If battery matters a lot to you personally I have a few tips. You'd be surprised how much the total wattage lowers by simply capping the fps and lowering the resolution on it's own. If you cap it to around 40 (For most people totally playable) You're taking away a HUGE burden on the device. You don't really need to lower the HZ because the panel will do that for you if you lower the fps (VRR). Also, Asus/AMD has updated the firmware on this device increasing performance at lower TDP ranges a LOT. This also means battery life will improve as well because you can play games at lower TDP ranges.
Well, he was using FSR at its fullest so resolution was not the problem but yeah, i prefer going 30 fps at handheld (i got usted to it after a few hours) and send that power to GPU and settings
imagine having capability of atleast 5x switch, but the most graphically impressive game is a shitty gacha games mobile game still has a long way to go

Business-wise, the only games that work on mobile is free multiplayer games with “in-app purchase” option. So yeah dev read the data and triple AAA games just a waste of money to develop for mobiles.

I have a Switch and a Steam Deck, and I'm getting the ROG Ally as a complement to them. I love handhelds, and I usually play on a couch, in my office, or in bed, where I have somewhere to be plugged in. This makes the battery life a mostly non-issue for me. I think this will be perfect for me for playing games the Deck can't play. I don't believe it will replace my Steam Deck, but it may be my go-to for a lot of games due to how good its performance is.
Same for me and I also view this device as something I can use for Xbox PC Gamepass without having to rely on streaming those games or playing them solely on my desktop PC
The AOKZOE A1 Pro is a contender too. It's IGG campaign just got extended for a week, so the early-bird pricing is still decent. Has a bigger screen, more RAM, and huge battery compared to Ally, but only 60Hz.
don't forgot: less offiical support, bad warrenty or fimware updates and also not the community support mostly only Steamdeck and rog ally. Buy the Rog its way better.

As someone who's been using handheld PCs for a while now, I realize that battery life is not that big of an issue. I thought I would be gaming for long hours which isn't the case even on trips. May be on flights or as a passenger but 65w power banks are cheap now or the plane has outlets. Most PC games that takes hrs to play require mouse and keyboard which means you're likely tethered/docked.
PLEASE make it just like you ungraded the redmi phone, would be really cool to see, especially upgrading battery & since it can go above ~45W, we can add better cooling or smth and take the 120 fps advantage, will be waiting for that :)
I gotta say this is one of my favorite channels first of all. what if you wounderful people tried something like a light version of windows Revios or GhostSpectre. Or even better, Steamos or CachyOs (Arch based) and tried some diffrent kernels with diffrent schedulers. it might give you some more room to tweak the system :)
Why bother putting it to 1080p and using fsr ultra performance? That's quite misleading since internally the game is rendering at a much more resolution...
if i ever had this I would buy packs of powerbanks and bring them with me, and use them with PD for ultimate portability, if one runs out, i could just swap with another one

Pc games are more demanding, you have to run games at full tilt to get ok performance. It is just an issue in general, you can’t run aaa games at 5 watts, look at the iPhone 15 pro.

The reason also is because the Z1 Extreme/7840U has a massive CPU side as well. It's almost as fast as a desktop Ryzen 7 7700 or laptop i7-13700H. So it is not as laser focused as it could be for gaming. 4 core 8 threads would've been better. And also x86 chips are just more versatile as they pack a far wider instruction set compared to ARM and that makes x86 less efficient in many cases. This CPU also supports AVX-512 which is why the PS3 emulation is so good!

Rather ROG Ally Z1 Extreme more premium and hardware like better speakers and cooling system for only 699 USD at any time. Plus i have Asus service center at my city.
I think you should've played older pc games at high or max settings just to show that this is more powerful than a 2014 desktop pc. And as for the battery consumption, it isn't really a problem for me because I always connect it to a TV, so I play cuphead and other indie games on it while it's charging. I connect it via HDMI. And I then connect Xbox controllers and play cuphead 2 player coop. I think the device shines this way, cause when not home I just take the device with me to work and plug it into the monitor and play games while it's charging or plugged in. So I don't think ASUS meant it to be a mobile" device. It's more a powerful gaming machine that you can fit into a small bag and can take everywhere with you. And yest if you want you can play in handheld. I also think it's good to plug it into non smart TVs and start watching movies and TH-cam and other things. I think these machines are more for indie games rather than triple A games. But when it comes to old and very old pc games, it's a champ! I mean you can play black ops 2 on it! At max settings! At 60fps! So....... That's impressive to me.
This device is only cool to me as being able to play couch co op with my wife and child, I already do this with the deck and it does work good, but with the ally it would be a big improvement for docked gaming, otherwise the deck is just a better portable device with good battery life.
At the moment, the support is going to suck for this device unlike the steam deck, literally a Google search away from the most complex hiccups. I'm still picking this up though, need some personal comparisons between it and the steam deck

I believe you can get attachments on top of your RoG Ally that can attach external batteries, such as power banks, which can with the right circumstances double the battery life or more Might be worth checking out
I agree with this. But the only similar device on the market with an oled screen seems to be the Aya neo pro air and that's way weaker a machine. I'm personally fine with a high refresh rate for games like diablo

It's not dubbed, he speaks them himself. He explained before that this is why the English channel is being updated very slowly compared to the Mandarin channel, because there's alot more work that needed to be put into the English video from ensuring high accuracy of translation, re-record and re-edit the graphics and the video and other aspects.
what about after sales support? such as replaceable buttons and joysticks, ASUS' Armory Crate updates, etc? If this don't last long, I'll just go to Steam Deck. Also, can we turn off that RGB lights in joystick? that still consumes power.
It’s has a similar amount of power as M1 chip. I have an iPad Pro with an m1 so it is nice to see these benchmarks. I don’t really need another m1 tier device lol, I bought that 2 years ago, so I probably won’t buy the ally. I have a steam deck, but it sorta chokes on any sorta demanding game I just get crashes on Spider-Man miles morales when we slinging and a lot of crashes forza horizon 4 and 5. I’ll probably only upgrade my steam deck when Alienware makes the Alienware ufo or in the future with a more powerful chip If that ever comes out or the switch 2.
@@Ridku13 The z1 extreme runs it at low settings at 720p upscalled to 1080p. Not great tbh. Doesn't look better than those mobile korean gatchas when you push it that low. Especially the textures, they look more blurry than pubg mobile.

There's a 7640u with 6 cores and better gpu performance than the Z1. I have no idea why ASUS didn't go for that in the entry level version.
Soon you can have an option to disable cpu cores via armoury crate. Asus says they're working on it on a livestream.

you should try undervolting it then running it at lower than 15 watts and see if it gets better performance

Still not better than the deck below 10watts, games at 9w are now almost playable on the ally instead of completely unplayable

It’s has a similar amount of power as M1 chip. I have an iPad Pro with an m1 so it is nice to see these benchmarks. I don’t really need another m1 tier device lol, I bought that 2 years ago, so I probably won’t buy the ally. I have a steam deck, but it sorta chokes on any sorta demanding game I just get crashes on Spider-Man miles morales when we slinging and a lot of crashes forza horizon 4 and 5.
I’ll probably only upgrade my steam deck when Alienware makes the Alienware ufo or in the future with a more powerful chip If that ever comes out or the switch 2.

@@Ridku13 The z1 extreme runs it at low settings at 720p upscalled to 1080p. Not great tbh. Doesn't look better than those mobile korean gatchas when you push it that low. Especially the textures, they look more blurry than pubg mobile.
