciding to check out videos on TH-cam for the first time and finding Jimmy's video driving the old Spa circuit in a V12 Matra F1. The sound and action was amazing but what really hooked me was his commentary, and its what has kept me coming back all these years. Owe this man so much, my best friends and my girlfriend I owe to this journey and while I can never thank him enough it's not stopped me trying. Love you Jimmy, you've had such a positive affect on so many lives. The Zolder 23 hour is just a part of it. Three hundred thousand pounds and counting.
I started watching Jimmy in like 20116 or 2017 and it felt so cool to find someone who was so easy to relate to, watch and learn from. I started playing iRacing because of him in 2017 and now I work there (which is just an absolute dream come true). I have the best job in the world thanks to Jimmer and I cannot express how much that means after being in a really rough place all these years ago. Someone whom I have never met in my life has made such a huge impact on it, that's just so insane to my tiny brain. Keep up the great work Jimmy and DJ, you guys are doing great work for sim racing and real life racing.
He's inspirational. As a guy who loves racing and would love to have a simulator like he has I really have enjoyed seeing him grow. His Indy 500 win on iracing was a highlight for me
Going from the shed sim room, to buying and running Minty, to racing in praga and NLS, its been an amazing journey to witness over the years. Jimmy and Super GT were the ones that motivated me to move to pc and sim racing over console racing games
My dream racing battle (in karts or real cars) is Jimmy Broadbent vs. Austin Ogonoski. A heavily-determined and emotional British sim racer who races cars vs. A deadpan, Subway-eating, Canadian sim racing developer with a "just do it" attitude who also races cars.
A few days back I wondered: when will someone finally make a documentary about this amazing human being. He made me become a sim racer and I share - in a similar sense - a familiar mental health history. I wish Jimmer nothing but the best.
Jimmy's content helped me through my hardships with depression in 2019 and introduced me to my favourite hobby that provided me a healthy escape from my problems and allowed me to have increadible fun and meet lot's of new cool people. I'll always be thankful for that and I'll never stop supporting Jimmer
Jimmy is the reason I got seriously into Sim racing. His positivity, openness of his struggles, and ability to critique himself honestly is something I try to achieve.
despite how little i've watched Jimmy since about 2017, I can agree that his impact has for sure changed both hte sim racing part of youtube, and now the lives of many. Here's to next year's Race for Mental Health!
This is one of your finest videos so far. It speaks to many of us, even at a level above racing. About life... there's bigger lessons and encouragement here outside of racing (as well as racing, of course), but not everyone hears it from a channel like yours or Jimmy's. Thank you, it's made an impact on me personally.
I met Jimmy during the SimRacing Expo in 2019 and he is till this day one of the nicest people I ever met in my life. We had a little chat and he asked also about me and my background (even followed my old Instagram Account) and it was so special to me, since I've been watching his videos for well over 8 years now. He even remembered me when I came by to his stream months later to say hi, which also goes along with what he says in the video of how he treats his chat during livestream. And even after I left Sim Racing in early 2022, I continued watching his videos, because he is a huge inspiration to me in following your dreams and reaching your goals, even with a modest background. Seeing him win with Praga for the first time or winning the championship give me goosebumps everytime I see it. When I get sad or let down, one of the things I do is watching some of his old videos or clips not only to make myself feel better, but also as a wakeup call to never give up. He is an inspiration to us all inside and well beyond the racing community
First video i’ve seen of this guy and can comfortably say that if anyone deserves all the fame they’ve gotten it’s him. such a humble and genuine dude. Sweet documentary too.
“Share your passion” a quote written on Jimmy’s whiteboard for how many years now. He’s the literal embodiment of that quote. A shed dwelling TH-camr climbing from just creating videos for he was passionate about, to becoming a caster, to participating in gokarting races with his fellow passionate TH-camrs to getting a chance to race on Nurburgring which he races so many times virtually. I love his journey, and will always root for him
Jimmy got me into iRacing so, yeah, my bank account isn’t happy about that! 😂 Big fan of how open he is about his life & mental health etc and happy he’s having irl success now. Thanks Jimmy
Dude and his videos single handedly made me go back into simracing around 2019. I think the key to his success is his infectious enthusiasm, humour and the fact, that watching his streams and videos feels like spending time bantering with your buddies.
