- In this video you will learn the basics of pipe bending/conduit bending. We will be using 1/2" EMT
This is the trade name for electrical metallic conduit.
you will learn
calculations for a 22 degree offset bend
calculations for a 30 degree offset bend
calculations for a 45 degree offset bend.
calculations for a 90 degree bend
and learn from "THE TACO EATING ELECTRICIAN"
also you will find tips and tricks you may need in the field to make pipe bending easier for your self and others that may help you.
Bending pipe basics explained are designed for you to take into account you surroundings and the plan for your work ahead of you.
Tools we use are a 1/2" green lee bender and a pipe level more commonly called in the trade as a "no dog" so your offsets come out even every time.
your views help us train our vets!

Omg dude I can't thank you enough for making this video. I'm taking an electrical class at my local college and The prof spent an hour lecturing about this and the whole time It felt to me like he was speaking a foreign language and in just 12 min you managed to make things so much clearer.
Thats so awesome to hear. for an accredited course there needs to be so many hours spent so instructors tend to ramble to fill that void. im glad you got something from this video.
@@StarvingElectrician very helpful video just what I was looking for good job.
Wow man amazing for us beginners.. Very well explained

thank you for watching.
Conduit bending has been confusing for me, my journeyman hasn’t given me quite what I need for on-site learning and I’ve only had conduit action twice. After watching this I feel more confident with grabbing a stick and having a go at it!
- 8 mo apprentice
awesome. I have another, check it out
Great video. How do you determine what degree of bend to use?
Thank you.
thank you for watching!
Do the same principles apply for RMC and IMC?
no because the diameter is different.
Any tips on how to plan a overall basement outlet, switch, light , conduit job?
well one 20 amp bathroom, a plug circuit and a lighting circuit. all depends on how many lights and plugs and how big the load will be.
Where did you get the 3inch from for the offset
Different folks have different starting places on the conduit. It's weird but whatever works lol
not sure what you mean? i made up the measurement. if you are talking about from the starting point of the pipe to the mark on the bender thats different.
thank u bro.
You're welcome!
Official! Thanks homie! 🤙🏼
So you used 3 for your first Mark with the offset, can you normally pick a number to start? Basically where did you get the 3 inch mark from?
just a number i picked.
just subscribed and gave a thumbs up, great video. i was bending some 3/4'' conduit today and it was a little tricky trying to get the correct distance in the bend , so let's say i need to bend a 24" inch bend i would just mark 6" then the 24" inch mark?
exactly! I have another pipe bending video. take a look
11:09 Truth... Thank you
