I was very lucky to have been married to a very good hairdresser, in the eighties he would bleach my hair gradually over a long afternoon and the the next day apply my chosen colour..sometimes we went for the bright Crazy Colour brands but my favourite were the red and copper tones by Loreal, so vibrant and shiney...he never burnt my scalp or made any hair break off..he passed away last year and I miss him greatly, not just for his hair skills 😊
I used to see a hairdresser who took my hair from brown to blond in one sitting. She said bleeding sores on my scalp were normal and everyone got them. I went back to my natural color because I couldn’t stand the pain when I combed my hair. I needed you then!
If the hair dresser is good, none of it will ever touch your scalp. I’ve had blonde and highlights my whole life and never gotten anything on my scalp. They wrap them in foil to protect your head. I can’t believe she told you that. Although I also had a hair dresser once that told me things about coloring. My current one told me that my last one had no clue what she was talking about. Sometimes you don’t even know who’s good and who’s not.

I have definitely learned to take fine sections from you, Hair Buddha. I trim my husband's hair. He has long, Jim Morrison style hair. Last night, after he had washed it clean, I sat him in a chair, clipped the top section out of the way and trimmed the under layer, section by section. It took quite some time. I then unpinned the top sections and trimmed those too, section by section. Making sure that the sections underneath were longer than the sections on top. He really loves it and is getting compliments on it. Though I must admit, I miss his longer hair! At least it will grow. The sectioning and layering does seem to have helped, though.
A few months ago I had this idea to bleach my hair at home. I'm so glad I found your channel before I tried it. I already got the information I needed but I subscribed for the commentary. Thank you!
When I went platinum from dyed bright red (with natural dark blonde to brown hair), I did it slowly over the course of 3 months. It worked and I lost no hair. A hairdresser even commented on how good the condition of my hair was and I have v fine hair, but a lot of it. If you have to do these things at home, take your time and be prepared to walk around with unwanted results for a bit as to let your hair and scalp rest/recover if it doesn't work in one go.

So true. You have to have the right skin tone and general coloring for blonde. My sister has very dark hair and eye brows with a yellow/orange pigmentation to her skin. She bleached her hair blonde, and it looked terrible. Much better with her beautiful dark brown hair!
Honestly, her hair was short enough that she could have just gotten a pretty platinum wig. If you don't have patience, JUST GET A WIG. Then you don't have to ruin your hair!
@@hatethatuloveme2365 Seriously? Wow that's insane! Why would you messed up your healthy hair if you want to be blonde for like 10 days for example...? Considering nowadays there is gorgeous synthetic looking wigs who aren't costing an arms and a legs!
I would love to see you do a reaction video to how people use color remover. It seems to be a great way to ruin your hair. A lot of people think it’s less damaging than bleach but it seems like it can make hair fall out.
I agree with you Sir , and I see your frustration 💔 I’ve learned a lot throughout your videos and I’m so glad because it prevented many mistakes 😂 I am grateful to you 🙏🏻🥰
Went to the hairdresser today to get my hair cut and highlights done. She sectioned off so nice and a lot of sections and I told her: Hair Buddha would be so pleased with you. She didnt know so I had to show her and now she is hooked as well😂😂😂❤
I don’t understand people with super dark hair trying to go platinum in one sitting. I am a natural level 4 golden brown and wanted to do pastels so I started my platinum journey. It took over 6 months of patience and hard work to get to platinum and my hair looks amazing because of it! It’s so much more worth it doing it slowly over time!
Literally face-palmed at the same time as HB when I heard the whole "dish soap and baking soda". I really wish people would arm themselves with knowledge before venturing to do their own hair...actually just arm yourself with knowledge period! Ignorance is dangerous!
None of them do a patch test!! They are too impatient!! They told me at the hairdressers that if i reacted to the patch test they wouldn't put the highlights in and that is experienced staff saying that!! I was lucky and all was ok to go forward.
It’s hard to believe that people used to spray lemon juice on their hair in the 70s and 80s to lighten it out in the sun. Her hair has to be dry as straw after the lemon juice, baking soda, and dish detergent.
I agree with you! It's CRAZY that a person can go into Sally's and buy 40 or even 50 volume cream developer...BUT...they wouldn't sell me an alkaline based extra firm perm for my virgin (currently) extremely resistant hair! I've purchased it many many times in the past and had great results but nowadays I can't even purchase it without a licence. BUT I can buy all the bleach and developer at 40 or higher strength!! Go figure!
