This video is solid gold and will potentially save someone thousands of $$$! I know it did for me! My fuse wasn’t even blown, it was just not seated securely in its spot! So thankful for this video!!
Hey man I just wanted to give you a personal thanks this is probably the only video today that actually helped me with a couple of forums but when it really comes down to it you’re the one that got me out of my situation being stuck in a neighborhood that I don’t know so I appreciate you have a blessed day!
Bless you! You are totally awesome. After two days of frustration I found this video. So I checked my fuses and found a blown 10 amp fuse labeled Air Bag. I replaced it and that solved the problem. Thanks. (1997 Lincoln Town Car.)
Lol me to. Worried ready to drive my car off a clift. 1st compressor then radiator thank God the tow truck came to get my car take to the shop. He took the time to check it and my gear shift cap came off
A car stuck in PARK may be in traffic or at an ATM, etc. NO One has a fuse checker to do diagnosis. Use the small button available for emergencies that is generally next to the display of P N D L1 L2 R etc, go through the fuses when you get home !

Did either of you sort it out, what vehicles? I know that there is a solenoid, under a small square or round cap next to the console shifter, that can be popped out and something thin inserted to depress it in some vehicles. Also there is a switch that the brake pedal-arm pushes on to complete a circuit that otherwise will not be completed and shifter not 'allowed' to move out of park.
I have honda odyssey 2001 the gear some times hold in park not moving to R.or D after pushing break 10 or 7 times it will open and move down . Whats the problem do you think .
Sounds like you should see if your car has a brake light switch. Cheap and easy to replace. I know it sounds weird, but its a really common problem of 2000 and older mercedes. What makes me think that is that you have to press the pedal a bunch of times, seems the button is sticking.
The shifter wont move. Key wont come out. Car wont go out of park in mine. But mine says it's in drive tho even tho it's in park? Did it do that for you?
Hi, I saw your comments. What was the final issue diagnosed? I have the same problem, just mine. Mine stucked in park but shows Reverse. Thanks in Advance
Everything seems to work fine on my Tucson but the dam trigger on my shifter wont press in when in park. I use the shift release button to get it out of park everthing works fine only when i put it in park. Hyundia dealer cant seem to find the problem either. Anyone else had this problem and maybe could help narrow the problem.
@@rusticbalancebymarcus There is a little spring thingy' in the shifter knob on some vehicles, it needs to be replaced or jimmied' up somehow in an emergency. Some of the shifter knobs have a cap over them that can be pried off whereby the spring can be accessed. This may not be your issue, but I think it's one of the typical causes.
True no one made a video how to fix this😂 I broke mine by playing with it today My gear box kind of unaligned so I was touch the white clip in the gear lever and kaboom now I can only use manual release to drive out of P
@@trailerhitches I am able to switch gears but once it goes into park I have to manually get it out of park. I went to pep boys but they are not sure what’s wrong with it
While there is benefit to this video, it lacks significantly in effort. It assumes the viewer knows anything about where to connect the tester to (since the end of his connection on the tester is hidden). Doesn't go into any detail on how he narrowed down that it was a short in the wire. Really not for the lay person

David, thanks for listing your vehicle and year, most people
don't bother, yet it is very useful to know.
Tow truck came to get my car. Thought it was my starter. Dude says my gear shift underhood came off. God bless him

Thanks a lot for sharing
Simple fix for winter. Check the cables make sure they are clean no ice or slug on it.
It wasn’t just a simple swap of a fuse, it was a short circuit, you had to trace and make wiring repairs.
Which they didn't show us lol $100 plz
I can get it out of park if I use a screwdriver but goes back to being stuck once I put it back in park. Is that normal?
Use the screw driver, how?

I see no one ever answered this, did you ever figure it out because mine's doing the same thing even though it's a Ford Fusion

What if the break lights work but the shifter doesn’t?
Then it is most likely a different issue than the brake fuse.
