Hi Steve, when you were the Lifeboat headquarters I was waiting for you to look at the modern monument to the men who lost their lives saving others. You did show it on camera as you were going for your lunch. My great great Grandfather is one of the men whose name is written on the monument he lost his life with another man saving the crew of a stricken tea clipper in County Down , Ireland in 1837. The crew were saved but the coastguards My relation were tipped out of the boat as they got in. There was a poem written about their bravery and I visited Poole a couple of years ago on my way to France and stopped off to see the monument. I wished we had longer Poole is fantastic. Thank you for showing what we missed. I have to say the Fish and Chips we got in the harbour were excellent. I always enjoy your videos. Thank you .
Sorry to hear your g.g.grandfather lost his life whilst saving others! We none of us know just how many of us live by a thread connected to the past and how our ancestors actions resulted in our here & now!😊
Steve please don't doubt how wonderful and informative these videos are. Beautifully edited and shot. You have shown us so many unique places. Thank you
I have lived in Poole for my entire life and I have to admit that your video made me very proud of my home town. The video has given me a whole new appreciation of Poole and for that I want to thank you ❤
Brilliant video Steve. You seemed a bit uncertain as to the potential popularity at the end of the video but I think you can rest assured that we'll all love this as much as your other vids. Genuine passion, information, education, the sea and good weather.... You simply can't go wrong when you have those ingredients. Cheers mate.
Must thank you again for highlighting my Airliner/ boat Model shop in West Quay Road. As your video has been mentioned and has made several sales as a result of your video.. So thanks again.
I’m so glad it was a ‘Blue Poole’ day for you in our home town. It’s easy to take it all for granted until you see it through someone else’s eyes. We’ve been here over thirty years now and I’m so glad you posted this, thank you. And please come back with Alicia, there is so much more to see close by.
This is just what you do and you do it so well. You might not know what you’re doing but neither do we, so we’re exploring together. I love it. Thanks Steve for another great video.
@@danielchance2217 Not much, to be honest: Brownsea Island, Compton Acres. Rather, I'd go across the mouth of the harbour on the chain ferry at Sandbanks to access Studland, Swanage and Purbeck for dunes, safe beaches, a lingering taste of what seasides used to be, and Hardyesque big countryside respectively.
Very interesting to see a stranger exploring my town. Born and bred in Poole, there is some fascinating history associated with the town I could tell you about! Glad you like the old homestead.
I have not commented on your vlog for a long while but I just had to today. I so enjoy waking up and having my morning coffee with a surprise video from you. Always just the perfect time to spend some time learning and exploring. You are such a treasure and I look forward to everything you put out there. Have the best week and see you soon!!! P.S. your content works very well for me. I live near the Rockies of Alberta, Canada and anything you share is exciting to me as I have never been to the Europe especially the U.K.
To have witnessed the Sunderland flying boats of BOAC departing to the far reaches of the empire and the world in the 30's and 40's from Poole Harbour must have been exciting. Poole harbour is definitely one of my favourites.
I like all of your videos, no matter how they are presented and even if you say, you are “scrapping” and going from place to place I still enjoy them as well. They are all very interesting.
Believe me it's not. The harbour where Steve visited is pretty nice but it's a long way from the grim town centre. Unless you like ugly office blocks built on the seventies 😂
@@philipedwards9038 Yes, there's also a tendency to eulogise if it's a sunny day. As an ex-local (New Forest), Bournemouth, Poole, Sandbanks, Swanage and Lulworth were regular family day trips. But it's sad to realise that these places (certainly the first two) have been subject to the 'modern blight'; this affirmed in various vids on here. Correlative to their newest mission which the RNLI seemed a little shy about, you really wouldn't want to walk around there at night, especially as a lone female.
@@pierstheoneandonlyI was there pre-pandemic and the waterfront in the summer was very busy with paddlers of all kinds. Everything was very busy on a Saturday
An extremely fascinating walk around a pleasant area of Dorset. Professional as ever, Steve guides with an easy style and injects a high level of enthusiasm and his obvious enjoyment is apparent !.
