LinusTechTips Linus! I laugh more and get more from these videos than I do everywhere else all day. Either the script writing, or your delivery, seem to be the reason I love them so much, but together they help me get the information I need, with the right amount of comedy mixed in. You're really one of the few people who can make me smile while I watch videos (TV,TH-cam, Hulu, Netflix, and random Internet vids included). Hat off you you Linus, you have helped me recover from surgery, helped me stave off my injury related depression, and kept my mind busy with your world of 'techings'. I've already subbed, so I can't do it again. I drop a like on -most- videos. (As long as they are relevant to my interest). I don't know what else to do in order to better show my appreciation.
Cats can tell when something is expensive. They will either claim it as their own or destroy it. Linus has shown this with his cats, as they have destroyed a 30 inch monitor when given the opportunity and they have claimed the $1000+ cockpit setup that they could not destroy because it's all made from steel.
I got my Obutto Revolition yesterday and bought today 3 Samsung 32" monitors ... cant wait to fit everything together and place myself inside this cool rig. What i can say after mounting the first two frames ... its rock solid and really well manufactured!
As a Sim Racing guy I have seen many reviews on this cockpit from only a sim racing standpoint. Because Obutto said it is also a workstaiont it is nice to see a review that test that aspect aswell! Great review and cool intro!
verified. I got a new rottie from the pound and my neighbor's cat easily fit inside of it. That bengal is probably claiming the hell out of that rottweilers lower colon about now.
Linus, thanks for reviewing the Obutto cockpit. I have the previous model, which is very much like this one, for the past 4 years or so and love it. At first I used it as my daily workstation for gaming and other computer duties, but later on I decided to get a separate desk for my normal day-to-day computer use. Now, my cockpit is reserved for my racing. This thing is perfect for racing. You attach your wheel to the front plate you can put a keyboard on the side arms and a stick shift on the side with the pedals on the floor mount. iRacing doesn't get much better than this! The reason I decided to stop using it as my day-to-day work station, was mostly because of the seat. As you said it's not height adjustable and it is sometimes difficult to get in and out of. Especially if you get up and down multiple times a day or per hour just to get printouts or to get a drink, and things like that. Because the seat is so low to the floor, and the bolsters on the side are high, it takes a little effort to pull yourself out of the seat. However, if you're going to sit in it for a few hours during a long race, it's perfect. Thanks again for reviewing it, & I look forward to seeing your review of it as a gaming cockpit instead of a daily work station.
How are you finding it 1.5 yrs on? I've had mine for 3 yrs and I've moved house a few times, so starting to get to know how to dismantle / reassemble it pretty well. I use the centre wheel mount for a 4th monitor, and the side tables just hold stuff. The biggest gripe I have is the monitor arms and how the internal sleeve washer must sit perfectly or the limb will sag. I hope they fixed this on later versions. I got the 1st gen of this seat. Anyway, keen to hear what you think about it and if you've modded it in anyway.
Hmm... I see why this would be amazing for a sim setup, but for an actual desk simulation/replacement, as kinda implied with your usage in the video, It would drive me nuts. But an all-in-one racing sim setup, sure!
The company that was a reseller in the US has stopped selling obutto products last year "2019" glad I bought mine right before this happened and grabbed all of the accessories as a large discount. Having a full HOTAS and G27 setup is very beneficial to they kind of games I play. Definitely worth it for me. I fixed the sag by mounting the keyboard arm in from the same side as my mouse. Zero sag.
I expected a review for a Sim Racing Cockpit with some sim games, not a workstation review of a sim racing cockpit. They even advertise it for as a workstation cockpit. I have my desk with my PC and multi monitor stands for work (nothing beats a proper desk setup) But when I want to do some Sim racing I would like to have a standalone computer with a cockpit and some racing wheel and pedals. It's a pain to set them up on a desk every time you want to race.
Guys I want to play the Witcher 3 with graphic mods and at 4k 200fps. Will this work: •cpu is AMD SEMPRON LE-1250 •ram is 1 gb ddr2 •motherboard pegatron socket a2 •gpu nvidia 6150se •windows 95 •my case might be a bit overkill but it's a pizza box •any feedback? Might be overkill I know
Jimmy Whatever Like every tech or pc video on TH-cam lately has people begging to know what to build to play a game that hasn't even come out yet and likely wont require much of a system to play anyway. These guys are making fun of those people.