Could tell he was stressed with this one I was watching the vein on the side just progress throughout the video 😂😂and we’re not even half way through the video yet.. gotta love it
Hair Buddah, you are so cool! I am a fairly recent subscriber and get the biggest kick out of your videos! I love the way you say "video" and "Tik Tok" (or however it is spelled). Your accent is fabulous! And you are so very knowledgeable! And, yes, I end all of my sentences with an exclamation point! Keep up the great work!
50 volume is ABSOLUTELY UNNECESSARY. I agree with the 20, and IF you INSIST on using higher, mix equal parts of 20 and 30 AT THE MOST. My hair is scarily resilient, so I have fallen asleep with bleach in my hair and just ended up with hair as white as my skin. My scalp was a bit sensitive, but I was incredibly lucky with that. I honestly don't understand why 40 volume is even available for public use. Ridiculous. Also. Just gotta say. WARM blonde looks beautiful in my opinion.
I do wonder if it's the same price though? I think you can only dilute it with another volume level for bleaching (so, like a 10vol of at least 50/50..) but I think conditioner works for coloring. So a single bottle could last a very long time when used that way.
Crikey. I’ve learned so much from watching your videos. Mainly not to do my hair myself and leave it to the professionals, however…. How do these people still do all these wrong things to their hair. It’s horrifying! 🤦🏻♀️
I know!🤦🏼♀️ Baking soda Dish soap Coconut oil Quick Blue 40% developer ARE ALL A BIG NOOO!!! And whatever you do, TAKE FINE SECTIONS!!! You'd think they'd never watched a professional hairdressers advice tutorial!!! It's crazy, I turn to professional tutorials for advice about anything and everything!
Right? I remember a time before the internet when you either had to do it yourself because you were too broke, spend the money at a salon, or... if you were lucky... you knew a hairdresser that would do it for less. All these young ppl have 1000s You Tube tutorial videos (like Hair Buddha) to help instruct you on what to do and what NOT to do. No excuse for this nonsense nowadays.
Scary isn't it?. What shocks me is that they wreck their clothes!! I go to the Salon too so that i get the right look, experienced colourists and heaven forbid there is a problem, it can be solved there and then. These guys just go to the chemist or a supplier and get the goo but don't know what they are doing.
One thing I've learnt from watching your videos. Is I'm always going to a professional to get my hair coloured. Also my mother has moved up here with me, since dad passed. She has short very fine hair. Who has always managed to find a hairdresser to perm her hair in Sydney. Tsk tsk Here on the Gold Coast, where she lives now with me, they're all telling her no. They don't do them anymore, and explained why. Except one. Guess who? STEFAN'S..🤣🤣🤣
Does the perm actually work, or has it always caused a lot of breakage she is blind to? I could see shortening the time significantly and her hair being short enough that the feeling of it/damage doesn't matter. She's from the era of extra hold hairspray, not smooth and silky.
I have short hair, and find it quite difficult not to overlap with bleach on my regrowth or to not get overtoning on the ends. I use a porosity equalizer (not sure if it's making a difference, but worth a try). I've also started using a bond builder in my bleach mix (along with the one that's already in Blondme). I only ever use 20vol. I don't always get it right, but any success I have I credit to HB (and a couple of other youtubers) 🙂
Same ppl who say they dont want to ruin their hair with (more)bleach often use the combo of dishwashing liquid, lemon juice and baking soda. So expecting them to know anything about ph levels is pointless. They propably think ph is "pink hue"😂
Bleach wash is an amazing choice for many situations. Sadly I guess people assume it's not strong enough. For my hair it's actually enough to lighten my roots to platinum.
Thank you for this! Needed this video to have a more informed decision on going blonde!!!! More power to your channel! Please keep doing vids like these! 🙏
I was platinum blonde at age 17-22. It looked amazing, but was difficult to maintain and in the end I believe all the bleach ruined my hair follicles permanently. I already have naturally fine hair, and ever since using that bleach, my hair has gotten more fine and breaks very easily. I suggest if you do go blonde, be aware it could change your hair health forever.
I'm a hairstylist and I can 100% assure you, bleaching your hair does not damage it forever. Once the bleached hair grows out, you have your natural hair again
@@Prairiewench maybe not if you do it once, but multiple times over several years... yes it does. Hair Buddha even said it does. Peroxide, chlorine ...any bleach... are toxic chemicals. Thats why/how it changes your hair color, and, also why when you apply it to your skin, or swim in a pool, it burns your skin and eyes. Toxins (even subtle ones) will change your hair and skin on a molecular level with as little one to many uses. If you are not aware of this, you should take a class that specifies in chemical allergens/ reactions on humans.
