With how little coverage Outward gets and how even less youtubers cover the game I can always appreciate the knowledge that gets put out there in a simple to understand format instead of delving into the Wiki and try to understand things yourself. Thanks for the work you do Sheen 👍
So true man, I remember stumbling across the game around release on PS store with my brother and thinking we could have a lot of fun playing it together as it looked like a very interesting game, long story short, we got our asses handed to us, I remember that we sold everything that was in Cierzo to be able to pay our tribe debt or wtv then proceeded to go out there and avoid even mere bandits because of how weak our characters were and how bad our understanding of the game was, as there was no wiki at this time, and pretty much no information on it. I remember wondering how tf I was supposed to get 500, 600 silver for skills when I had trouble killing anything and didn't really understand the quests lmao. Fast forward to now, I started playing again, with a little bit of internet help and goddamn am I enjoying it, this game is such a gem and I'm glad that people started realizing that with, I believe, the release of Definitive Edition. It still has its flaws, don't get me wrong, as some things are unnecessarily hard and others become incredibly trivial once you figure them out, like making money and the survival mechanics for example, except corruption, all my homies hate corruption, except if you pick Hex Mage.
@Doumic Bolduc I had a similar start as well lol.. Me and a friend started the game out, wondered how the heck we were supposed to make that much silver to pay for the debt/buy anything that would help use survive against bandits (like weapons & armor), except we took a turn towards vedival fortress I think (castle next to the beach) my friend thought it was a normal dark souls rpg I guess and pressed the "yes I want to see what's in the castle", and we got thrown into chains underneath the castle and were stuck for a while wondering what we had to do to get out (we had next to no knowledge at the time lol). Until we decided to jump into the hole that's there next to the jail cells and we got washed up on the beach battered bruised and our gear lost inside the castle (although we didn't know it was and assumed it was permanently gone). So we lost all our gear & it was a terrible start for anyone new to the game (at least for me) who thought everything they had found and all the silver gained through that short span was all gone and I nearly dropped the game out of frustration.
@Tobias Rex lmaoo yep, been there, done that couple years ago, only difference was we managed to find our gear and get out, honestly my first, and I think only iirc, time getting trapped in Vendavel's prison was something that actually made me want to play Outward because it made me realize how deep it went in a way. I still couldn't really get into it back then though, really had no idea how to upgrade my character lol
I like how you go with "fashion & character" over "MinMax" in this series. It highlights that the runner-ups to the top tier are still great and due to their special quirks can be nice to build around. Just wished you would have shown the iconic Tsar combo for nostalgia purposes: Predator leap > knockdown > execution. It is strong, but more importantly: It looks cool.
MinMax obviously works really well and gives you something super strong. But there will always be other builds that are fun and interesting. Sometimes unique weapons feel better than simply the OP options. Glad you feel the same way. I also completely forgot about the tsar combo when recording. Would have looked epic for sure.
I feel a bit happy about a crescent weapon beeing on a top tier list in one of your videos. They deserve some recognition. I didn't even consider using Grind with totems. In hignsight that seems like the intended use. Maybe I'll try a ritualist run in earnest with this in mind some day. I never really got into that playstile before, but I like the bard Idea (mabe with range drum grind and a ghost parallel switch in close combat or something to include all the "musical" sounds in a fight.^^
The crescent weapons were something I overlooked but I see their potential more than ever now. And Grind is just... different. Hard to say why, but it only works with a select few builds. Ghost parallel still seems better with totems even though Grind is kind of build for it.
I believe the Devs could've given more weapons the "enchantment" treatment like they have with the iron weapons that increase their damage by almost triple their base damage while making them unbreakable, or the "Crumbling Anger" enchantment for the Zagis Saw.
Just got the parts I need for the taunasaur great axe. It's gonna be hard to put Worldedge down for a while but I'm excited to see what the extreme bleed is like
Extreme bleeding is underwhelming unless you are fighting humans. Just because monsters with high health have so much health you don't see it do much. But it can still be very fun to have and get you out of tight spots as well which is nice.
@SheenShots won't lie, immediately switched back to worldedge. What i DID think about doing was making a 1-handed Taunasaur axe with a Horror shield. Get some of that double-status action!
Couldn't miss it, Sheen has been irreversibly changed, he's an axe user now Chat always wins I also love marble greataxe, the way it looks - it's so pretty
I think I would probably have liked it more if I used it with that armor. I was always a bit afraid of doing that though because of the higher stamina cost. Might need to give it a try anyway.
@SheenShots that's very true it's high stamina use, but for me, most fights outside of big bosses they are dead way before you run out. Took out the rust Lich in about 30s. And the ??? Knight in about 10s. BTW, thank you so much for your videos. Gives me new love for this game and great new build ideas.
Berg area has so many best of their class weapons that you can get early, other regions pale in comparison. Almost every playthrough i spend most time in that area before getting my build going
Most of the marble weapons are really nice I agree. The buffed attack speed feels very nice and they all have decently high physical damage and impact.
you can look up older versions of items by going on the wiki and search through the history. In this particular case: 12.25 physical 39.75 decay damage 1.1 attack speed Also keep in mind that all 2h axes got nerfed by increasing the stamina cost of their special attack by 25% (14th of december 2020 - patch) Slightly higher overall damage, but more importantly: A bigger portion of the damage was decay, meaning you shredded through armor like it was nothing.
With respect, as you have made many great vids on Outward; however putting World Edge at #1 smacks of trend-following. Horror is vastly better; does more overall damage with an extreme poison proc on top = no contest. Heck you included the taunosaur greataxe almost entirely for its extreme bleed (otherwise it wouldn't make a top 10 list), yet an axe with much higher damage and extreme poison is somehow lesser than that? Please.
Elemental damage is more important, plus it's faster, has better durability, impact and range. Speed also improves effectiveness of buffs. Extreme bleeding is only important early on. In the end of the day Kelvin is the best. It works well with a very good crimson set and has rarely resisted damage type. It's just a bit better in basically every aspect. I appreciate that he popularizes this game but his lists and recommendations are a bit wacky
Hey Sheen, i wonder why the Horror Greataxe did not make it to your top 5 ? It deals a lot of physical dmg, some decay dmg and can be obtained very early on. I actually think horror 2h weapons are completely op for half the game. I found the worldegdge greataxe during my current run, never heard of it, i tried it out and... i chose to stick with the horror one, especially since i use the monk class with +15% physical damage.
My mains reason for not including that weapon is oddly enough the worldedge greataxe. Its basically the same thing but with more decay damage rather than physical. Problem with physical is that the tsar greataxe does so much its the best choice if you want to go that direction. HOWEVER, you likely chose horror for a good balance which horror weapons really have. Both physical and elemental damage allowing them to shred through the entire game. (Horror weapons in general are a bit too strong and can be excellent weapon choices.
@@SheenShots Wow thanks for answering so quickly ! Yeah it makes sense, i was planning on getting the tsar at some point.... I really like your guides and videos, it made me want to play outward again and explore it further. Thanks for everything, I wish you the best !
Nice top 5! World edge rocks ! Yo Sheen , if you feel like trying something different, try Mortal Online 2 , you may enjoy it a lot or hate it xD But its too notch for roleplay haha
These lists are according to Sheen's taste, so by no means are the vampiric weapons necessarily bad. Vampiric weapons are great, although they have a few noticable weaknesses. The two that stands out to me is a slower attack speed of 0.9, and a relatively low durability. Two "meta" drawbacks are that you can only get a limited amount of them per run, and they can take a while to create. They are very powerful. Depending on your build they could easily be the best weapon in the game. I've used them with the kintsugi set, and can almost afk the bosses like the crescent sharks in Abrassar. I'm sure other people have found great uses for them as well. I particularly like the spear against regular enemies (but not bosses). Maybe you have some experiences of situations where they perform great.
I love vampiric weapons, but assuming you're not cheating them in or using a legacy chest, are very unfun to make. I remember I made the fists once and I loved them, I just face tanked everything and outhealed it all lol. But i'd never make one again, way too annoying
Vampiric weapons are very niche. I think the ones that make it to the top 5 are bow, axe, dagger, and gauntlets. Weirdly enough those are the ones I have not done top 5 for yet lol.
For me it’s 1. Murmure(cause you can enchant it great with Poltergeist) 2. Meteorbow( just great damage(25 Elemental) 3. Horror Bow due to inflicting Extreme Poison 4. Tsar Bow because it just does great damage 5. Masterpiece Bow

