Sadly I’m almost 100% sure that the middle earth shadow series is not getting revived with a third title, and both games were some of my favourite games of all time
Interesting how they bill this as "Alpha Gameplay" while it has features that they certainly never actually intended to put in the full release, like the incredible specificity of the dialogue and the very large amount of cinematic animation during gameplay.
@FatSkeleton No. No, that is not what happened at all. I'm sorry, but that kind of naivete cannot go uncorrected. They never intended to put this in the game. I mean, there isn’t that much missing. Most of the trailer-only parts are just cinematics meant to better highlight Nemesis mechanics, like cheating death and saviors. A lot of it is still there, just not as emphasized in actual gameplay. Except for the Overlord stuff, that got axed I guess.

Yeah, it's the main thing I was looking forward to doing back when this first aired. Forging bonds with my army. Hopefully the Wonder Woman game, if it ever comes out, actually leans into that. She's all compassion, so she's not going to hate an enemy as much as Talion hates his Orcs. Hopefully we can actually forge positive relationships as her with out followers in that game. Assuming we even have followers anyway.
Personally I think I would like it if all of the spies for the fort stood on the speech balcony with each of them kinda of chiming in with Talion finishing the speech off. (If there are no spies then it could any Orc Captains that participated in the Assault and lived). I know that the speech would be long but yet again people can always skip it if they want. But I do agree with you that If I had the pick between Talion (and/or Celebrimbor) giving the speech or an Orc captain doing it, I think that having the promoted Orc give the speech would be better because it would add some variety to the game. Like for example if the Orc is an Assassin or part of the Dark Tribe he can say that we won the siege due to the deceit and deception of the spies planted within the fort or if the Orc is a Commander, Tank, Berserker, or part of the Warmonger Tribe they can say that they won due to their strength, ferocity, (and/or tactics) and more given the other tribes and classes of Orc. Maybe even Talion/Celebrimbor can chime in at the end to wrap everything up because at the same time it doesn't feel entirely right for the person who leads the army to not give/be a part of the empowering victory speech

It's a scripted gameplay trailer. To put it bluntly, they lied. The "Alpha" never existed. Welcome to the modern gaming industry. Sorry, it's a lesson we all have to learn.
@@idontknow164 you cant tell me that this game is surely one of the best games still. Who cared they lied. They promised a good game, they delivered jt
because it’s a gameplay trailer so it means there not actually gonna have this all in the game they make it look really cool so more people would play it
They make the preset builds first and design the rest of the game around that after. The preset builds are usually very small areas that show what that part of the game could look like But in reality it may be too intensive to actually put into a full game. So they downgrade and optimize
It's an early prototype that shows what they want the game to be, polished up to a standard that is ready to show, but which might not be practical to make a full game like it.
For those taking my question seriously, lemme clarify. I know why they make the trailers so awesome - to sell the game. I just feel incredibly mislead or even lied to when trailers way over-hype the game to make sales, when the actual game doesn't even come close to living up to the greatness trailers displayed. Conversations with orcs have way less flair to them, curse is very different from the final game, the choice of who to make overlord is purely cosmetic and serves no gameplay purpose, and it was a missed opportunity to show more personality of the orcs by making YOU give the speech at the end as opposed to them. You may argue that it's supposed to be cinematic exclusively for the trailer, but it's called a GAMEPLAY trailer, I wanna see some gameplay that's actually true to what we experience in the final game, not some glorified version of it we'll never get to play, it's just a total tease.
I was VERY disappointed when you can only read the lore of certain landmarks. I thought those would be open regions as well along with the fort regions. Playing the first game, the map feels more expansive and wide, you can really enjoy riding a caragor onthe first game. Those same maps from the first game are their in Shadow of War, but you can only read about them. Bummer.
@@polishperson0104 the shadow wars last decades before Talion finally succumbs. A third entry could easily be made between those years, or hell, they could make a game about Talions years as a Nazgul. The Shadow games already break much of the lore, some more of it won't make people mad

Yk what, forget about most mechanics mentioned in this. The 3 things I wish that was in the final cut are the war chiefs getting their own badass intro’s, the chosen overlord giving the victory speech, and the necromancer being an actual class

