I Got The CHEAPEST Rebel 1100 Exhaust I Could Find... Does It SUCK?!

  • Before I install a "name brand" exhaust on my Rebel 1100, I figured it would be cool to see if my Shorty GP exhaust from my Rebel 500 would fit...and it did...and the results are CRAZY!
    This is one of the first exhausts I've seen installed on the new Honda Rebel 1100, and it's definitely the cheapest option...but is it the best exhaust?! You tell me!
    In a few weeks I'll be installing a new exhaust on my Rebel 1100, but until then I'll continue running this and blowing people's minds (and ears) as I roll by! haha $60 well spent? I think so! Order yours below!

    My understanding with these kinda mods are: The more you reduce the air restriction in and out, with the same stock fuel mapping, will result in a lean air/fuel condition. Its all good for now, but I would make plans to upgrade the air filter, and find a place nearby that does dyno tuning. They should also be able to help with re-flashing the ECM, byway of exhaust gas analyzing.

      Anything past the cat should not make a worthwhile difference in air flow. He should not need a tune. According to Burch the cat is in the header so it should not matter.

    • @kadelubensky7176
      @kadelubensky7176 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      It really won’t matter on these since they are not carbureted, they are fuel injected, therefor there is an o2 sensor in the exhaust before the cat, bike will recognize it’s running lean and dump more fuel in. No problems.

    It sounds like you're short shifting. Try letting the bike rev up more before you shift up. It really does sound like you're not getting nearly as much out of your bike as you can, and it's probably because you are accustomed to the 500, and are shifting where it felt like you should on the smaller bike.

    • @LifeOfBurch
      @LifeOfBurch  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I appreciate your concern, but you can’t base the way I “actually” ride off of a video. Often times I intentionally short shift so that the exhaust isn’t as loud so that the audio quality of my mic is still good, or I’ll leave it in a gear longer than usual if I’m mid-thought so that if I have to clip the audio there isn’t a noticeable jump in sound. I’ve been riding for over 6 years, I know when and how to shift properly. But understand that a lot more goes into making a “quality” video than you’d expect, including managing background noise, etc. Plus, if you think this is short shifting, you should ride the DCT model. It’ll have you in 5th gear doing 30mph lol

    • @JohnWayne-cb1tv
      @JohnWayne-cb1tv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does this bike have a tachometer? I test rode a Bolt and with no tachometer, I am pretty sure I was short shifting and it was pretty slow. Going off sound alone I would probably short shift my ninja but thankfully it has a tachometer for when I want to get on it, I know where the power is (6-9k).

    I put this on my 2018 SV650 to uncork that "V" sound. People worry about back pressure with these. If your CAT is before the header then the lion's share of back pressure is provided. I did a little experiment: remove the OEM and ride. The MPG went down to 46. I then installed this with the Baffle they provide. Back to 53.5 MPG, great sound on shift roll offs and engine breaking. Worth it for me!

    It sounds much better then the stock exhaust. It actually sounds a little bit more like a chopper/cruiser. Because it definatly looks like one, but it doesn't sounds like one (because this engine is pretty much Africa Twin copy/paste). The stock exhaust is pretty much trash - like this is usually the case in most bikes, but.. it's still a new bike and it's a matter of time to see more different exhausts on this 1100.

      It’s actually waayyy quieter than my Rebel 300 which has the same motor as the CBR300. The 300’s have their cat in the muffler so when you put a slip-on it’s super loud. The 500 and 1100 have the cat in the header so it’s much quieter.

  • @joshmoore6165
    @joshmoore6165 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, As I'm sure you could guess, manufacturers in this outrageously competitive market, must advertise and prove the maximum possible mpg and compliance with tight emission standards. Both to potential customers, and Federal EPA regulations. The primary way of doing this, is by leaning out the air/fuel mixture. Especially Honda. What you've done by removing the stock exhaust is raise the air ratio, possibly by a point or so. I'd take it kinda easy or, don't Moto GP it around. Watch your temp gauge, don't redline downshift it, things like that.
