- This is the PART 2 video for ☀️OLD BLOCK - My Scrappy Way!☀️ | My version of old "Merrie England" quilt block with fabric strips. • ☀️OLD BLOCK - My Scrap...
Today, I used a Foundation Paper Pieced pattern I designed to create the block a different way. The pattern makes a 12 inch block, and four of them together makes one GIANT block measuring 24 inches square! I could use 4 of these large units to make a complete child's quilt measuring 48 x 48 inches.
The pattern is EASY, and is available here:

If you think this GIANT block is too big, I encourage you to get some paper, draw your own triangles and try this block in the size and the look you like!
Back Story: I was paging through my book "Encyclopedia of pieced quilt patterns", by Barbara Brackman. I came across a block called "Merrie England" which really resonated with me. I liked the symmetry and the alternating lights and darks. In the prior video I didn't do too much planning. In this video, with an FPP pattern, everything comes out even. After making this block three different ways, I prefer just using scrappy strips and not worrying too much about matching.