Hair Budda, you will be happy to know Sally's doesn't sell 50 volume developer.....where I live anyway....Love your videos by the way . Go to a professional. I would hope that she'd would at least have tried a bleach bath instead of all that crap. I managed to bleach a friend's coarse black beard hair with 10 volume. It took a couple of rounds, but it was fine and didn't go through all that shit.
I totally understand not wanting to pay a stylist to go platinum, but at least recognize that there's a good reason they charge so much and take so long to do it! And there's so much good information out there from actual professionals, it blows my mind that so many of these people completely ignore all that and instead waste time, money, and damage their hair trying weird home remedies from random people🤯
I would love to go blonde, having been Ginger all my life. To be totally honest, I couldn't be bothered with all the regrowth, and I am really happy with the condition of it. And I think her eyebrows need sorting out too.
My best friend at school was ginger, now we're older her hair looks a beautiful blonde shade as her grey hair has paired up with her ginger. When it comes to greying, gingers get the last laugh, trust me on that!
I've done it... regrowth is a pain in the A. If you ever do it, don't go traditional blond. Go a strawberry blond instead (or try a light pinkish blond... that's what mine is right now and it looks great with the regrowth!)... That way the regrowth kinda will compliment that hair color rather than look like an orange stripe down your part. trust me on that LOL.
@@KatherineRoseArt I prefer the term Light Ginger, but I see where you're coming from. I'll be honest, I'm 58 now, I'm at the age where It should be all about me, but I can't be bothered. I'll see how my hair changes naturally and go from there xx
@@KatherineRoseArt yes of course, I don't even know why I said grey- we all know it's white! Doh!🤦🏼♀️ Either way, it looks absolutely beautiful on my friend, most she ever has to do is put a semi permanent toner on, (one with no developer like colour fresh- NOT colour charm God forbid!) whereas I have to suffer all kinds of witchcraft and alchemy to not have that revolting 'salt and pepper' look that mother nature forced upon me.😖
Hey Buddha! I think Daneris Targarian form the Game of Thrones is giving everyone the platinum blond hair craze! She has that hair, so, everyone wants it! and now with the new Targarian GOT offshoot series (they all have platinum blond hair!) the craze has intensified! For myself, I prefer Platinum jewellery to platinum blond hair. I usually do my hair (in the salon) in coppers and reds (looks good on me too!), or do henna at home. I love your videos! And I have learned so much from you about bleaching (which I will never inflict on my hair, but it's still interesting to know how it works) and colouring. Thank you so much from Canada!
They have developer for sensitive scalps, my hairdresser uses on me and I have never had sores or burns on my head. I know ION makes a sensitive scalp developer and powder bleach without amonia. I am sure there are other products out there as well.
I went to a hairdresser of 25 years experience and I had hair down to my waist and it was dark blonde at the time and she over bleached it and it broke off OK.... she took no responsibility at all and no apologies coz she was busy doing her friends hair....my hair is now shoulder length and still falling out after 2 months and I hate it!!! Love from Melbourne Australia xx
I had a natural platinum friend and was so jealous as a kid (8yo). I thought I'd do that when I got older. Never did. My hair is fine, plenty of red undertones, I dye it to a deeper brown/ash/mahogany tone now (early grays 😭). If I want blonde, I wear a wig. 🤔
I have tons of grays. It started at 16. Unfortunately, reds go gray faster.. so nearly all my red undertones I used to have are gone now. How do you like the mahogany mixed in with the brown? What do you use for your coloring? I'm thinking about testing out trying to add warmth back into my hair with a toning process. I'm not trying to go the normal route of covering all the gray.. but leave it in. A 6-10vol wouldn't touch it.. but would deposit on my other brown strands and hopefully highlight the differences that are left. I've never tried anything like that before though, so I'm slowly looking for a good, natural color mix.
@@cetkat I go all over with color, then touch up when I feel it's gone too far 🤣. It's a 20 vol developer. And what you said about the red graying out makes so much sense. I use a mail-order dye kit you can buy online. The color specialist mix it up to match what I like. It's definitely harsher than what you're considering, but it does it's job well. If I don't love the results, they can mix up a different color, but usually has to be darker for good results (color doesn't lift color). I tried box dye once and never again - I'd rather mix my own or buy from a specialist.
