    Sam even correctly guessed _what level_ Caleb would cast Counterspell.

      @@animewarrior3 Matching the level is also guaranteed to counter, so 3rd level counterspell would've been enough. 4th level is only needed if the enemy upcasted the Slow to 4th level.

    I saw this happen once before when my party fought a Hag coven, except it was 6 way counterspell. between the coven and most of the party.

      @@gunnarkilborn3915 Yeah, the party was a Bard, Sorcerer, Wizard, Monk and Cleric. They knew they'd be fighting a coven (and eventually a lich) so the bard, sorcerer and wizard all took counterspell.

      C2 is genuinely the best of the three. All characters got to follow their storylines and grow within the group and the BBEG was deeply connected to them. The final fight wasn't (only) to save Exandria, but to save their friend's soul.

      @@LRPtakeseh, they all have pros and cons. I’ve been watching since episode 32 of C1, and personally nothing will ever hit the highs of C1 for me. I did love C2, especially later C2, but it often meandered and felt directionless. I struggled with the level of angst that suffused the show in C2 especially since the party was determined to not consider themselves heroes despite arguably being more heroic than Vox ever were. Personally, I find M9 a more challenging watch at times. It definitely still has amazing highlights though, and I love many of the ideas from it. I just don’t go back to that well when I look for *my* moments in general.
      It’s all about context though. C1 was the campaign I watched when I was pulled out of the worst time of my life, and got me to the best I’ve ever been, C2 was what I was watching when I reached my lowest. The themes are on point though and I appreciate them immensely. Cad Supremacy.

      @@connorblack99 I'll be honest I found CR during covid, so I was very late to the party. That's probably also why I'm so attached to those characters. They're just a bunch of "everyday people" with "everyday problems" that got tricked into saving the world. Not the Heroes that Exandria wanted, but definitely the ones it needed.

      So long as there are casters within 60 ft with counterspell and reactions to burn, they can counterspell in however long of a chain it takes. It's a wild spell. If I remember correctly, because of how Reactions sit in the action economy, technically speaking the caster who is being targeted by the first counterspell can even use counterspell themselves to counter the counter.

      Barring the use of a subtle counterspell using metamagic (thus making the otherwise purely somatic counterspell not noticeable) or similar.
      As long as someone with access to counterspell is within range, has the spell prepared and still has their reaction available...?
      There is nothing RaW preventing a counterspell being counterspelled. Course, once you have used your reaction to counterspell, any subsequent counterspells to counterspell your counterspelled counterspell would need to come from another counterspeller who still has their reaction available. ;)

    • @smippycis6285

      You can counterspell counterspell because counterspell is considered a spell, so RAW allows counterspelling counterspells since counterspell is a spell.

      @patrickguyum 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

      Idk what about this interaction would prove its a bad design. 2 reactions, a warlock spell and a 4th level spell against a spell effect that could spiral into a tpk is a worthwhile but considerably costly endeavor.

    • @smokescreen100
      @smokescreen100 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @patrickguyum It can slow combat to a crawl. I once had a 5 chain counterspell because BBEG cast disintegrate, wizard counterspelled, BBEG counterspelled, bard counterspelled, a magic minion counterspelled that, and our warlock/paladin multiclass counterspelled that. The annoying part was that several of the counterspells were too low level, making us roll dice to see if the counter went through. I think the warlock won vs the minion but the bard failed vs thd BBEG and the BBEG auto succeeded vs the wizard so all it ended up doing was wasting spell slots

      @@patrickguyum there should be some other ways to negate or at least reduce an effect of a spell. Absorb Elements is amazing, Shield is pretty good. It's just Counterspell that is shit. There should be more defensive options to be used as a reaction, so the magic combat feels more dynamic, like in Harry Potter, when Dumbledore battled Voldemort at Ministry of Magic. That battle was incredible.
