I would recommend that you bolt it down and make a longer stronger handle I would use 25x50. I am going to be making a new better version of this soon that should be much more capable.
Keep in mind this is only suited to light wall rhs the way I built it with a hollow handle and not bolted down to something solid but address these two things and it will work a lot better. Misread the title , but I jumped on the vid when I read it briefly in suggested videos. So it does that job nicely. I was dreaming it was for pipe when I headed toward the story? Funny how big heavy rhs won't follow the same easy result when bending? The walls ripple and the width compresses . This little stuff is very cooperative and finishes fairly smooth.
True. Normally box sections need the inside wall to be crushed to help form the bend. I feel this method of manual bending is limited to 25x25mm section with a bigger lever. I have another cheap ebay bender that does a pretty good job on small tube from 10mm up to 25mm (with a longer handle than what is supplied) I have used it to make a mini buggy for my son and it works rather well.
Nope but interesting guess 🙂 it is actually the rear section of a lotus 7 chassis when built in half scale. If that has your interest then check out the cubman build playlist I used this piece in the first episode.
I like your bender, but I love the steel foot-plate on your workbench so you can lend your mass to that of the bench when you need to for heavier work! I'm gonna do that before I build the bender!
That was actually the gas bottle stand from when this table was a welding trolley. It was handy but was always getting stuck on things or cables getting stuck under it because I was so low. So it is now in the short bit section turns out it was a chunk of 8mm stainless so now a small piece of it is now the exhaust flange on the cubman micro car I built

Thanks. I'm glad that I was able to convince you with my actions. If I was going to build this again I would bolt it down and make the handle longer and out of something stronger. But I am going to make the next one different and a lot better so hopefully I can do it this month

I am going to be building a better version of this soon that will be much more capable but if you can't wait to see that it will have a solid shaft in the middle instead of the bearing and it will be solid mounted then the arm will be a lot stronger (probably 25mmx50mm).

@@UserName_no1 fair enough, Bench seats are awesome but generally he prefers to sleep on his shed bed than to sit at the table these days and that's ok.
Nice video but you need to give measurements you need to let us know the measurements and how are you bending it what are the measurements of drilling the holes and what band we get out of it but other than that it was an excellent video I liked it
Thanks. I decided not to give dimensions because it all depends on the weight plate that you use. I am planning to make a cheap bender in the next week or two that will utilize both the forming dies from the $200 ebay/amazon bender that Idid a video on last year and weight plates like this one. I will include all the dimensions for how to build that one because it will be made to suit any former you can find up to 25mm/ 1 inch both round or square if all goes to plan
I had difficulty seeing details in the video. The main bending arm is square, what were the dimensions? The material being bent looks square, is it? Dimensions? If square, it appears the round weight and material being bent have the same height. Is this correct? Is the height of the weight relative to bent material important? How would you adjust to bending something of larger dimensions? The inside of the bend might have the characteristic longitudinal dimple I have seen in other videos, but they used some disc between two "weights" to make the dimple. Am I imagining the dimple?
shedcorgi already has a metal framed "shed bed" but I did use this tool to build a small car chassis. go check out the cubman playlist if your interested
Quick and simple!! Id maybe go on and mount it, although we all have slightly different limitations in our work shops but I may have to make one of these soon, thank you!!
I recommend mounting it. If you want to use different sizes of die's you could mount a large bolt to the bench then it would be easy to change die's and definitely add a bigger handle.
Thankyou for your concern I decided that he was at a safe distance for the speed that I was drilling. but when I had to get the die grinder out I took him right out of the shed because there is not a safe distance inside the shed with the speed the die grinder throws chips
Yes it was 12x12mm square with a 1.2mm wall. It will work on round tube but it will probably crush the inside and outside of the bend. I have done another video on a $200 ebay/amazon bender that does a surprisingly good job of round tube. I hope this helps
Brilliant! Would this also work with round steel tubing? I want to build a motorcycle rear luggage rack. I’ll be using flux core welding. Is there any difference in ease of bending and welding for round vs square tubing? I’m a newbie to all of this, thanks so much for any guidance you can provide!
Seems like two of the weights and a third smaller welded int the middle would net you a bender also with a taller bearing. I like square tube if it can be bent right. Nice work.
Yeah he is a loveable little legged lad. The weights are good because they come in many sizes and they all have the same size hole in the middle so you can make the bender so they are interchangeable.
Generally I go to my local bearing shop. They also supply all my welding consumables, nuts, bolts and many industrial tools. It's amazing to have a physical shop to go to when I need something to keep a build going in 20 minutes instead of 10 business days