A wonderful piece on a man who has deserved everything good he has made for himself. I've watched him for around 10 years now, in the early days I was going through what was the hardest time of my life, struggling with a big break up that took most of what I had in life from me as well long-term mental health conditions. I was close to the end at that time but watching him made me feel there was something to focus on in life and I got more into sim-racing too which i've always been into but I realised that I needed that to get me through one day at a time until I survived. It all still feels surreal now that I watch streams I would have watched anyway of various forms of motorsport, many of which I followed before he was involved like the Britcar series, I often have no idea he's in a race until I hear his name, just like you hear the name of any other racing driver. Add that to the online 24 hour races where you have names like Max Verstappen on the same track it all feels like the man has achieved something amazing. To think there are greater days ahead is a fantastic thing, so many people are so happy to see the guy succeed. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.
No lie, brought tears to my eyes watching this, mans come so far, and cant wait to see what the future holds for him and his soon to be expanding family!
16:00 ah so thats why the kart stuff simmered down. I loved the club 100 videos. Been watching for 6 years now and its been an amazing journey for him.
Jimmy's videos and streams are always a highlight of my days. His story from the lows of life to where he is today truly is an amazing and heartfelt story, and through his videos we felt like we went through it all with him. I'm glad Jimmy is getting the recognition for all his years of hard work, determination, and never giving up on himself.
It sounds so parasocial to say, but I remember feeling so proud when Jimmy got the call to Praga, and then kept getting calls and winning things. Because here’s this genuine, fun guy who’s clearly doing all of this for the joy of it, and he’s good at the driving aspect, WHILE managing to engage with chat and talk through his laps and offer commentary, it’s a really special combo to see. And at the same time, he’s saying “I can’t believe they called ME, I don’t deserve to be here!” when from the outside it looked like the most natural progression. He was just the last person to see it, and now watching him question it less and be willing to just go for it feels so awesome watching from the sidelines. It’s been a hell of a journey so far and I hope it keeps going and keeps being fun
Jimmy got me into motor sports years ago, it’s been a pleasure following his story. He seems to be a great guy and a fairly quick driver. Hope he achieves even more!
I have been watching Jimmy since he had just under 10k subs, he is a big reason why I got into simracing and his streams really made me feel better whenever I wasn't feeling great. He deserves everything and more, and I can't wait to see what's next for Jimmy 😊
Jimmy is genuinely my biggest inspiration. The moment i laid eyes on motorsport at a late age i knew i wanted to do it. I have a year before i start college and i move countries (from latam to canada) and im going to work my ass off so i can save up to see if i can achieve it. I love you jimmy and love to you for making this documentary. Biggest inspiration
It's amazing to see what happened to Jimmer in the 7 years I've been watching him, from watching some dude play Gran Turismo in a shed to meeting him at the Nürburgring to cheer him on, just insane.
Thanks for doing this well made video mate. Jimma is such a relatable human that we now know and love, it's awesome seeing people like this grow and succeed in life.
Been watching Jimmy for years. I feel like during my struggles with mental health, Jimmy was a friend I could watch stream and hang out with and things weren't that bad....the guy is awesome and deserves every bit of success he gets.
Thank you DJ for doing this. I was a late jimmer fan in early 2020, around the time of the Indy win or slightly before. Depression, no boundaries and a heart issue. He carried me through. Still fighting, partly because of Jimmer.
Well Deserved!!! Jimmy is obviously a very nice and hard working person with a lot of talent both in driving and reaching people!!! This is a success story!
As a karting content creator from Spain I definitely feel some kind of little obsession with the numbers. I feel identified of what he says from minute 16 onwards, but I’ll try to do what he says at 17:43. Numbers are just that, they shouldn’t affect your life just because the videos don’t have many views. Thank you for everything, Jimmy, you’re an inspiration! And thank you to you for making this video. It made me remember when I first discovered Jimmy’s channel (I think back in 2018), watching the Kammel GT races and then the Lmp1 with the legendary tractor 😍
Jimmy is the same guy that I met years and years ago before his big blow-up. He's stayed the same guy, remembers where he came from and is one of the most humble people in content creation let alone sim racing. He's the right guy to be the face of sim racing content and deserves everything that's coming to him. 💜
Great video! Nice to have a wrap-up like this. When friends ask me who my favorite youtuber is, or why I watch youtube in general, Jimmy is my go to example for how great this platform can be.
