  • There's not a lot of content on the n20/26 exhaust so I just wanted to make a video of how the n20/26 motor sounds completely straight piped with excessive burbles.
    IG: thic_f22
    2016 Bmw 228i n26
    Tuned by Bootmod3 max burble setting & max duration.
    Around 21-22psi of boost at 4500rpm.
    Catless downpipe, muffler, resonator and secondary cat delete. (straight piped af)

      I traded my 3 series for a 2 series... yes, they are smaller, but lighter, and faster, and there are a lot less around. Add to that a VRSF DP, MAD intercooler and charge pipe, BM3 2 AGG tune... and you have a monster for less than 1500 bucks

    You seem pretty knowledge about options surrounding this car. Is there an exhaust that will sound loudish but only pop once or twice on decel. And maybe even not pop sometimes. This is a bit to frequent and consistent to get on board with but a little less poping at the slower speeds would be sick.

    • @ethaninocando
      @ethaninocando  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Pop settings can be changed in my tune within my bootmod3 tuning platform. I can play with the pop settings within my tune. It can be louder, quieter, last longer or shorter, i can limit it to where i only pop above certain rpms or I can delete pops all together. For bmws, the tuning platform is usually bootmod3 or mhd. Also, your question about "is there an exhaust that will sound loudish...on decel", will depend on how free flowing your exhaust system is and the part of the tune of the car that allows excess fuel into the headers for the popping sound.

    Would I need any other exhaust parts in order to properly use a Bm3 Tune, or could I just run it with stock exhaust? Thought about getting a VRSF race down pipe as well?

    • @ethaninocando
      @ethaninocando  ปีที่แล้ว

      You could run Bm3 tune with stock exhaust, you'd just have to run stage 1 because stage 2 requires downpipe, intercooler and chargepipe. I highly recommend upgrading the chargepipe even on stock tune because I blew that up on the first day of owning the car on stock tune.
      My thoughts on race downpipes (catless) are that they're great if you live in states that are loose when it comes to emissions law. You can always get a catted downpipe if catless is not an option for you, both of which can be used for stage 2.

    • @ethaninocando
      @ethaninocando  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can do it, I'd go for it. Quiet while daily driving and loud when you want it to be. Or, you could put the stock valve and custom make pipes to work with the valves.

      I was fully straight piped so I have a catless downpipe paired with muffler and resonator delete. If you're looking for a specific sound, there's plenty of sound clips on youtube or instagram to help you decide. I would start with a muffler delete, if that's not loud enough, the do a resonator delete. If that's not loud enough then install a catless downpipe. If it's too loud and/or raspy then put back the resonator. Or get a full exhuast system but they're expensive.

    • @ethaninocando
      @ethaninocando  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's a bit raspy when accelerating moderately in comfort mode ngl. I don't know to explain it, around 2100rpm it's really loud so when the car shifts form 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd, the rpms land around 2000rpm. In sports mode, there's not really any rasp. You could keep a resonator but I like how mine sounds at the moment.

    • @ethaninocando
      @ethaninocando  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not really, people run stock tune with catless downpipe but they just get a check engine light. A tune turns up boost psi and advances timing, the catless downpipe allows for better airflow and less pressure on the turbo.

      I apologize for the late reply. The exhaust was actually done by a local muffler shop near me. Find a local exhaust/muffler shop and tell them you want a resonator, secondary cat and muffler delete replaced with 3in straight pipes. Or, tell them you want all new pipes with 3in straight pipes. And if you want your exhaust to fully breathe with no restrictions, get a catless or catted downpipe. I got my catless downpipe from VRSF. Here's my affiliate link- www.vr-speed.com/ref/452/

      I sometimes flash between my custom tune and stock tune so I can say that the custom tune adds a lot of low end, middle and top end torque and horsepower. If you asking if straight piping the entire exhaust while stock made the car lose a bit of low end torque then the answer is no.