Do you think this would work with the metal channeling flipped so that it is sideways I want to build an arched mirror frame, and I am unsure how to bend the arch. I have extremely limited tools that I could go by a 50 pound weight from the thrift store. I’m just worried the over lapping edges will kink when it bends if it’s sideways.
@@amberfrazier575 if you are making it as a capping strip to go over the edge of the glass it should work fairly well it might close the gap a little but it should be easy enough to open again. Another option is to use a plywood that will fit tight inside the channel and make template slightly smaller than the mirror to allow for spring back of the bend (the ammout depends on the material you use and you need to experiment to work how much smaller). This type of bending works better if the handle goes down each side of the plywood and has a bolt joining them at the pivot point it saves you needing a second bearing making it even cheaper. Hope this helps
Scaffold is usually a lot tougher and small hydraulic benders can have trouble with it. This type of bender is suited to smaller dimensions (up to 25mm) you could build a really big version to bend bigger material but its best to just use a hydraulic bender

I tried bending a price of 20x20x2mm and just bent the handle. If you built it strong enough and have a long enough handle you might manage it but it will be hard to do. I recommend having someone else operating the handle
@@juscozcustoms Thanks mate, I'll definitely use this for small stuff but I'm probably going to use a hydraulic jack setup to get the lazy curves needed.
it will work on the 1/8 side but not on the 1 inch side so it could make a hoop or doing something like scroll work for old style gates but to bend a piece to be flat would be impossible with this style bender and you would be better off just cutting the piece out of sheet if that is what you where after

@@PerrieHulett thankyou. But why are you sad about the dog?
Really good, I'll be making one of those. Thanks for uploading.
Keep in mind this is only suited to light wall rhs the way I built it with a hollow handle and not bolted down to something solid but address these two things and it will work a lot better.
I am also planning to build a better bender in the next month using tube dies from the $200 ebay bender I tested a few months back and making it really practical.
Nice!!! When you got more brains than money, you create your own solution! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I seem to be a lifetime member of that club. 🙄
But it does help with creativity 😁
You can see the intelligence of the dog, it wanted to watch every move.
He is a very smart little friend, I can talk to him like my child but he actually does what I ask him to do.
He does watch what I do intently learning everything, I'm sure that he could even cook breakfast because he has watched me do it enough times but I feel the lack of opposable thumbs holds him back.
The dog is the very best part of this video! 🥰🥰🥰🐕
Dog is so loyal, thinks there's harm but won't leave his human ❤️
@@beingrealistic2562 he has always been timid like that. But he trusts me
You just earned a new subscriber. And I love your dog !!
Thanks for that. I also love him :)
My Hijet is deadset getting a Canopy and now I know how! Top Job!
You will be using a larger size steel for your frame probably 25mm so make sure the bender is bolted down and has a better handle probably 25x50 at least a meter long I am going to make a better version soon
your dogs eye expression are priceless
He has quite the personality.
Your right about the the dog. He is beautiful and hilarious!

Take care of your dogs eyes. Beautiful dog
@@chrishale8714 I am always cautious about eyes. Its hard to tell from the angle but corgi is a safe distance from the drill press.
I always send him out of the shed if I am welding or grinding because I also have to protect them gorgeous ears
Awesome ideA!!! I thought the dog was going to need I protection. He or she even the dog knows when to look away. Great 🐕🐶
Seems like it if u watch the dogs eyes thr smart
@@bertskert9678 shedcorgi is very smart. He was far enough away from the drill that he was safe but when the grinder came out he was sent out. Not just the sparks but the noise as well. I take very good care of my little buddy.
I didn't say u did g take care of him u can tell he's loved I was just being funny I thought. But I loved ur bender idea. Raising the roof!!!!!
I had a dog get FLash burn in his eyes from welding in same garage