1. We all know Az Laar would have been the perfect choice for Overlord had he survived. 2. Would love another Middle-Earth game with the Nemesis System.
Shadow of War is a great game. But this trailer fucking sucks. I realize that if they were to actually try to make the final game like this, with the extremely cinematic gameplay and highly specific dialogue from the captains, then they'd probably be spending a whole decade on just the dialogue alone. But for Sauron's sake, don't taunt us with awesome gameplay potential that will never be realized.
Makes the current game look less cool, that stormbringer kill the first time is crazy, that hammer being bashed against his skull is just so cool, then Spartan kicking him off the thing? Awesome
Osgiliath had a red outline, which makes me believe at one point it could have been thought as a playable region, I have no basis for this but since Ered Glamhoth appears in the map too, we visited it at the end of SoM and Minas Morgul has a semi functional commander system it feels like at least three regions were cut from the final version. It also makes sense when you think on how much each tribe was marketed as unique but in the actual game we don't have enough fortresses to have each tribe at least once as warchiefs
Looking at this now, it's blatantly obvious which parts, of many, are scripted and seemingly highly edited moments that you cannot get in your game. I would love to look past that, as the game we got, after the many updates and removal of microtransactions and other bullshit design decisions (mainly the Shadow Wars segment being unreasonably long and tiresome), is fucking fantastic... ...but I'm not going to look past it, because lying is lying, Warner.
I mean, it's only the little cinematic cutscenes that are pure script. Like, you can actually see the Stormbringer guy have a laggy animation when he sheaths his sword to do some attack, but cancels the animation immediately and teleports his weapon back
I mean... only if you're fine with certain snippets of dialogue being edited and re-used. Though with AI voicework it's more possible than ever to create new dialogue, but it'd be so much freaking work. It's not just making the dialogue, which won't sound right because there's no personality in AI-generated voices, it's making the situations themselves, and then programming the game to work with those... ...no, not with Denuvo still in the game. Though I think there's a GOG release without it. It complicates things, though, and wouldn't be possible with Steam versions without at least a crack. Yeah, sorry, no one would touch this with a ten foot pole.
i played this game countless of times, from Xbox to my new Gaming PC, but dammnn this game looked and feel much better in this trailer than the actual game, the orcs looked so much better aswell, i wonder why they removed so much content its a dammn shame, my guess its the consoles were too weak, because the consoles had very weak cpu at this point.
they didnt remove it. its just edited cinematic and build they only made for trailer. it was never added to any build they planned to release. just to sell more copies. I played it too the game was a shadow of this. not war
I seriously don’t understand why people shit on this game, do you have any idea what work went into making it? the game offers a completely unique and incredible experience so quit being over critical and be grateful

Why are the presentation builds always so much cooler than the final game?
Because it gets people to buy it
They make the preset builds first and design the rest of the game around that after. The preset builds are usually very small areas that show what that part of the game could look like
But in reality it may be too intensive to actually put into a full game. So they downgrade and optimize
It's an early prototype that shows what they want the game to be, polished up to a standard that is ready to show, but which might not be practical to make a full game like it.
Scale
After watching this again. I swear the announcers voice is Diana from the Hitman series.
Haha Good catch
I was VERY disappointed when you can only read the lore of certain landmarks. I thought those would be open regions as well along with the fort regions. Playing the first game, the map feels more expansive and wide, you can really enjoy riding a caragor onthe first game. Those same maps from the first game are their in Shadow of War, but you can only read about them. Bummer.
That would've been awesome
I think the next game will be more freely
@@edkircbj643 thats if there is
@@edkircbj643 well if they are making a next game and idk if they could considering how shadow of war ends
@@polishperson0104 the shadow wars last decades before Talion finally succumbs. A third entry could easily be made between those years, or hell, they could make a game about Talions years as a Nazgul. The Shadow games already break much of the lore, some more of it won't make people mad
2:07 i swear is this feature in the game I swear no orc gets Sauron's hand and the curse ability like that.
Stormbringers get that hand, but it isn't cursed
Cursed orcs can drain your health, wrath and I think focus. But they don’t work like in this trailer
@@Bshmjdsdyk yup, the trailer heavily implies the curse was supposed to be a permanent effect tied to a specific orc, instead of a timed elemental effect
You know, when I first clicked on this, I saw the top comment and thought “no way, Shadow of War is one of my favourite games, no shot this’ll make it look like a downgrade”, but I’ve been proven wrong. This was the most awesome trailer I’ve ever seen, I hope the threequel, should it ever come out, is even half as good as this.
out of everything, i wish they kept the orcs giving the speech instead of tallion.
7 years ago and still a masterpiece
This makes the final game look like a downgrade
Despite the game being my favorite game of all time I have to agree. They skimped out on a lot of unique content last minute. They even got rid of the spare an orc’s life thing😭
Yeah I agree but I guess that is the point of this demo to be more scenic to attract people
Let's ask for an update. Many people are playing the game again
@@Bolaway I don’t think they’re gonna make updates anymore. Hopefully if or when they make another game with the modern consoles and pc hardware they can push the limits of the combat and mechanics

Why the alpha version looks better than the actual game ._.
Scam
Shadow of War is a great game.
But this trailer fucking sucks.
I realize that if they were to actually try to make the final game like this, with the extremely cinematic gameplay and highly specific dialogue from the captains, then they'd probably be spending a whole decade on just the dialogue alone.
But for Sauron's sake, don't taunt us with awesome gameplay potential that will never be realized.
Need law where you can't alow to show fake trailers or its jail time for this.
@@VITAS874 PREACH 🤝
Who else wanted the game to be more like this.
It also makes sense when you think on how much each tribe was marketed as unique but in the actual game we don't have enough fortresses to have each tribe at least once as warchiefs
a shame how some things weren't added
I wish they stayed with a younger looking talien instead of the old one we got
I just noticed how randomly in the trailer Talion changes his armour from the Rohirrim one back to the Ranger armour
This game is still amazing
Looking at this now, it's blatantly obvious which parts, of many, are scripted and seemingly highly edited moments that you cannot get in your game.
I would love to look past that, as the game we got, after the many updates and removal of microtransactions and other bullshit design decisions (mainly the Shadow Wars segment being unreasonably long and tiresome), is fucking fantastic...
...but I'm not going to look past it, because lying is lying, Warner.
They should keep this
I mean, it's only the little cinematic cutscenes that are pure script.
Like, you can actually see the Stormbringer guy have a laggy animation when he sheaths his sword to do some attack, but cancels the animation immediately and teleports his weapon back
They should have added more follower cinematic scenes like overlord scenes. Other than that, I enjoyed this game.

Is there anyone who can mod the game to be more like this cinematic? That what be awesome.
I mean... only if you're fine with certain snippets of dialogue being edited and re-used.
