      Hey, does thr welcome sweep work and do you have the shifter light working with sound and light? Also dis you cut the C9 or you just relocate it?

    I did my STI cluster swap on my 2007 WRX and followed your guide and it worked perfectly fine I just have a question when i first installed it there was this loud noise or beeping noise that didn't go off and when i did the C9 connection to the other plug it went off however my radio doesnt work anymore is that beeping noise do to the Differential light because in your video you didnt have the noise, but you had the light on can you give me some tips please and thank you!!!!!!!

      Juan Ortiz sorry I'm not sure exactly why your radio wiring would be affected from this, I don't believe that the wiring crosses between the systems in anyway.

    do you know what terminal b29 does i cut it and noticed my coolant temp wasnt reading so i put it back together and now it just dosent seem to work so idk if its that specific wire that i should ground because i didnt de pin b29 right i might of messed up the terminal so should i just ground it at this point

    • @VinnieT
      @VinnieT  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      B29 should be for the High Beam Light. So put your high beams on and see if the light High Beam Light appears on the Gauge Cluster.

    question i put one in a 05 wrx my left side dont work as well got a plug and play adapter coming to make my left side work, but i turn my headlights on and it makes a constant beeping/ buzzing, is it possible due to not having the left side connected?

      Cut the C9 wire located on the right connector (i11). On the STi, this wire is connected to the buzzer and is normally ground. On the WRX, this wire is +12V and is part of the dimmer circuit. failure to cut this wire will result in the STi cluster making a loud buzzing noise.

  • @AleskisFox
    @AleskisFox ปีที่แล้ว +2

    My question is, I put this cluster from an 07 STi to a n/a 2006 Impreza, and I get a very loud continuous buzzing sound. What could it be the reason for that?

    Legend! Only video that helped me get this done. Different coloured wires on my UK car but apart from that it’s was so easy. Top guide, thanks! 👍 do you know if it’s possible to wire the C.DIFF to a c.diff switch/wheel? Obviously just to control the lights on the cluster?

    • @VinnieT
      @VinnieT  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rich Tully I’m not fully sure as I haven’t looking into this in a while, I know my dimmer switch when turned will dim or brighten the Diff light. I also had a guy tell me there’s a way to just make your own dim switch controls you have to insert it on one of the harness wires, but I wasn’t too worried about it considering just getting the cluster to work alone was a great accomplishment. To this day 7/26/2019, I still have the cluster running perfect with no issues, maybe down the road I’ll mess with it and add a dimmer switch and make a video on that, I may even go as far as changing the LEDs on the board to another color (probably blue) like I did to my scion TC, but that wouldn’t be for a while probably.

    Hey Vinnie, I’ve got a 2001 WRX and I’ve installed a V8 ‘05 STI dccd cluster and everything works fine besides the ‘rear diff temp’ light that stays on, but the only light that doesn’t turn on is the STI lettering under the RPM gauge is.
    Have you encountered or heard anyone who has experienced the same issue?

    • @VinnieT
      @VinnieT  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Chaz, the DCCD light sometimes can be turned off by turning the dash dimmer control up or down (mine is on the right side turn signal switch). When I turn the switch it will either dim the DCCD or brighten it. As far as the STI lettering goes, I'm not sure but you're wiring may be different since the car is older. I have not heard of people having that issue before. Hope this helps!

    Hey Vinnie,
    I need some help...
    Firstly, my C9 wire is not plain brown, its yellowbrownish/blue wire and it is next to c10 which is red/blue wire. Funny enough, my c8 is not red and white, its purple/green?
    Secondly, I have no B28 wire, lol???
    My car is 2003 WRX Sedan 2.0T 5MT JDM with 260km Cluster.

    • @a3otik2j
      @a3otik2j 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok so C9 is the wire for dimmer circuit which I will just need to wire it to B4 to avoid buzzing sound. so regardless of the wire colour, it is what it is.
      B28 is not really concerning because i don't use cruise controls."
      so other than that, as long as i shave off C plug, Version 8 Sti cluster should be plug and play into a Version 8 WRX?

    • @VinnieT
      @VinnieT  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      @evanriel ปีที่แล้ว

      If you have an 05-07 sti cluster in an 02-04 wrx, the electrical polarity of the ABS light is switched (meaning when ABS is functional the light is on and when ABS has an issue the light goes off, opposite of what it should be). So an easy solution is to purchase a small harness that reverses the polarity, Aaron’s Subie Electronics sells this. Hope that helps!

    Kinda late but i put a jdm(km/h) v9 cluster (not sure from what year) in my 05 RS, all i had to do is plug all of the connectors in upsidedown but now i think my gas gauge is reading lower than it should. Know how to fix this? RPMs and speed seem accurate, just the gas gauge.

    • @VinnieT

      Wxlfson what you have to do is fine a wiring diagram for your car and for the V9 cluster and compare the two and find out which wire controls the gas gauge and then match them up inside of the connector.

      First of all, super THANK YOU to Vinnie!!!
      I just installed a 06 sti on my 02 wrx “manual/turbo”. Followed Vinnie’s steps and shaved the two plastic strips on the left connector in order for it to slide in. Relocated the orange and white wire. Then relocated the second wire but that eliminated something else, so I backed out of that one since obviously it was not the right move.
      Everything works except the ABS light is always on, the dimmer does not work, and the temp reads around 32 F which is fine cause I don’t have this on my 02 wrx cluster to begin with. I want to start by fixing the ABS light, so I found the wiring diagram for the ABS for the 02 WRX, and now I need to look for the same diagram for 06 sti so I know what to rewire to switch. I have limited time, so I will post my findings when I get to it.