So I just clarify the situation.
As for a doggo getting flash. Well that sucks I'm sure shedcorgi would do that if I let him in the shed when I'm welding because he can't help but to stare at the light. He does the same with down lights as well 🙄
Great idea. Love the dog🐾👍
Me too!!! 😁
Gracias, what a great idea. now I'm planning on bending some round electrical conduit using this idea.
I have another bender that came from ebay/Amazon that works really well on light wall round for $200 if your interested.
I made 2 videos abut it
awesome idea mate!!! thank you for uploading
All good. Glad you liked it.
The best part of this video are the looks on your dogs face.
he is a funny little fella
Is that a railing for a pedicab rickshaw? The type mounted in front of the passenger seating area to help folks board and de-board?
Nope but interesting guess 🙂 it is actually the rear section of a lotus 7 chassis when built in half scale. If that has your interest then check out the cubman build playlist I used this piece in the first episode.
I love the dogs expressions 🤣
#shedcorgi is a very intelligent doggo so it only seems right that he would question my actions. :)
@@juscozcustoms 👆
I like your bender, but I love the steel foot-plate on your workbench so you can lend your mass to that of the bench when you need to for heavier work! I'm gonna do that before I build the bender!
That was actually the gas bottle stand from when this table was a welding trolley. It was handy but was always getting stuck on things or cables getting stuck under it because I was so low.
So it is now in the short bit section turns out it was a chunk of 8mm stainless so now a small piece of it is now the exhaust flange on the cubman micro car I built
@@juscozcustoms That's cool man - a very good re-use as a flange, and serendipity in the "add-your-mass" foot-plate!
Now I wonder what else have you made that I've missed...
Well i have 150 videos so far and as soon as things settle down at home with the new addition I'll be making more.
But if you are interested I did a video in February 2021 about reaching 1000 subs and I went through the list of almost everything that I have built previously with links to all the videos in the description
Ok
Ok
My good and holy God...the best bender I have seen !!! I was skeptical before the bend and when he got to done..I was laughin !!! ...brother.. you are a genius
Thanks. I'm glad that I was able to convince you with my actions.
If I was going to build this again I would bolt it down and make the handle longer and out of something stronger.
But I am going to make the next one different and a lot better so hopefully I can do it this month
Damn that was was to easy to get good bends out of 😂 great video mate I’m gonna have to make one of these for sure
That's good to hear but I hope you can hold off for another week or two because I am going to make a new version that is even better and way more capable.
Apart from your awesome bender :) I love your canine work buddy (corgi?). What a sweetheart!!
He is great company but has some interesting ideas. Like walking breaks every 15 minutes and tennis ball games on the hour. Honestly if I listen to him to much I would never get anything done. 😆
@@juscozcustoms hahaha.
thanks for making this great video!
Thats ok
You Sir are a genius! I will be using this method to bed some square tubing for a mini bike build Im doing!
I am going to be building a better version of this soon that will be much more capable but if you can't wait to see that it will have a solid shaft in the middle instead of the bearing and it will be solid mounted then the arm will be a lot stronger (probably 25mmx50mm).
80 dollar bender after todays inflation
Not far off
And that puppy is a great deal better than a shoulderlookingboss!!! Good puppy!!! And the puppy trusted you to do it right! Great vlog, great subject, thanks for posting and sharing with us. I subbed and gave a high five, would have been a high ten, but, pup said it wasn’t necessary!
Thanks for the sub and I hope you enjoy the builds that I have already done but also some of the things that are planned for the future.
All hail shedcorgi... he is great company in the shedquarters,
Shop pupper says this is my chair!
#shedcorgi claims all the things. Even though he has an amazingly comfortable shedbed
Love the idea. Thanks for your efforts. Darlington, South Carolina USA
Thanks. Hope it's a good day in South Carolina
If you didn't understand him, your dog was waiting for his safety glasses. 😉
Thanks. I didn't have any that fit him so I sent him out of the shed before I started with the die grinder that would definitely throw the chips far enough to get him
Great little helper you got there!👍Mine doesn't get spooked by my power tools and instinctively knows when I'm about to drop something and knows when to get out of the way. But your next project should be a bigger chair😉😀
He is a great little buddy to have around, as for the chair well this one is corgi height... it is also the right height for the table and there are way cooler things that need to be built in this shed
@@juscozcustoms yeah, I wasn't eluding to the height of the chair but the width. The two of you were competing for space in the video.👍😁
Maybe he should come over to your place and bend it for you too.
Now you can make a "metal dog frame bed" That will be the best.
shedcorgi already has a metal framed "shed bed" but I did use this tool to build a small car chassis. go check out the cubman playlist if your interested
Dogo still should have had eye protection.