We had lots of holidays there when I was a kid - a scary number of decades ago. We stayed in Rockley Sands caravan park (now Haven). We used to watch the local kids jumping into the water in the harbour. And Sandbanks was our favourite beach. The houses didn't cost millions back then and had rickety wooden steps down to the sand. I always thought it would be fantastic to live in one. I loved the small marina near the caravan site. Years later, with my own family, we lived on a harbour in the Netherlands and I became the harbour master. Mum collected china from Poole Pottery on the Quay every year - I've still got a set. Really enjoyed your visit!
Indeed, She used to carry sewage from Southampton out into the Channel. Now berthed in Southampton Docks and run and maintained by an enthusiastic group.
So glad you kept the camera rolling in Poole Steve. Lovely city. The harbour with all the beautiful ships is a dream. And the pubs looked very, very inviting!! Thank you for spoiling us with this wonderful video!
I like so much when you just wander around a place. Your enthusiasm is inspiring. Great to watch where you go! And your commentary is great to listen to as well!
Poole does indeed look very cool. Love all those characterful pubs. Definately would love to see your good self and Alicja doing a crawl there next year. 👍
Lovely video really enjoyed never seen Poole before. What a beautiful place, please go back and do another in Poole but take Alicja with you, you are great together❤
Poole Quay is vastly improved since I was there last (I lived in Dorset for many years) - vibrant and colourful, lots going on. The only time I've seen a water spout was over Holes Bay. I like your natural enthusiasm that comes over well with your narration :)
Oh wow. There is nothing so powerful and inspiring imho as seeing someone immersed in their true passions ... especially accompanied by such wonderful weather and off-the-charts cinematography. TRU. LY. STUN. NING. What a "bonus" video. Thanks for sharing Steve!
Really enjoyed this. Never been to Poole but have been to Portsmouth. I love the South Coast of England. Brought back many memories. Thank you 🏴🇦🇺
What a surprise a smashing SM video on a Tuesday morning, so relaxing I feel like I have been to the seaside, strange but seeing boats out of the water always makes me feel a little sad, why I have no idea, but they should be on water. Again thank you.
Hi Steve, really enjoyed your tour of Poole & especially the Lifeboat College. My dad over the years collected thousands for the Lifeboats, even had me dressed up in Souwesters as a child to go collecting. He was awarded the Lifeboat Medal for his endeavours before his desth in 97. Keep up the great work. Always enjoy your Blogs!
Thank you Steve this was a wonderful tour of the waterfront, Like you I have always had a passion for boats and the sea so this was delightful. Until next time stay safe and well and cheers from Oz.

Steve, welcome and glad you enjoyed your visit to my hometown, born, bred and living in Poole, its interesting to see a Scotsman's view of our port. You'd obviously heard of our "New" bridge saga, whilst the old one continues (with regular maintenance). Thanks for sharing your thoughts on your visit to our town (P.S. town not city!). Please come back again in the future. Maybe on your next visit you can spend a bit longer in the old town, and even try a pint in each of the pubs on the Quay, a great experience. I'm not so sure the trip from Poole back to Scotland will be as pleasant as your walk around our town. Remember you did get to see the "Twin sails bridge" actually open!!
Good morning Steve for a quick video great really showed the harbor but I wanted more think you should take that cruise next year your right Poole is Kool next to the tracks cheers 😘🌸🌻🌿☕️

Have you ever noticed how often you see people fishing off wharves and docks, but how rarely you ever see anyone catch anything? Great video - Lemon cake looked amazing!
As a local to Poole Harbour, I really enjoyed this video. It makes me want to leave the house and explore more because I don't do it enough. I think you'd love Brownsea island as its so peaceful and lots to see there. Poole Museum is also an interesting see for a rainy day.
