Just fixed our 2008 Ford Expedition! I left to pick up my child from school and couldn’t get out of Park. I was able to get it in Drive to pick her up (left my foot on the brake while in line waiting for her). Hubby came home and watched both of your videos. Fixed it faster than it took to drive to pick up the part. Thank you!
I had been dealing with the stuck-in-park issue for about a two weeks. If i peddled the brakes several times I was able to get the shifter to engage. Last night it took 5 minutes to finally shift. That's when I found your video. Thank you sooooo much! I have a 2010 F150, which is pretty-much an Expedition with a bed. A trip to Autozone and $30 later, I'm back in business.

@@HomeownerRepair Hello again. I did change the switch, "Motorcraft" worked perfect. Thank you again for very educational videos. I love my expedition as well. Not the new ones. My only issue for now is the clicking, and little jerking when I come to full stop. But not always. When I bought it I didn't realize it, it was really harsh. Then I charged the 1. air flow sensor, 2. Spark plugs, 3. Cleaned the throttle and now it is much better but didn't go away. Someone at the forum said to update the tcm and clear pcm and adaptive table. I may take it to the dealer, see what happens. Thanks again. GOD bless

Awesome video... 2010 Explorer, same issues. Change Solenoid yesterday...problem continued. Changed brake switch today, all good! Shifting and lights - two wonderful things. Thanks for the follow-up vid - It took me about 15 minutes to change out the brake light switch on my 2008 Expedition - you have to poke your head way under the dash, sitting outside the car. It just twists on and off, the wire harness was easy to disconnect and reconnect. Here i Q1 2022 the switch cost $35 with tax from Autozone - ouch.

I was dealing with a broken stoplight switch but the customer had broken off the previous one before i got to the vehicle and i wasnt aware you had to turn it for it to click and actually begin to work. If you dont turn it the insides of the switch dont engage and the switch doesnt work. It was driving me nuts but your video made it all make sense. Thank you brother
Thank you for your video. This fixed my problem for $14.96! (Amazon) Yes not a Ford part, but Ford failed way to early. Fixes stuck in park with brake lights not engaging. Even worse while driving your brake lights will intermittently not light up.

I just want to say to God be the glory and the praise he allowed me to want to search on repairs and I came across this video Thank you my brother for this beautiful prepare video I have a 2014 Ford expedition EL XLT and I was going to get a $160 tow and $265 possible repair I searched this video put the switch in and immediately was able to put it in gear and go home after 3 or4 days!! Thank you God used you God bless $425 save!!
I followed the instructions for the first video and then found this one. I just ordered the part and hoping to get it in this week. My radio light has went out. Any experience with this?
I had an interesting additional wrinkle to this scenario. Had the intermittent issues with trying to get the shifter out of park. That went on for a few weeks and then I got a wrench symbol on the dash cluster, I looked it up and basically it said that it will show the wrench if there are issues with the transmission system. I also lost my cruise control function. I replaced the brake switch and it fixed the shifting, cruise control came back and the wrench symbol went away immediately so I think that if the switch goes bad enough that it will throw a wrench error as well. 2014 Ford Expedition EL Limited

Thanks for the video but I had at issue I had at light in my dash and say My parking brake is engaged all at time I press the brake pedal to release the brake but light stay on .. Can you help me with that please
The switch might be going bad or when you release the brake pedal if the brake light still stays on grab the bottom of the pedal and pull up on it. On some vehicles as they age that spring the brings the brake pedal all that way up might not be as strong as it used to be. Hope this helps you out. Tony
Check to see if the tail lights are working when this happens. If they are not working when the brake light is pressed it may be a bad brake light switch.
Does the new switch have to be locked into place in order for it to work? Said another way, is it connecting to something or is that just to hold it in place? I snapped the new one in but am having a problem getting it back into the bracket but tried the brakes to see if it would come out of park and it isn’t working? Wondering if the new switch is bad.

When my brake light switch went bad it was an intermittent problem. Sometimes the brake lights would come on and sometimes they would not. The switch was failing one in a while.
Homeowner Repair in my car, when I push the brake pedal, the rear taillight turn on. Does it mean that my car does not have this issue you mentioned in this video? When I open the driver door, the car warn me several time by some noises and the speedometer screen says “brake system malfunction”. Not sure if there is really a brake issue in my car or maybe there is another main problem and the brake system malfunction is just one of the consequence of that main issue. I would be grateful if you can advise me more.
?My 2013 stuck in park but both brake lights work but the top brake light is out can that also be considered for a brake light switch to get it out of park

I replaced my brake light switch It got stuck I checked your other video and I got it to work. Next day it started to work by itself. To avoid further problem the same day went to the Dealership and got a new switch put it on and it was working fine until today Dec 31 and it's getting stuck again. Any ideas?
Hi bro, I have a problem with the cruise control. Sometimes it activates without a command to activate it, and sometimes it stops working. Ford Expedition 2013
It sound's like something is shorting out on that circuit. Maybe try to disconnect the battery let it sit for an hour or two are reconnect the battery to see if it resets something, or if the battery terminals are corroded clean them up with a wire brush so they are making good contact.
Ok so I swapped this switch out and it is still broken. No brake lights. What next? By the way Ford updated the part and its now $64 at the dealership.
I just answered my own question. I found that the 5 amp fuse #43 in the engine compartment that is on the Brake Light Switch circuit was blown. I replaced it and now it works fine! But...what caused the fuse to blow??? Perhaps the brake light switch was indeed bad and when it failed it blew the fuse?? I'll go with that until I blow another fuse :/

Fortunately no, I had the radio light go out in my Explorer though and there was no easy way to fix it, so I bought an aftermarket radio.

If the brake lights are working and the third brake light is not, it's probably the bulb in the third brake light that is out.
I took a second look at it the brake lights are out in the back so hopefully the brake light switch will get it to were I can reverse my ford expedtion
Any idea where the back up light switch is located?