@@W1shonafish Is the specialist part of the mail-order company? Or do you take the colors to someone to mix? Who do you order from? I don't know too much about dyes, but it seems like the difference between toners, semi, demi, and permanent ones are part the amount of pigment, and then how strong of a developer you use. For gray's, they use something like "NN".. so a super pigmented permanent color. Because regular won't cover right. I might be completely wrong.. but it seems like you could make a toner permanent, and a semi/Demi/and low pigment permanent a toner - by swapping the developer rules?? I've actually thought about mixing two different levels together. One with more red that's one level lighter, then another with less red/different shade that's my natural level. Because I do still have some natural variation.. some strands are lighter than others.. so the lighter strands could take in the stronger red tone.. and it wouldn't turn everything red. The darker one would act on both and adjust things. Maybe?
@@W1shonafish There was a time I did box dye, and I loved it.. it was before the gray and basically one shade lighter than my natural hair color. The formula was perfect for me, so I got really lucky. It saved me a ton of money too when I added honey highlights to it once. Instead of a whole dye job, I had the base color done already.. so the hairdresser only had to do foil highlights. I did tell her about the box dye.. but basically.. she just had to get it one more level lighter and at an easy color for my hair. I think the service was only $40.. though I did tip well. But that was my "perfect color" at that age. I still think it was a much better match for my complexion. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't work now, but I got lucky then.
@@cetkat the specialist is part of the mail order company - eSalon. I try not to drop names or anything, but if you're interested that's who I use. I don't know much about it myself, but it's always turned out well for me and I like it. I know there's some other good mail order possibilities but I've been using them for about 3 years now.
The first thing I've learned... 1. don't buy box dye 2. Dark hair goes orange before blonde 3. Get hair dying products from a hairdresser or specialised shop (lots in North London uk). I used to use a specific blonde product but the amount you get.... means you're not able to rinse and redo ... cos you've got no product left!! Next time I rebleach I'll be going to the specialist shop and getting a tub of stuff!!
I started to mix equal amounts lightest beige blonde (T11 ) with T18 and 10V developer and it gives me lovely natural blonde hair. I love CT14 color tango but sometimes it’s out of stock and it’s not as strong as the T11-18 combo so I alternate between the two and they’re pretty much the same result. Also, I have dark natural hair so it took me many shades and several months to get where I am now and I’m absolutely happy with the outcome!
I recently had a hair fail. BUT we were able to fix it. First time around we missed a few spots and some areas were too orange. Second time we put bleach on the dark spots we missed and then when I was close to being done did the orange parts. Came out pretty even. It was the underside of my hair which we dyed with iroiro plum. It looks pretty good now. Is it perfect? No. But I do like my result.
Common sense is really in short supply these days. It's amazing to see this happen over, and over, and over again! I hope you don't actually have a stroke one of these days 😉😀
My natural hair color is much lighter than this young lady and even I wouldn't go that light with my own hair. I appreciate what you are trying to teach people about using chemicals on their hair and the true process involved.
It took me 9 weeks to go from black to a golden blonde using 6 colour removers and 4 boxes of hair lightener’s I don’t regret the colour but I really I regret how damaged my hair is it’s cost me more to try and get the condition back to how it was before I’ve learned the hard way it’s still long but very fragile when wet
I don't do this at home, always at the salon, expensive, yes but the skills and experience and problems can be solved there and then . Also gowns and towels so my clothes don't get wrecked! i don't bleach mine, just highlights as a treat now and again.
Thank you Buddha I tell people oil especially heavy oils block bleach some won't listen it ended badly. I was trained by a hairdresser when I was a teen pro tip don't wash your hair for a few days let it get oily before bleaching your scalp will thank you. 1 Don't use 40 volume developer it's like drain cleaner on your scalp 2 Let your scalp rest after bleaching 3 Use another toner instead of Wella T18 because the Wella is loaded with ammonia and burns like hell I speak from experience 3 If anyone tells you a bleeding scalp is normal "their lying"
I've heard that bleach eats through the oil - so that's not a good way to block the bleach if you don't want it to touch that section. I can see how it would make solid application much more difficult though and cause a ton of missing spots. Is that actually what he/you mean?