2:53 Holes in your socks?! C'mon Linus, you gotta do better than that. Doesn't Corsair make some high performance socks with high speed memory cotton, industrial grade elastic, and LEDs that flash more rapidly when you sweat?
banaantjexx164 as pacman is a single threaded applications most of that computer will be running idle ... also the only 32 core intel CPU that i know of runs at around 1.7GHz so yes it will run pacman not as well as your gameing rig will but it will run pacman just due to it running slower per core as Xeons are ment for higher core counts but lower speeds so they can have more cores for more programs running at the same time due to a totally different work load than a conumer person will probably ever have.
Instead of steel, they should've used aluminum or carbon fibre, though. Or titanium. They're lighter and (to what I think) much more rugged and durable than just steel. :/
Well, they should at leat make a steel version and a carbon fibre one. That way, we get to choose which material (in sacrifice of price) and that would work well for their market as well. (Imo)
Civic Magress No because not enough people would want to be buying this anyway, and if the company spent all that money investing for it to be built into a different material not enough people would care and they would just end up loosing profit. If it was a ridiculously popular thing then I guess it would be worth it.
I need to build a pc to run bf4 at 8k 500 fps. Will this work? CPU: Intel I1 overclocked at 0.7 ghz RAM: Crucial 1 MB ddr1. HDD: 1MB Eastern Physical White. GPU: HP 16MB MOBO: The one I stole out of my school dumpster. Case: None, let the PC get some fresh air OS: Windows Vista.
I can't wait to win the lottery. Can I hire you as a personal IT guy? I'll give you a million bucks (or pounds, since I'm Scottish) as a budget and another million as a salary. Oh, and your remit will include finding me a house with the best possible Internet connection. Obviously I'm going to have to win quite a lot of money, so I'll have to wait for the EuroMillions quintuple roll-over. It's normally around £100,000,000!
While it looks kind of neat, this workstation thing is way overpriced. As soon as these things become popular to the rest of the market, a Chinese company will be able to sell bits and pieces of steel much cheaper then w.e this dumb company is doing. Yeah I get it your charging for design. But dam your designing this still, for the high end market of people whom are willing to spent 10% of their overall budget for this THING. Why not sell the thing for cheaper and penetrate new market of young people who have jobs.
Well for starters... that seat by itself would be very expensive. Also, did you see how much thick and heavy steel there is in this setup? This thing will last forever and, according to their website, is more comfortable for people who work 8+ hours a day in front of a computer (not just gamers). Lastly... this is a premium product for people with premium budgets. They'd make zero profit if they reduced the price to make it affordable because they simply won't be able to sell enough units. It's a niche product. Their site states that shipping weight, with seat, is about 175 lbs/79 kg. This isn't some college dorm desk from Wal-Mart. This will outlive you (as long as you aren't a yeti gaming in a salt mine).
The Curious Noob that doesn't justify the price. Are you saying that you can't get any premium products at this level without the high premium cost? No. And they don't have to keep serving this little niche market. It doesn't matter how comfortable it is, a $24k designer bag is still JUST A BAG. This is why the Chinese will do better at creating this.
Ill trust my Money on the people who originally made it an not some over worked Chinese children who are forced to make cheap "steel" parts for things like this.
Gingrawr When this becomes popular, if this product isn't already made in China, you can bet your grandma that they will move production of it to China.
***** Keep telling yourself that... It is a solid product, heavy as hell (expensive to ship), and made to last. There are plenty of $500 "wooden" desks built like crap with those flimsy metal drawer rollers and not built to last for more then a few years. That's not as bad as those stamped aluminum/plastic desks for modern style (aka crap style). Hell, Walmart sells couple of desks in the $200-300 dollar range which is pretty much particle board with a thin artificial veneer. The r3volution starts at only $800 in the United States without options and that ain't bad at all when you admit they have bills and people to pay. Also, Obutto would not use Chinese steel because it is pretty horrible and they want to maintain their reputation of building quality products. I don't know if you've ever bought Chinese stainless utensils but after a while, they start to rust. Maybe I'm wrong about them not being able to charge less. I can be easily persuaded and if you know how to create and market a quality 150 pound steel workstation for under $800, you should start a business or just sell the company to me.