Thankyou for your concern
I decided that he was at a safe distance for the speed that I was drilling. but when I had to get the die grinder out I took him right out of the shed because there is not a safe distance inside the shed with the speed the die grinder throws chips
Ended up here on accident but glad I stuck around. Nice work Sir! 👊🏻
Thankyou.
Hope you will check out some of my other content before finding your way back.
Either way have a good day.
@@juscozcustoms yes Sir! I subscribed and will check out more later. Have a great one too!
Was that square tube, would that work on round tubing? Thank you
Yes it was 12x12mm square with a 1.2mm wall.
Nice and cheap, just my style. Nicely. Done mate
Thanks@@MarkWerner-Gillum it was a handy little tool while I was building the cubman microcar
Please post materials list for this. Ive never worked with bearings before.
Seems like two of the weights and a third smaller welded int the middle would net you a bender also with a taller bearing. I like square tube if it can be bent right. Nice work.
That is an interesting idea. I have found a bender for $200 that does a nice job on light wall tube if your interested.
Great vid I wonder if it could bend square aluminum tubbing as well.
Easier than bending steel I would think
I had to look at this again, just in case I need to build one. Thank you again.
Hope it helps and you manage to fabricate something cool
Thanks, never seen such a simple and cheap one.
The new one that im building at the moment is not quite as simple but it will be much more capable and not to difficult to replicate
The bearing press is pure gold.
It was definitely a press fit
Great video, love your dog. I was looking for things to use as a radius
Yeah he is a loveable little legged lad.
The weights are good because they come in many sizes and they all have the same size hole in the middle so you can make the bender so they are interchangeable.
Have you made a new model of this bender. You mentioned in the comments that you were working on it.
Soon. Its on the todo list along with finishing the cubman microcar and the OMG buggy. But definitely this year
very very cleaver man you are just wondering where you bought your bearings cheers
Generally I go to my local bearing shop. They also supply all my welding consumables, nuts, bolts and many industrial tools.
It's amazing to have a physical shop to go to when I need something to keep a build going in 20 minutes instead of 10 business days
thanks for your reply much appreciated wasnt sure thought it might be supercheap/repco i also prefer a physical shop usually no waiting and if its wrong drive straight back and it's fixed love ya channel cheers
Fair enough @@rodrocketoz3913 my local is a privately owned business so it's even better to support them.
Glad you like my content. Soon I'll be doing a bit more automotive things. As soon as I have properly finished a few other things like the buggy and the cubman
That's awesome! And all the different weights could provide different diameter bends.
Exactly. I do recommend a better handle though especially if you want to bend something larger like 1 inch box
Well hot diggity damn if that ain’t a hell of a good idea son. Thanks for sharing!
Heck yeah happy to share.
Glad you enjoyed it and I hope it helps you to fabricate something awesome
Awesome idea, simplest working bender around... your best friend is a star here though... hope he is doing well. Bests!
#shedcorgi is doing well. he makes an appearance in almost every video I make but I keep him away from the power tools these days
So well behaved! ❤️ Corgis...Nice bender also
Thanks
That's a great, simple, cost-effective solution for a DIY'er like me - thanks for sharing!
Thats good because DIYers and hobbyist where my target audience with many of my videos
Doubled up would it do tubes. Scaffold? Hood job uk love and prayers
Scaffold is usually a lot tougher and small hydraulic benders can have trouble with it. This type of bender is suited to smaller dimensions (up to 25mm) you could build a really big version to bend bigger material but its best to just use a hydraulic bender
Pure and simple genius!
Thanks.
Thanks. Just what I was looking for, and I had the bits already. Lovely dog by the way.
It sounded like you called it 'Corgie'. I can see that, but does in not have a bit of Blue Heeler in it?
He goes by the title "shedcorgi" and he is 100% pure cardigan corgi.
His colour is black and white brindle pointed which is why he looks a bit blue heeler.
I'm wondering if you stacked multiple formers you could do larger tube to make a boat trailer frame?
I tried bending a price of 20x20x2mm and just bent the handle. If you built it strong enough and have a long enough handle you might manage it but it will be hard to do.
I recommend having someone else operating the handle
@@juscozcustoms Thanks mate, I'll definitely use this for small stuff but I'm probably going to use a hydraulic jack setup to get the lazy curves needed.
Wow, nice cheap design. Would this work on a 1/8 inch thick by 1 inch A36 hot rolled steel solid flat bar?
it will work on the 1/8 side but not on the 1 inch side so it could make a hoop or doing something like scroll work for old style gates but to bend a piece to be flat would be impossible with this style bender and you would be better off just cutting the piece out of sheet if that is what you where after
@@juscozcustoms A hoop is my intention. Thanks for the quick reply.
no worries @@DCVIDE0S it should work fine so have fun fabricating
This is what I've been looking for. Thanks