@@cetkat Yup, heavy oils like mineral oil etc are the problem ones and cause dark patches to be left behind in hair that was previously died dark colors the main problem is when people saturate their hair with them, the roots would bleach because of the scalp heat Removing dark colors I use hair dye remover (Color Oops my fav) or a mix of equal amounts of 10 or 20 vol developer with hair conditioner or the same mix with shampoo if you want on the dyed parts it works.keep your head covered with a shower cap or plastic bag to keep it warm, afterward you'll get a more even bleaching. Sorry this is so long
@@RavenVargas27 That's helpful to know. Thanks! About the color remover and bleaching.. I saw this one Guy Tang video where there was a weird interaction. He bleached out the color.. and the bottom was white & the mids not quite there.. so he used something like color oops. It helped the mids, but the bottom turned green. He had no idea why. Bleaching again got rid of it. So the order matters.
@@cetkat Exactly some dyes react badly with bleach. I just stripped most of a black dye left a gross film on my hair (Color Crazy) I got from the Dollar Tree store with "Dawn dish soap and Santa Cruz organic Lemon juice" mix left it on under a shower cap for over an hour it's now medium brown and I'm happy

Even if you have long hair you can still wear a wig :)
A hair dresser once said this to me.
Its pathetic to use a wig when u have perfectly good hair .. foh
@@hatethatuloveme2365 Seriously? Wow that's insane! Why would you messed up your healthy hair if you want to be blonde for like 10 days for example...? Considering nowadays there is gorgeous synthetic looking wigs who aren't costing an arms and a legs!
Seriously! I have long hair, but rock wigs so that no chemicals touch my hair. I like to change my hair too often.
@@Ash-ol3ji This is the way to go :)
I would love to see you do a reaction video to how people use color remover. It seems to be a great way to ruin your hair. A lot of people think it’s less damaging than bleach but it seems like it can make hair fall out.
The idea of rinsing for 5 minutes is so wasteful--I only did it once
Thank you! you r really helpful i learned more from this video than from the hair school i went too...😊😊😊❤❤❤
I agree with you Sir , and I see your frustration 💔
I’ve learned a lot throughout your videos and I’m so glad because it prevented many mistakes 😂
I am grateful to you 🙏🏻🥰
I love your passion. ❤
I LOVED her hair before, the platinum on the brown, looked so cool.
LET IT GOOOOOOOO! LET IT GOOOOOO! 🎶 I'm suprised her noodle hair didn't fall out!🧐 Happy Monday HB💞💞💞💞
Went to the hairdresser today to get my hair cut and highlights done. She sectioned off so nice and a lot of sections and I told her: Hair Buddha would be so pleased with you. She didnt know so I had to show her and now she is hooked as well😂😂😂❤
all hail the BUDDAH...I love your laugh!...
Great video like always! Learning new things from every video you upload 😁
I'm so happy if you learn
I don’t understand people with super dark hair trying to go platinum in one sitting. I am a natural level 4 golden brown and wanted to do pastels so I started my platinum journey. It took over 6 months of patience and hard work to get to platinum and my hair looks amazing because of it! It’s so much more worth it doing it slowly over time!
It's laziness. The convenience of fast food has ruined us.
@@carmen4479 Yes, everyone expects instant results.
Literally face-palmed at the same time as HB when I heard the whole "dish soap and baking soda". I really wish people would arm themselves with knowledge before venturing to do their own hair...actually just arm yourself with knowledge period! Ignorance is dangerous!
Rather it is stupidity that is dangerous. That is why they decide to act ignorantly.🤦
None of them do a patch test!! They are too impatient!! They told me at the hairdressers that if i reacted to the patch test they wouldn't put the highlights in and that is experienced staff saying that!! I was lucky and all was ok to go forward.
Yes! Preach HairBuddha! WHYYYY 50 volume?!? omg that is seriously gonna hurt someone :(
Man, I feel your pain. I am sorry that you have to endure such torture. I root for you, no pun intended. Saluti dall'Italia

We have a very cute bearded man very angry with Sally's and venting to us. lol...
Love your videos!!!
It’s hard to believe that people used to spray lemon juice on their hair in the 70s and 80s to lighten it out in the sun. Her hair has to be dry as straw after the lemon juice, baking soda, and dish detergent.
We did use lemon juice. We also used a weak salt water solution to set beachy waves
Just found you! Ur so wonderful! So kind! Ive never done my hair myself! This is why u go to a pro!
I’m scared of baking soda now 🤣 even for cooking!!!!!

I know!🤦🏼♀️
Baking soda
Dish soap
Coconut oil
Quick Blue
40% developer
ARE ALL A BIG NOOO!!!
And whatever you do, TAKE FINE SECTIONS!!!
You'd think they'd never watched a professional hairdressers advice tutorial!!!
