Thank you sir, you saved my life. By chance, O'Reilly's had this part in stock and I've been able to fix it today. Myself, my wife and kids, we are grateful for your video. Have a good day !
Mechanic said Ford no longer made the part. Watched your video found the part on Auto Zone $31.00 and 5 mins later and I am back in business. Thanks you for your video.
So, I'm fairly handy around cars. Our 2019 Expedition started doing this on a trip 500 miles from home, along with some other unrelated issues. It never occurred to me to check the brake light switch as we were already stressed out. 2 minutes after dark with an assistant confirmed the switch was bad. $35 dollars for an aftermarket switch from our local auto parts store. Got home, found the switch no problem. After seeing that you only needed to twist the switch to remove it, it took me maybe 1 minute to swap it with no tools and we're back in business. It couldn't have been any easier. THANKS!
Man thanks alot this was exactly what was wrong with my 2010 expedition. Took less than 10 minutes the clip was a pain. This was a blessing thanks alot..💯💯
Thanks so much buddy!! Grabbed it at the parts store and followed your video. I'm sure you saved me a bunch of money instead of paying a mechanic or especially Ford Service dept.!!
yes siirrr. worked for me as well. thanks so much for this video. I was freaking out lol. I just left the ford dealer a month ago spending over 2 grand. I was not ready for another visit. 💯💯
Awesome video, thanks for making it!!! Several months ago my 2013 Expedition started having the intermittent problem of the shifter getting stuck in Park. I took it to Beach Ford, and after 3 days they were still unable to diagnose and make a repair; to their credit, Beach Ford did not charge me. Another video somewhere said something about checking if the brake lights work when the shifter is stuck. My brake lights didn't work when the shifter WAS stuck, but they worked fine worked when the shifter was NOT stuck. A few days ago the problem got really bad, and so today I called around and the local Advance Auto Parts had a new brake light switch. It took me 5 minutes to change it out right there in the parking lot. Before you do anything, take a look at the new switch so you know where to press your small flat tip screwdriver to release the electrical connection plug from the old switch. To remove the old switch from the mounting bracket, you have to turn it a partial turn - pay attention to the direction so you know which way to turn to reinstall - and then it will just kinda fall out - no need to force anything. For me, twisting it to get it back on the bracket took the longest amount of time because my hand was kinda fat for the space.
We changed our switch and it worked for a month without getting stuck. We're now stuck in park again. Brake lights don't come on. What should we do now?
@@edithguire9700 Maybe you got a substandard switch. It happens. The only thing I can suggest is to replace it again. I'm worried about mine going bad again, but so far it hasn't happened - yet.
I have a 2004 Ford Expedition - when I start the car first thing ( doesn't matter what time of day ), it will shift out of park no problem. If I park and let it sit for a few hours or more, typically it will continue to shift out of park. However, if I park for less than an hour, I'm unable to shift out of park - I have to turn the wheel back and forth, and eventually I'm able to shift out of park. Did you experience the same thing with your 2008 Expedition?

That’s awesome I’m glad to hear, sometimes you have to watch some mechanics.

Did you ever figure this out? We're experiencing the same.
could be a switch going bad
Would this be the same part for a 2008 Expedition?
should be, may be a different part number
Thx

how do I know if it’s the regular break light switch or the motor craft?
and what if the brake lights are still working? does it matter
Can this be also a problem on my 2012 or would it be a solenoid that's in the shifter?
This can be a problem on them as well, I had a 2008 with this same issue
Ok will change mine tomorrow if it continues with the same issue, and thank you by the way.
That's the brake light switch. That is what stops the truck from shifting??
thats what needs to be replaced
Wish you would tell me the name of the part or the part number. I've never seen a link and can't find one.
the link is in the description
Tego potrzebowałem. 👍
