It was around 14C here but with that cold wind felt like 8C!! 🥶

(exceptional conditions here for this season, usually it's colder)

I have been overtaken in several occasions, by the topper, by other GIS etc...but this time (in my defense) I had a reef on and the outhaul maxed to depower the sail so I wouldn't be too quick and could stay close to the rest of the fleet!! 😅

The GIS is fast! Reefed and nearly same speed as 420 to windward!
I reefed the sail or the GIS would be way to fast for the rest of the fleet.
Still faster than all of them when running! 😉

Just found your channel love that I have finally found one here in Portugal! I've been thinking of building a small dinghy sailer. Any chance you can tell me if a license is needed for such a small sail boat?

All boats need license in Portugal except racing dinghies (if you are registered with a club and the sailing federation)
If you want to build one you also need to apply for a license at the nearest Capitania (maritime authority's office). You fill in a few forms, explain how the boat will be built (nothing too detailed) and then it will go for approval.
If all goes well you have 6 months to finish the boat. Once built it needs to be inspected by the MA on the dry and on the water.
After successful sea trials you can then get your "pink slip" . The whole process for my GIS cost around 300€
OFC I know many people who don't bother with any of the legal stuff and I'm yet to see anyone on a small dinghy being stopped and loosing the boat to the MA ( in this area). But that is a risk I didn't want to take.

@Gerald Trumpp it's a Frank Dion's Swampscott dory. 😉
@@TheBoatRambler Thank you Teo. Thats why it looked so familar to me. The CLC North-easter Dory is a kind of Fred Dion in stitch-and-glue and plywood. Bit it's not similar in the form of the planks. Franciscos boat looks really great! :-)
