    This was the bender I picked up the day my first maker pipe shipment came in! Loved the stop as I’m not an expert bender. Also has that flared end of the handle to insert 3/4’ into the end as well

      The bender handle really is great for correcting over bent pipes.

    This accessory for Klein benders is great.. UNTIL you forget to remove it from the 45 or 30 and then a colleague goes “hey man, can I use your bender real quick?!” Then he goes to do a 90 on the floor and kicks the conduit PAST the hard stop device and kinks his pipe in half - and smashes the form of the orange plastic insert so that it never accurately does a 22.5/30/45/60 ever again.
    It’s suck a gimmick.
    Guys, just get good at bending pipe using the angle lines on the Sid Rif the shoe.. over time you’ll master your bender and develop a good muscle memory.
    Over the years I have turned out better/more accurate 90’s, offsets and whatever else without the orange insert consistency better with just practice.
    The orange insert is no longer accurate once it gets compressed too much.

    The digital gauge should be zeroed on the flat section so it has a reference surface for the angle.

    To minimize the ripple, pack the pipe with sand. It can still happen so bend slowly. This what we did when I worked for a steel company.

      That is too much work, learn how to do it correctly instead of packing conduit with sand all day.

    Thanks Jake. I just picked up the Ideal bender from Lowe's and I'm most likely going to return it and grab the Klein now, because why not have an extra piece?
    Actually quite helpful, thank you. 👍

      Plus those Ideal aluminum heads always break off at the shoe part if you accidentally drop it. Very annoying and not usable anymore. The klein bender are a little beefier especially at the shoe.

    I should add that while this was my first time bending conduit, I worked for a Klein distributor back in the late 90’s and finally had the excuse to buy one of these

    Great tool, I picked one up about a week ago. I still suck at making bends though, as idiot-proof as this tool is. Apparently they didn't account for my level of idiot-ness. 😵‍💫 Also, I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Klein digital level - my 59-year-old eyes just don't mesh well with those bubbles.

    • @MakerPipe

      Even with the tool it takes some practice for sure! I think I’m most excited for the digital angle read out. I think it’ll come in handy when working on projects. Thanks for the comment!

    Consistency and efficiency are the keys to EMT bending....your tools are half the job with the other half being skill/experience both sandwiching material right in.

    • @alexbaum5171

      Klein has some good stuff, for sure.. but their overall quality and quality control has gone to shit over the past couple of years..
      all of their new “innovative” multi-in-one tools are crap. Their step bits and hole saws are crap.
      Klein is a great example of the ol’ expression “they don’t make ‘em like they used to”.
      I’ve had over a dozen of my Klein tools fall apart on me I’ve the past 2 years.. from the cushion grip slipping under torque, NCVT’s not working after a few months, step bits going dull after 3-4 holes, carbide hole saws disintegrating while making a hole, bender stops (the subject of this video) loosing accuracy after a few bends, sockets getting rounded etc.. the list goes on.
      I emailed Klein with a detailed report of all of my tools that have failed.. showed them how my Greenlee, Ideal, Knipex, and Wera stuff has lasted for a decade.
      They promptly acknowledged that they have had complaints and are working on getting their QA back on track. A few days later, a box from Klein arrived with over $700 in brand new tools (everything that I detailed in my email to them) showed up at my door.
      I still haven’t opened anything up and just have learned to stop buying their shit.

    • @justinfriend9941
      @justinfriend9941 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can if you are in a pinch but the 1/2 won’t look good, the radius of the bends will look sloppy

  • @kstaxman2
    @kstaxman2 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The bend with the angle stop tool isn't 2 degrees off. It's reading 30.2 degrees off on the angle detector tool that's 2/10 of a degree.. 32 degrees would be 2 degrees off.. .2 degrees off is very good on a hand bender.

    • @MakerPipe
      @MakerPipe  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you are correct Frank. Thanks for the comment!

  • @alvilla701
    @alvilla701 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Not 2 degrees off, it is much less than that, only 2/10 off, which is considered perfect in conduit bending

  • @knighthonor44
    @knighthonor44 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Damn they have this for all hand benders? I want this. We don't use Klein Tools benders though

    • @MakerPipe
      @MakerPipe  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's a handy tool for sure. Unfortunately, it only works with Klein benders because it snaps into some specific slots that are cut into the bender head.

    It would help if you showed that your table was level, it was wobbly and cleary unstable. Key to getting these angle things accurate is to start with a level surface.

    • @MakerPipe
      @MakerPipe  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That's true when performing bends but I don't think checking the angle on an uneven surface affects the readout as long as the straight piece of conduit is flat. I Imagine it checks the angle relative to the rest of the piece of conduit otherwise electricians wouldn't be able to use it in all sorts of environments and different conditions. I could definitely be wrong though. Thanks for the comment

    Only nec/electrical code is no more than 360° between pull points.

  • @elijahperry5112
    @elijahperry5112 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    No there aren't any codes on what angles you use for offsets. You just can't exceed a certain amount between pull points, but being .2 off would not even be taken into effect on that

    • @jasondonahue4747
      @jasondonahue4747 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can't exceed 360. But most stop before 270. NEC 340.52.3766.171.47473 section B appendix C foot note A4 states we should look at code 210.35378.37204.33 while maintaining continuation from index C table 4-18 under the size 5 Times new Roman font stating f conduits get bent!