As someone who's followed Jimmer since I think it was 2017 or something, seeing his journey and now a documentary on the man feels so incredible. Really happy for him this level of success!
More of the long form content sim racing TH-cam needs! When Chris Haye and Barry Rowland left YT last year, I genuinely had concerns of how the next gen of YT creators were going to frame the sim racing space on TH-cam. I'm glad to see it's in good hands and thriving.
I remember comming across Jimmy in 2015/16 and while i wasnt a devoute watcher that watched every video i kept seeing something every 2-6 months and just grinning because i enjoyed it, then he bought the miata as i was in school to become a mechanic and idk... something about it just makes me happy to think about. And all the club100 races were a lot of fun to watch. Funny seeing 2 of the funnest racing youtubers i know getting together and racing actuall carts. Then when he got to race the Praga... Holy shit!!!!! It's been a pleasure seeing Jimmer bloom. Heck he's an inspiration! I really think that Jimmy's story would make a great movie.
I'm one of what must be a thousand people who got into simracing because of Jimmy. More than anything, his sheer passion was so infectious that I had to try it too.
So much respect fo jimmy, I was in a pretty dark place when a I found out about his channel. It helped me stay positive and get through life in more ways than he will ever know. Great vid this is. Subscribed!
Wouldn't have known any of this sim racing stuff existed without Jimmy. I didn't know that was the little link I was looking for. I saw his GT4 stream and subbed and then learned there were more realistic racing games than Gran Turismo and Forza, which was baffling. Finding out I could own and race with a relatively realistic and weighty wheel and pedals in my own place of residence was incredibly appealing. "I can do the paddle shift thing?!" -Guy who didn't use most of the Forza control schemes because I found shifting up and down with face buttons to be absurd
I found Jimmy on the youtube algo years ago showing me Gran Turismo stuff, dude was livestreaming GT2 and that was that. Watching him 'make it' has been super cool
Thank you Justin for this video. Jimmy has been such a great content creator, and i loved hearing his story, its so amazing that now he has a kid on the way, and i hope this leads to some more content, possibly between you two ❤
I love when the right person gets to live their dreams, jimmy you deserve all this & more man enjoy! Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for ya
I recently got the chance to race in karting after many years of getting on public karting once every few years. Seeing Jimmy racing in Praga made me happy to see the progress and how much have happened over the years.
What Jimmy's done is what im trying to do next year. Im turning 17 in July and therefore next season is the last year im eligible for all Junior Series. I come from a simracing background like Jimmy, and am trying to find sponsorship to race Fiesta Junior or Junior Saloon Car Championship. Hes a real inspiration, especially with his background.
Jimmy's one of us, he's came from nothing. But hemade it. Yes it took some luck and getting some great breaks but noone can say he didn't work bloody hard for them. And Jimmy, in the off chance you read this, you don't need to constantly reach for bigger or better. You made it. You did it. And there will always be those of us who will be proud of what you have achieved. Enjoy life, you've earned it.
Oh I totally live vicariously through Jimmy, like if things arent going well for me at least I can celebrate something he's achieved and think that maybe things will go better for me some time.
Jimmer is amazing. Followed him for years but two things stood out: The main thing was his quest to beat Bellofs time on the Ring which took years but was eventually done. It was so amazing to witness that I eventually achieved that brutal challenge too. The second thing was when he was streaming him driving on Zolder (Maybe it was during the Mind fundraiser too) and he had Whatsapp Web open, and suddenly a message from 'Misha' in the group chat 'NLS/VLN' (something like that) popped up on the livestream, before anything about this was announced at all. That small mistake was so significant, and I'll never forget how amazing it was to read that.
and im happy with a 100 views on my videos! lol Had 1 out of 150 videos hit over a thousand which took me by surprise. What you done is amazing and your still so grounded shows who you really are
Was a pleasure to work on this with you bro ❤
Its always quite surreal seeing it all laid out like this haha
It's been an amazing journey to witness! Excited for the future

22:00 "It's there, I just need to believe I can do it"
hell yeah Jimmy, that line got me all teary
Ultimate crossover
Big fan of how open he is about his life & mental health etc and happy he’s having irl success now.
Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.
that indy 500 win, still hits to this day. love ya jimmer! never change
It was time for such a review. I'm glad I found Jimmy on TH-cam back then.
And the journey continues 💪🏼🤙🏼🚀
Jimmy's streams and his story has pulled me back from some dark places, more than he will ever know, much love Jimmer, Keep on being you.
I have been waiting all year for The Race for Mental Health.
I’m not crying, you’re crying.. 😅 this hits me in the feels every time…
Lovely man talks about another lovely man!
Jimmy's attitude is his greatest asset.
Just PERFECT.Heartfelt, BEAUTIFUL. THANK YOU
🙏🫶❤️🫶
I love Jimmy’s attitude and presentation, always a good time. Glad to hear his story out here
Jimmy is so cool. It's nice when things work out well for good guys who have grinded
I am so incredibly proud of Jimmers achievements. he's becoming a real idol
i got the privilege of watching him progress into the amazing position he is in today
Such a cool guy to watch from Sim racing in his mom's shed to becoming a irl driver and has his own place to live he had worked hard and it paid off
And now expecting a kid...
Well deserved, man is a just a gem, life does you good sometimes, you just have to keep pushing and believe in yourself !
"I can do the paddle shift thing?!"
-Guy who didn't use most of the Forza control schemes because I found shifting up and down with face buttons to be absurd
I found Jimmy on the youtube algo years ago showing me Gran Turismo stuff, dude was livestreaming GT2 and that was that. Watching him 'make it' has been super cool
Thank you Justin for this video. Jimmy has been such a great content creator, and i loved hearing his story, its so amazing that now he has a kid on the way, and i hope this leads to some more content, possibly between you two ❤
Some of my fav vids on TH-cam thank you for this
Great video man, much appreciated. How time flies,. I can remember the 70K stream. Cheers to Jimmer for videos over the years.
I love when the right person gets to live their dreams, jimmy you deserve all this & more man enjoy! Looking forward to seeing what the future holds for ya
he just seems like such a good person. apt for you to make this video ❤
I'm already enjoying this video, keep the quality up man they improve each time
This was awesome, very well done. Jimmy is so beloved.
Haven't even started the video and I KNOW it'll be a banger
Jimmy's one of us, he's came from nothing. But hemade it. Yes it took some luck and getting some great breaks but noone can say he didn't work bloody hard for them.
And Jimmy, in the off chance you read this, you don't need to constantly reach for bigger or better. You made it. You did it. And there will always be those of us who will be proud of what you have achieved.
Enjoy life, you've earned it.
Couldn’t be prouder of a simple sim person who took an opportunity and has ran with it to live his dream in real life we all love Jimmer❤️
Jimmy is who made me realize that I loved cars as a hobby.
Oh I totally live vicariously through Jimmy, like if things arent going well for me at least I can celebrate something he's achieved and think that maybe things will go better for me some time.
Very cool to see this crossover of channels I watch. Been watching Jimmer since the Shed Days. Love to see his success.
This was incredible! So well done!
Empty Box got me into iRacing. Jimmy Broadbent GOT me iRacing.
Ah DJ and Jimmy. The two guys who made me fall in love with this stuff. Thank you!
Love this story. Just insane to see that happen with Jimmy from the start.
Jimmer is amazing. Followed him for years but two things stood out:
The main thing was his quest to beat Bellofs time on the Ring which took years but was eventually done.
That small mistake was so significant, and I'll never forget how amazing it was to read that.
and im happy with a 100 views on my videos! lol
Had 1 out of 150 videos hit over a thousand which took me by surprise.
What you done is amazing and your still so grounded shows who you really are
Love jimmy! Great doc.
Great video and getting to know Jimmy. I've been a follower of his for a long time.
Excellent shout out to Empty Box. Grumpy corvette racing is the reason I'm on iracing.
A documentary on my boy Jimmer!?! Wow. Talk about rising up!!!
Excellent video. Been following Jimmer since late 2017. Deserves all that he has accomplished ☺
Empty Box! He was my go to back then!