Thank you! Love the comments and I enjoy checking out everything I can about this game!

perfect timing, just started a greataxe build with a friend lol.
Now you know exactly what to use lol. Good luck!
Awesome video again thank you for existing man
You bet! I appreciate the support!

The raw power that you feel in every hit is very addicting I have to admit 😂
I run Kelvin's Greataxe with the crimson plate, and it shreds add varnish and Boones...it's a monster, my personal favorite weapon.
I think I would probably have liked it more if I used it with that armor. I was always a bit afraid of doing that though because of the higher stamina cost. Might need to give it a try anyway.

Can we expect a (Worldedge) Greataxe build in a next video ? I would love it 👍
Oooooo maybe. This could be a really fun idea!
@@SheenShots An other reason to follow your channel for the next year ;) Thanks a lot for your contents, and merry christmas 🎅

Do you remember what the stats were on the World Edge before it got nerfed? It got nerfed so long ago I forgot what the original stats were

Ayyyy looks like the Worldedge on the top 1. Not surprising considering the axe is powerful
Its the most memorable as well I think. Grind is awesome but feels off in a lot of builds.

Thanks Storm! I will check it out and absolutely worldedge is a monster!
Worldedge has the Lowest Stamina Cost, if you exclude Iron, and felling.
Also he using Tsar ;D
Stamina is extremely important to take notice of, especially when looking at great axes.
What's that helm ur using in this video first time I see it
That is the tsar helm. It can be crafted with tsar stones if you pay the blacksmith in Levant. Pretty cool looking I must admit.
why none of the vampiric weapons make it to the top 5?

They are a pain yes... takes way to long to get.
Can you do a top 5 bows ?
Absolutely. I actually have the 5 in mind already.
For me it’s
1. Murmure(cause you can enchant it great with Poltergeist)
2. Meteorbow( just great damage(25 Elemental)
3. Horror Bow due to inflicting Extreme Poison
4. Tsar Bow because it just does great damage
5. Masterpiece Bow
