Surprised Steele was also interested in watching this lol. Tips for you guys, you can power the fpv camera/vtx using the mavics original battery if you dig deep enough so you wont need to fly with 2 batteries.
Here's a cool idea: mount the fpv camera backwards and put the goggles on so you can fly backwards without reversing the shot in post 👍

In the FPV community you get something called a cheater quad with a camera facing each direction and switch to change between them
@@bandobandit353 yeah it's a really cool system, I've seen some pilots mount the GoPro on the back of their quad too, and just fly forward, but have backwards footage from the GoPro
I was thinking the same thing as you can already fly fpv with the litchi app!!! But it would definitely be a game changer going backwards!

I’m like 10 steps behind you in the FPV drone world, lost my first one on the first flight and had no way to find it (I know I could add gps etc but hey I’m a newbie), with my DJI’s that would not have been an issue, going to give this a go with my old spark (not as brave as you guys, to try with my mavic 2, lol). Great video guys. Love the winter wonderland. Like the flight through the trees, then out of the tree canopy to see the lake view.
I'm not an FPV pilot, but I do like the idea of you guys getting a cinewhoop and adding that content to your already great videos.
Would like to see a full 8 to 10 minutes of just your video material, with comment only at the beginning and the end; perhaps a montage of your best elements stitched together. I really never tire of good cinematic footage. There is some great stuff out there, but all seem so short - 30 secs here; a minute there.
As for crashing drones (according to one comment below), it comes with the territory. While no one plans on crashing, it happens.
Not a matter of - if, but when. Cost of the drone doesn't matter. Happens to the best of pilots.

Great video, I DO use both Consumer drones/quads as well as FPV quads. That being said, I totally use my Mavic (Consumer Drone) to do FPV shots. Albeit they (consumer drones) cannot do "Dive" shots but are adjustable to get those turn and run and gun shots. I use DJI Goggles and a Mavic 1 and simply turn off object sensors and it basically will do those shots without those abrupt "object sensor warnings." Good Luck and thanks for sharing. ~M
I have that exact wolfwhoop wT03 except mines out of commission thanks to a rough crash.. putting it on a mavic was a great idea!
and just a little interesting fact, you *can* put gps on a racing drone and it gets a rudimentary return to home function, along with various information on the goggles like direction to home, distance from home ect, but it still won't hover like a mavic lol
Did this a long time ago with a Phantom 3 pro.. main reason was to be able to have one person fly and another to control the camera.. they can tilt and do what ever they want with the cam while I control the flight.. the cheapest way to get a 2 person drone control..

It's good to experiment. Chances are you will learn or achieve something you never though before. A shot like this i think can be done with Any of the smaller DJI drones, no need for the added camera. Just go slow thru the trees and speed up the footage a bit in post if you want , then slow it down for the wide landscape shot. For a real speed one take shot, i would probably use a Caddx Vista on a DJI Air. That way the delay will be almost gone and ghost branches will be less of an issue. For proximity with a Mavic i sometimes turn off object avoidance. That way movement of the camera will flow better. Nice footage! and props for attempting proximity flying over snow, always a challenge. Best.

That was entertaining! Keep it up! How about putting it on the end of a chopstick, and mount it on the backside to get a third person view (TPV) like in a game. Might give you better special awareness and save you from crashes.
There is a digital fpv system from DJI for Mavic Pro, Pro 2. Not racing fpv but with head control and things

I was thinking about the same idea. Great that I found it. But I was thinking of installing the dji fpv air unit on the mavic air. Would the mavic air be able to hold an air unit and a battery pack on it. I Would love to see you doing a tutorial on that.

I have an idea what if you guys moved the current camera that you have closer to the centre of the drone so that rather than getting the inside of the propellers tips when they’re spinning you actually see the outside of the propeller tips when they’re spending which would help you gauge your ability to fly through objects better using that perspective seeing more of the front of the drone from the top. Just a thought

how do you get such a clean image out of the mavic air, my shots are always fairly grainy even at iso 100
This is awesome but Is there a way to do the opposite? I want to get into the long range fixed wing plane market. However after using my mini for so long analog and even the digital FPV leaves a lot to be desired. Is there any way to put a DJI replacement camera on a FPV drone and figure out a way to transmit the video?
Great video! Thanks for posting 🎉🎉 DJI actually makes FPV goggles that are insanely awesome! They utilize similar technology that they have for binding the controller to the Mavic, so you can get HD footage with super little lag in your goggles from insane distances (nearly 2 miles) as well as control the gimbal with head tracking. I would highly recommend if you have some extra money to throw into your drone! 🎉✈️ anyways thanks again for the sick video!
I have question, what about mounting DJI FPV unit on mavic 2 pro so I can see HD through goggles and record through Hasselblad in that case would be possible to use mavic 2 pro controller??

that was so funny, I would try the insta r mount for the mavic 2 and see what happens, you can do pass through shots but with the 360 you can switch angles, speed things up and give to the viewer an 100% fpv experience
At 1:36 it appears to be receiving yaw input causing it to take off and get disarmed or a runaway. Based of experience the arm switch might have the yaw channel as well as an aux channel. It could also be the accelerometer. Subscribed and liked it. Was that the drone from the wish video? It looks similar apart from the green light at the back, the better video and better stability.

You also can integrate GPS into it too btw...

Most fpv pilots fly acro mode these days...
The feature is called "angle mode" and can be set to a switch in the "modes" tab
There is also some way to setup an altitude and position hold over the GPS, but idk how that being set up🤷♂️

Kind of. It's called Angle mode. It doesn't allow the drone to hoover on it's own, but the drone will self level with your hands off the roll and pitch stick. You still have to control it's altitude with the throttle though so it's not a completely hands off hoover.
correct and you can enable angle mode as well where the quadcopter levels when you let go of the sticks. however wind will make it move as well as inertia.

Can you turn the gps off? If so it should handle more like a cinewhoop. I have been putting the same setup on my Q500 4k and Parrot Bebop 2 for about 3 year now. Before that I had the fpv on my rc cars. Great video!

Ive trying put some fpv cam and vtx on my DJI phantom 3s, but the fpv kit shut down my dji signal, GPS and remote, is that because I use band and channel on my vtx exactly just like dji has??