It's crazy, I turn to professional tutorials for advice about anything and everything!
I think they're happy to ruin their hair and scalp for tiktok likes!
Sometimes I wonder if they do this on purpose just to post content.
I actually really like her hair before she dyed it it looked so healthy and for me the messy curly hair I like that look
Who decided that baking soda and dish soap was a good way to remove color? A bleach wash, or at the Very least a dandruff shampoo will help.
Or Prell Shampoo over a few weeks.
I really liked her hair before she bleached it. looked good on her
The sound those rings are making is so satisfying 😌
One thing I've learnt from watching your videos.
Is I'm always going to a professional to get my hair coloured.
Also my mother has moved up here with me, since dad passed. She has short very fine hair. Who has always managed to find a hairdresser to perm her hair in Sydney. Tsk tsk
Here on the Gold Coast, where she lives now with me, they're all telling her no.
Thumbs UP👍 as always for the Warning of the high Bleach Valume and all the advice..
Every time hair Buddha starts ranting about coconut oil I have a laughing fit 😂
The disdain in his face is REAL hahaha
STOP PUTTING COCONUT OIL 🤣
They make me know I've learned alot over the last 45 yrs in the industry. Of course if I hadn't I wouldn't be doing it anymore!! Thanks for the boost of confedence!! I totally agree with your commentary. Thanks again... love my profession 💋💋💋💋

Go to a professional. I would hope that she'd would at least have tried a bleach bath instead of all that crap. I managed to bleach a friend's coarse black beard hair with 10 volume. It took a couple of rounds, but it was fine and didn't go through all that shit.
Your face expression is on point! 🤣
I totally understand not wanting to pay a stylist to go platinum, but at least recognize that there's a good reason they charge so much and take so long to do it! And there's so much good information out there from actual professionals, it blows my mind that so many of these people completely ignore all that and instead waste time, money, and damage their hair trying weird home remedies from random people🤯
Yes, but it drives views for their channel--makes me think they do crazy, unstable stunts for views
@@Little-Sparrow We don't "Grey" ... we go white. xD Hence why it starts to look blond-ish.
Doh!🤦🏼♀️
Either way, it looks absolutely beautiful on my friend, most she ever has to do is put a semi permanent toner on, (one with no developer like colour fresh- NOT colour charm God forbid!) whereas I have to suffer all kinds of witchcraft and alchemy to not have that revolting 'salt and pepper' look that mother nature forced upon me.😖
I learn so much with the fails.
Love from Melbourne Australia xx
such a beautiful person, I love her before hair. But she can have any kind of hair, lucky
"Please call 911. I'm having a stroke." 🤣🤣🤣 Same.
I know there's some other good mail order possibilities but I've been using them for about 3 years now.
love your channel
Hmmm, lemon juice on scalp burns? 🥴😬
The first thing I've learned... 1. don't buy box dye
2. Dark hair goes orange before blonde
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Please call 911 Im having a stroke
Lord, I wasn't going to comment but when I got to the 8:52 mark ...

I LOVE LOOOVE YOUR VIDEOS 💗
Thank you so much
Thank you Buddha I tell people oil especially heavy oils block bleach some won't listen it ended badly.
@@cetkat
Yup, heavy oils like mineral oil etc are the problem ones and cause dark patches to be left behind in hair that was previously died dark colors the main problem is when people saturate their hair with them, the roots would bleach because of the scalp heat
Removing dark colors I use hair dye remover (Color Oops my fav) or a mix of equal amounts of 10 or 20 vol developer with hair conditioner or the same mix with shampoo if you want on the dyed parts it works.keep your head covered with a shower cap or plastic bag to keep it warm, afterward you'll get a more even bleaching.

Exactly some dyes react badly with bleach. I just stripped most of a black dye left a gross film on my hair (Color Crazy) I got from the Dollar Tree store with "Dawn dish soap and Santa Cruz organic Lemon juice" mix left it on under a shower cap for over an hour it's now medium brown and I'm happy
I remember back in the day id bleach my hair. I had strangers tell me they thought I’d look good with dark hair.. so that’s what I did, I went back to my real hair. I have found very few brunettes make believable blondes.
I think ( generally) of you were born blonde you might be able to pull it off. If not prolly not.
Brunettes are beautiful!
I couldn't agree with you more about 40 and 50 volume developer. Why is it that we can buy that, but at the same time we can't buy Olaplex #1 and #2 over the counter. What's that about?
